this really looks like the brazilian's arapuca, but the trigger you adapted from the deadfall, good ideia thought you will have to wait the bird to "rest" in your stick, try baiting it, the same way you bait the deadfall.
This mechanism is working great for me... I'm using it in a dead fall. The dead fall weight is a chunk of concrete from a readymix concrete bag...weighs about 80lbs. and is extremely deadly. Thanks Malc. for this great vid!
the bait stick should be longer almost to the back of the cage. it's more effective that way also if the trigger sticks with a smaller diameter it would be more sensitive.
