If you were wondering why hes plugging the ear away from the muzzle its because usually you only have one earplug in and its the one towards the muzzle to hear commands, then when it fires you plug the one further away
youre dad is an american hero and so is your whole family..alot of people dont realize that the family of deployed soldiers fight their own war at home
wrtbrgr87- planes cant always be above 24/7. Artillery has been, and will always be important part of combined arms, as well as air support. All work together and compliment each other. Signed, Infantry NCO
jdams are cool but artillery is pretty versatile. there are alot of different shell/fuze combinations you can use to create different effects on target. The purpose of artillery is to mass fires, allow freedom of movement for a maneuver element, and demoralize enemies. as far as accuracy goes, given the proper information you can calculate extremely close at fairly far distances.
might be a little faster if the chief was positioned between the trails to verify shell/fuze then lean over to check the bubbles, so the 2 guys dont have to bring the shell over to you... you verify as they walk past you to the breach. or verify all 3 rounds while waiting for fire command.
Also to an extant 11B. LRPS teams are composed of 11B's granted it is tough to get into LRPS but they conduct recon, and are really high speed. Also every infantry battalion has a scout section which is considered the most high speed part of a battalion of grunts.
@Wrtbrgr87 In World War II over 70% of all casualties were caused by artillery. Sometimes the enemy is not a half mile away from you and if you are less than a mile away from an exploding 2000lb JDAMS you will be in a world of hurt. The 155mm round is about 45 kg (depending on the kind of round) and will take out a house. When I was in the Army and we were tested for accuracy in indirect fire we would normaly hit the truck or come within 5 m of it from 7 km away.
I have a question. How are you able to pinpoint where that round lands, it all seems to low tech. Is it computer guided or something? It just seems like you might accidentally hit a civilian or something by firing at such a long range. Thank you for serving our country in advance :).
@Wrtbrgr87 Good gun crews and a highly capable FDC (fire direction center) along with good FOs (forward observers) and you can wreak havoc on infantry and vehicles...especially with 155mm...the laser guided and gps-guided shells are obviously more accurate, but when you're shooting hajis exposed on a hill top, the kill radius is ~150-250m...you don't have to be exactly precise...
Yeah, because over-heating your body and ignoring standard procedure (taking off your ACU pants and wearing PT gear) is fucking better training, you fuckin retard.
You're an idiot. Just because Soldiers have enough common sense to remove unnecessary gear doesn't make them less trained than marines. This whole Marines Vs Army thing is so old and tired.
Ex Commando Royal Artillery... whatever. The appear to be doing a fine job to me. I use this same gun system. Out in the middle of Afghanistan during a 12-15 month deployment they will do these missions almost every day. So I will just about guarantee they have many more combat missions than you ever so.
Put down the booze and stop with the hateful comments.
Sorry my friend,I just meant the guys in this video. Yeh your right, I do apologise for making the comments, l know we're on the same side and these deployments are tough. They just might have more com missions than myself but l have been to a lot as well. Once again, l hope my apologies have been accepted, no disrespected intended
Are you guys still in the forces and still on duty in Afghanistan? Just that lve not really heard what its like for the American forces out there. Heard you guys have got better showers than our troops lol??
If by better showers you mean having your buddy stand on a truck and pour a water bottle on you, ok. No electricity, minus a generator or two. No running water... sleeping under old parachutes.
Maybe the Army there pampered everywhere. US Marines and British forces are working together and are the ones shedding the most blood and getting the job done.
You go to a recruiter when your old enough. You talk to him or her and then take the ASVAB. After that you go back to the recruiter and look at your job options. If you scored high enough and if its available (the army only has a certain amount of certain jobs so it may not be available) then you sign a contract for that job. Basic is the same for everyone because its "basic training". I have no idea what artillery specialty training is like but you can ask a recruiter.
the exact job im tryin to get i just need to pass my eye exam

They are standing 100meters away from the enemy, and 100lbs bombs just end their 30km course there.

@Wrtbrgr87 loiter time...for JDAMs/LGB, you need an aircraft to be in the AO. Artillery is a near immediate response (same with mortars).
