haha.. 4ft drop is not special at all. My t20 was pushed off a 4ft table, landing face down on hardwood. Only damage was scrapes on the palm rest. No loss of even while writing a file. 4 ft drops should not be a selling point.
My Dell XFR NEVER works and Dell Norway has no service or help available.
The GPS doesn't work, the 3g doesn't work, the wireless doesn't work, the operating system doesn't work, the touchscreen doesn't work, the fingerprint reader doesn't work, the smart card reader doesn't work etc.
My advice: Dell Norway should be closed down and burned on the bonfire with my Dell XFR "a dell exclusive" crap computer.
Where is it made? (look underneath..) Since Dell doesn't make any of their laptops (Taiwanese companies like foxcon, etc..) The XFR has striking similarities with the Panasonic toughbooks. I wonder if they just contracted them; like Motorola did with their rugged ML910 (MIL-STD-810) laptops...
Dells are great (if you get the higher class, more well built ones). I miss my Dell XPS. Switched to a Toshiba with more recent & higher hardware specs and now I'm suffering.
Wow, let me get this straight, you can drop the XFR from 4 feet if you remember to turn it off and close it first? Great stuff Dell! Youre funny! Ill go out on a limb and say most people that accidentally drop their rugged laptops dont remember to turn them off and close them first.
Also, I heard that the ballistic armor on the XFR is really just plastic.
Dell, please stick to what you are good at and dont try to play in markets where reliability is the name of the game.
Cute long lasting toy, unfortunately not available in Europe. Dell could earn millions for it, as it has compact size according to other rugged laptops, and wide screen, and the name, as shiny Panasonic products does not hold longer than a year...
How can it be fullly sealed yet have a cooling fan. where does the cool air come from....and where does the warm air go?

I heard the same story from them when they released the Fully Rugged XFRD. What a lemon that was.

TRANSIT DROP:
48(4, 1.22m) drop to 2of plywood over a non-yielding surface, 26 total drops on a single test unit. One drop to each face, edge and corner.
Unit is not operating... :D

Drop it on an angle or drop it from a helicopter. Cool product, but this demonstration is lame.
