  • I live in Ontario, Canada and the mennonites here in this province make some good ass pies! We buy them every year for christmas and thanksgiving.

They are so awesome and delicious!

  • @MatrixReality2011 Still not true. I was never oppressed. My mom and dad said I could do and be anything I chose to be, as long as it glorified God. The best parents, the best upbringing of all.

  • @MatrixReality2011 bologna. That is definitely NOT true. Did you grow up Mennonite?

  • unfortunately Father Siemens based his new ideas on inadequate biblical scholarship...

  • @krPeter2010 you must be roman catholic! lol

  • There is even a Mennonite hospital in my country! :)

  • Go Menno ;D

  • Yes, I too am a mennonite, I live in northern Indiana... when I was on an urban life study in chicago, while in college, our guide, an african american man told us that there are more black mennonites in the world than white... He said that the mennonites evangelism in Africa have been very successful.. there are evidently, many black mennonites in Africa.

  • @pete804 P.S Mexican-Menonnite cheese is the best cheese!

  • Are there any Amish or Mennonite of the American sort anywhere in Europe? Just curious.

  • Comment removed

  • @fredphellipssdriver I bet a lot of American mennonites moved back to their orignal homeland. What are the odds?

  • @fredphellipssdriver

There are Mennonites in Germany (many of them in Hesse, Baden-Wurttemberg, and the palatine) in Switzerland (many of them in the Jura and the Emmenthal region), Austria, France and Luxemburg. I think they are also of the American sort because they frequently attend meetings in America.

About the Amish I'm not sure, but I don`t think there are any outside of the United States.

  • Ulrich Zwingli that was the funniest way i've ever heared his name pronounced^^

Martin Luther was a great guy, he basically made the german language, and zwngli was mostly responsable for the difference between swiss german and german.

  • In other words this religion is Fake lol Origionated from where LOL Jesus was a jew FOLLOW me this is so false just a group

  • I hate people that comment on spelling mistakes! They are fags and fagets!

  • benaligtor Thanks but don't forget to shuv yourself up your ass !

  • And that my fellows is the real reason why life sucks shit big time!

  • It don't matter if the sweet lord Jesus his self came down from heaven and gave me a brain ,people would still not listen cause every fool knows that a poor man don't know shit!

  • i have talked about this shit for years and no one gives a rats ass anyway.I don't know why I bother. The only thing thats real is the fact that i'm poor and that makes me an idiot.I could be God all mighty his self and if i had no money I would still be an idiot. and an asshole.

  • I know I'm an idiot cause my wife tells me that every day.

  • Thank you!

  • O.K.,I have silenced this crowd.A job well done!

  • The real question that should be asked is, (Who is God?).Do we portray him as he is or are we just making it up as we go?Like Jobs' friends are we making God out to be someone he is not.We need to seek his wisdom and what scripture says about him.We need to study a little Church history and old testiment history. What do the words covenant mean and such. This is the new covenant between God and man in my body and blood.Us Evangelicals are not as evangelical as we think !

  • The sacriments are there because they save us and keep us in the faith and they hold the true nature of God and not just a symbol of faith or a statement of faith but they are actually the power of God unto salvation.

  • My point is we can not help God save us .Salvation belongs to God alone.Who ever believes on Christ is not condemded but has eternal life. This is a gift from God(to believe).Even believeing depends on God.The evangelical Church does not hold to the true teachings of the sacriments of body blood and baptism because they feel they can choose God while they are still in darkness.Without faith it is impossable to please God and only God gives Faith.

  • Since the fall of Man ,Man has been lost in darkness and can not find God on his own power nor would he even be interested in seeking God.God reaches down to Man and shows us his great love through his Sons dieing on the cross while we where still fighting against God.God chooses us and saves us.We have no hand in it at all.Every one stands condemded without God.

