Hi i can hear but it doesnt feel like im supposet to hear! Is there anyway that i can tell my parents about this and how to i go about changing myslef into a not hearing person because i will never be deaf i just dont want to hear only my best friend knows about this and she commited suicide about 2 months ago she took it thd the grave! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
Many people just want to learn about deaf culture, myself deaf and I observed many hearing people just want to feel how deaf can't hear. Or they like to learn another language, so they can commuciate with deaf people, that's show they want be friends with us.
Your perspective is interesting. But may I ask, what a bout I. King Jordan. He seems to have been fully accepted into the Deaf community, although he became Deaf when he was 21 (I believe)?
i don't have a desire to be deaf. but if i ever did become deaf, i would be just fine. i'm currently learning ASL, and i have a deaf friend. He's very content just the way he is. I mean, obviously i would miss the sounds of every day life, but hearing isn't everything. There are more important things in life than being able to hear. The Deaf Community is very interesting, and if i were to become a part of it, I would consider it a blessing :)
Would you plesae convince CODA child's hatery habit on Deaf parents or Deaf people ( for no apparent reason) to understand them and edcuate them to understand Deaf innocene culture? Very frustrated, Deaf divorced parents.

The whole "white on the inside, black on the outside" slur, when Black people call other black people "Oreo" because they are not "culturally Black" if they are not raised in the Black culture even if they look Black.

What about hh who were raised as hearing and learn sign language from childhood contact with other kids? Can they become "deaf?" Are they allready "deaf?" Maybe you know answers to questions people won't ask.
I think it varies from person to person, but the key is exposure from the developmental years. As a child, a seed gets planted. During high school and college years the seed grows and the deaf person begins to really find their Deaf Identity and that is IMPORTANT. Same idea: Perhaps a Japanese family moves here, the kid experiences Japanese language and culture as well as American. He will be able to function in BOTH worlds if he is well exposed to them.

Some view deafness as a culture while others view it as a disability. Personally I view it as a culture :)
If I suddenly became deaf I don't think I'd ever get a definite use to it. Though I am learning ASL ...yay XD