  • and we do choose to be a child of God. there are some who choose not to be and some who choose christ i.e. believers...he waits at the door knocking, waiting for us to let him in...he is there but you have to choose to let him in

  • @lginther08 Yes you are rigt but I mean that if we don't recognise the sacriments as the way of salvation then we must still believe that we are saved by our actions or choices that we make and not wholly on Christs body blood and baptism. We are not saved because we chose God but because God chose us and gave us the power to believe on Christs name.

  • When we talk about taking the sacriments of body ,blood and Baptism we are talking about faith creating action in the hearts of Men. This is not just a sighn or symbol of faith but it is actually Christs blood ,actually christs body and actuall death and resurection of the spirit of man in baptism. We can't save ourselves by choosing God,no God chooses us first then we can respond to his love and be obediant to his commands with hearts full of love towards him through Jesus his Son our Lord Amen.

  • Man can not save himself or help God ,this is why I say that Mennonites and manny evangelicals faith is based on works. If you think you can choose God by doing good works you are wrong. You can only come to God because he shows himself to us.We come to god because he gives us the power to believe on his Son through the Word by the Holy Spirits work in our hearts. The sacriments are Gods covenant between man and God and that is our salvation also, they are not just symbols of faith but are faith.

  • @yellowsub62 The word is "sacraments", not "sacriments".

  • God is not worried so much about the sinfull acting out of Men as he is the root of the problem which is the heart of Man.Man is alltogether corrupt in the inmost being and that is why he can not choose to do the right thing. It is to late for him to choose to do right since he is allready condembed by his heart since the fall of Man (Adam). This is why we need to seek the sacriments of body and blood and baptism since this is the way that he chose to deal with mans problem or dilemma .

  • @yellowsub62 in infant baptism? if a baby has no sin, why have them baptized? the whole reason is to symbolize the death to self and reborn to christ and its a public statement of your faith. a baby cant choose christ or to be baptized which defeats the purpose, it does say in the bible that baptism is a requirement or statement of your faith, but it also says that you choose that not your parents...i believe in child/infant detication, not infant baptism

  • @lginther08 Babys are born in sin because of the fall of Adam.We are not free to choose any longer as we are all born sinners. That is called original sin. This means that all man kind iis corrupt and that we can not free ourselves from this disease called sin or desire to sin but only God can do that through his sons body and blood.

  • @lginther08 Paul talks about this in Romans when he talks about the first adam that caused all man to be condemded and also the second Adam which is Christ sets us free from the penalty of this death sentence.

  • @lginther08 I would also add that baptism is not just a symbol but we actually die to sin and acually are reborn into and by the Spirit ,that is taking on the new nature which is living by and in the Spirit of God and putting to death the old life which is living by our fallen human nature. If we have been put to death then we are made alive to live in christ a new life that is sinnless through Christ and in his body and blood which is the new covenant that God made for us men.

  • @yellowsub62 not sure where you attended mennonite church etc, but i am a mennonite and we dont believe in good works getting you to heaven, nothing but the blood of jesus gets you to heaven. it does say in the bible however that doing good works on earth will get you crowns in heaven but that has nothing to do with your salvation, only to do with giving you a reward for your christian ways. good works are a way of showing your christianity and nothing else. im also wondering why you belive in

  • It is nice for me at times to think of all that God has done for me and my ancesters, that through out the ages God has brought forth his Word that still today saves through the means of the Church.God is faithfull even though I am not.How wonderfull it is to think that my family line came from someone that took a stand for Christ because God did a work of love in there hearts and now 400 years later is still reaping the benefits of that stand.Praise be to god Who saves us and keeps us Amen.

  • On the lighter side, have you ever wondered why most mennonites have trouble spelling? The teachers used to tell us ,just spell it like it sounds.have you listened to yourself or other mennonites talk english??? No wonder we can't spell.

  • If we ever want to all get along we need to stop and recognise who God is.We have to stop enterpreting the Bible on our own or twist Gods Word to fit our life styles. We need to look at what the church has said or believed about God long before there was a Catholic Church. We need to discover what the leaders of the early church said of Jesus Christs true nature. Was he all man ? Was he all God?was he both? Was Jesus the Christ or was there another that the jewish nation waited for.

  • As far as inphant baptism go's I will not argue either way cause I don't understand it all however i feel that the mennonte view of baptism may be the correct way.I see no harm in baptising babes as we all agree that we must be baptised to follow Christ since Christ made that a requeirment. We come to Christ not of our own doing but because God himself revieles himself to us by the Holy Spirirt through his word and thus we believe on Christs name.God gives us the power to do so.

  • Lutherans believe that the body and blood are acualy present together with the word of God.You need to study Hebrew or jewish law in order to understand why this is so.Christ is the sacrificial lamb that takes away the sins of the world .Calvin saw the sacriments as just a symbol and I believe he was a heratic as are many (evangelicals). We need to see christ as he realy is not just half truthes. If we take away from who Jesus Christ is then we do not realy know him and the same gos if we add lies

  • I was born and raised a mennonite but I rejected the Mennonite faith because I see the only way to live a good and pleasing life is to come to the sacraments of christs body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.I do not believe that I can live a good enough life to stand in Gods presence from my own strenght.I believe that God gives me good works to do but they play no role in my salvation. I am now and have been for 25 years a Lutheran of the Lutheran Church Canada.I believe in inphant bap.

  • @yellowsub62 i mean no offense truely but dont u find that odd drinking of christ blood and eating of his flesh? yes i understand its supposed to be symbolic but think about it u are cannibilizing your God also i find it hard to go along with a practice that has been proven to have pagen origins

  • And the difference between Amish and Mennoites is? (Besides a scowl).

  • The Mennonites were persecuted from the catholic church like all other christian sects, the Hutterites, and more other. America was the only one nation what gave these people to live in peace and practice their faith. Long life the Mennonites!

  • @cormorano2010 The (pope) + Roman Catholic Church never forgave Martin Luther for breaking away from the Roman church and founding the Reformers. From the start it was the popes intention to eradicate every vestige of the Reformers (later Protestant). In fact in Ireland the Roman Catholic secret organisation (Opus Dei + the Army of Loyola) do a lot of work to undermine and one-day rid "Catholic Ireland" of all Protestants.

  • @goinghomesomeday1 it would have be better if Martin Luther did not devide the chatolic church bat give his contribution to reforming the church; the legat of the Vatican in Germany proposed Luther to go the way of reformation, bat he refused it. So for this many german people died and the civil war dured 30 years approx. Result: a divided church bat now they are trying to reunify the 2 churches. Bat there are to much differents so I think that it makes not sense to impose the own faith...

  • @cormorano2010 Hello -Yes I agree, but trying to reform a church which ruled with an iron fist would have been very difficult if not impossible - Martin Luther did what he felt was best - I believe that the Roman church would have crushed any attempt to bring about change - Martin Luther was a lone voice in the beginning but after his 95 Theses things changed dramatically and never to be the same-Today the Catholic church is facing major change - like it or not - they have to bring about change.

  • @goinghomesomeday1 Luther refused to contribute to reforming the roman church, because he fighted against the pope, of course, roman church was never in line with the originally christian faith. That what Luther didn't accept was the intention to forgive any type of sin made by christians in Europe, sending out the troups of priests they where autohrized do absolve any type of sin by paying of a price definded from the Vatican. With this money the pope realized the constructtion if the Peter's D

  • @cormorano2010 Either way - we are stuck with the divided situation - Let's pray that some day "all" people of faith will accept each others beliefs and practices without dispute.

  • @goinghomesomeday1 right! Jesus can't be devided! Just during the life of Jesus in this world the disciples had to improve someone who predicated the "at the other side of the seas" and invoced the name of Jesus from Nazareth to healing someone....after dying of Jesus just begane at new the fight between the christians regarding the willing of God in Jesus Christ... Let us pray for the peace and that what Jesus want: that we become all one

  • @cormorano2010 The Lutheran Church would never agree with you on the body and blood of Christ or in the case inphant baptism.I feel that there is also a good works theology that is not right with in the Mennonites. We are saved by Grace not our hard work or who we are.We are not saved because we hold to our mennonite ways but by believing in the Son of god (Jesus Christ).I am not trying to make you angry cause I was born and raised a mennonite also but am now a Lutheran.

  • @yellowsub62 inphant baptism is not th willing of Jesus. Only an adult person can be baptized, so Jesus was baptized with 30 years in the Jordan. The chatolic church baptized the inphants just one week after they was born. This is not right. This act must be intended as a consacration of the inphant to God what will hold his hand over this child. This is also the willing act of the parents, cannot be a baptizing. I also am thinking that we will be saved by Grace, bat we must following Jesus.

  • Retards... LIVE in the modern days...

  • @MrKJHSDF to what? to learn how to exterminate us and destroy our lands and families, no thanks retard! there no comments fools, just fools who make the comments just like you =D

  • I'm a Baptist, we have a lot in common with Mennonites, I admire them in a lot of areas.

  • Ecc. 12 ; 13 Who lives by this ? ? ?

  • Ach lasst doch die leute in ruhe , jeder so wie er es mag ! Ich glaube an alle dem gar nichts , bin agnostiker , aber wenn andere so ihr glück haben ist doch schön ! In all dem dreck in unserer modernen zeit ! Im Tode sind wir alle gleich !

  • Cool, I like learning about other religions. God bless!

  • I've never heard of this flute music being traditional mennonite music.

  • Flutes, Harmonica's - depends what sect you are from.

  • this video makes me want to put a bullet through my head.

  • i live in small town Kansas i still think Mennonites are nuts

  • boring yet informative.

  • This video def sounds dated.

  • Women are not to preach, or teach, so much for honesty.

  • Im a mennonite.... and as you see i have a computer, and we are quit techno people....well my family.... but we are trying to survive just like all other americans

  • I really feel they are the 1st True non denominational Church...Praise God..

  • actually the Mennonites, the Amish, and the Hudderittes, all share the same basic belief system, but its how they are viewed and interpeted is what diffrents the 3 groups, the old order mennonites and the amish are the closest, but they don't agree on the application of the ban(shunning) so split, the hudderettes are another split they follow true community living, and use technology then the mennonite church contiued into what it is today.

  • mennonite power rocks we are going to dominate one day

  • and thats exactly whats wrong with ur religion.... I live in nebraska where somehow mennonite farmers make money(unlike the rest of the farmers) which allows them to buy up all the land which leaves other farmers high and dry... they also only get an 8th grade education and get married at ages that are barely legal... somehow the church owns their land so it is all tax deductible which i consider tax evasion... which is another reason why they are crooked... i guess they cant watch tv either?

  • The Mennonite religion is Christianity, with pacifism added into the mix, and it's not a Mennonite tradition to have land owned by the church. My grandfather was a Mennonite farmer in the western U.S. and I've never heard of the church owning land. Don't take it out on successful farmers if they manage to be good at what they do.

  • I dont take it out on them for being good at what they do but i do take it out on them for not allowing other farmers to purchase land which has led to many farms going out of business. I think its mainly because of the no land tax that they are able to make more than other farmers. Can you answer my question about photographs and television please?

  • Um i dont think they think theres anything wrong with photographs, but I know some of my mennonite relitives that think tv is wrong but they own one anyway, but all mennonites might not be like my relitives lol

  • These are pretty conservative mennonites so that might be why.

  • You moron, cults are AGAINST the Bible. These people are CLOSER to the Bible than other religions. Get your facts straight, asswiper.

  • you never heard of a bible cult? funny thing a bout bible cults, everyone thinks they can read about religion then make up theyre own version of it, like only 4000 people get to heaven, or jesus was actually born in america, or whatever then menonites believe, im pretty sure they match up people for marriage right? why dont you go fuck off, the world hates your dumb ass

  • I do not Believe Mennonites are cults by any means.

  • If it wasn't for my father's mennonite upbringing he wouldn't have resisted being drafted in the Vietnam war and I wouldn't be alive today and I'd be a way more violent person than I am, but then again I still would rather have grown up in Switzerland and been part of their military, something my paternal ancestors rejected for this shithole known as America.

  • You can believe what you like, but if its not backed by the Bible, its just emotion, nothing more.

Simple. If its in line with the Bible, its right. If not, its wrong.

I never said Mennonites were cults. I know many well-meaning Mennonites who don't know the Bible. That doesn't make them cults, just ignorant of what they claim to practice.

  • Well then it's right, because as Mennonties I know our Theology is more right than any other Protestant denomination.

  • @jeffmclain

I agree Mennonites are, among protestants, pious and humble. However, worshipping in spirit AND truth requires more than just a little doctrine. And Mennonites USA is not solid there.

The problem is those roots came from Catholicism, which is indeed a CULT. Congrats for breaking away from them, as PROTESTants. I will not speak to your practice, as I do not know you. The hundreds of Mennonites I know are sweet people, albeit lacking doctrinal zeal, as directed in Scripture.

  • I can't speak for Mennonite USA I am a Conservative Mennonite ha.

  • Same doctrine. :)

I love my Mennonite friends, but they admit they are weaker on doctrine and the Gospel, than the anabaptists, who trace their lineage to Christ and the Apostled, not even through the Catholic Church.

Done with this thread. Have a blessed day.

  • @pshinspections Mennonites are a branch of Anabaptism

  • @pshinspection hey brother! just to point out in modern day life the mennonites are one of the very few anabaptist religions, which i should point out the catholic church is a very confused world even to this day

  • i am mennonite....i live in sw kansas where there are more of us too

we are more up to date with technology and im still in high school, but i try to keep my religion in my life :)

  • Well of course. Even the most stringent Mennonites are still using technology. Even the tech. that they use is light years ahead of stuff that came even earlier.

  • There are many Mennonites in Juarez Mexico, which is the border town to El Paso, Texas. But the Amish are a more conservative group of Mennonites, right? I used to think that Mennonites and Amish were the same, but after living along the border for some time, I know better, I used to deliver pizza, and was surprised to find out that Mennonites ordered Pizza.

  • @pete804 do all menonites know spanish?

  • @pete804 You guys are looked upon in Mexico. Your farms(people) are very well organized. I enjoy your people. Though....I never seen any menonnites in the US...hmm...

  • @pete804 Are there any black mennonites? I'm black and I've always been interested in your way of life.

  • @scampbell04 You may be if you want to.There are Mennonites from many different countries, as well. Any color will do with God. Any color will do with the Mennonites. God made all & he loves us all. You are very welcome to the Mennonite Church. As long as the people are abiding by the Word of God for their doctrine then the Mennonite church is doing what they are supposed to. You have to be careful these days as there are some that have brought some New Age doctrine into the church-Not biblical.

  • There are many different types of Mennonites, some mennonite areas will never see a horse and buggy or simple life mennonite. The main mennonite Idea is anabaptism: belivers Baptism, preisthood of all belivers, awarness of the spirtual gifts and their importanance, and there big topic Pacifism!

  • Mennonites live the same as everyone else. We use tech and common things others do. I guess that is just a figment of your imagination that we are like amish.

  • I thought mennonites were plain. Whats with all the tech savvyness. Mennonites with computers whoa slow down now.

  • Too many people mix Mennonites with the Amish (incorrectly labelled as Mennonites). Then there are also Hutterites, a completely different story.

  • Have you the english or spanish subtitles to this (all) documentary? I need it to translate to portuguese.

  • "menonnites"? "Are a retard"? "..a child malesters"?

The ones I have met generally are well read and educated. Judging by your spelling abilities, you could learn much from them with regard to literacy skills.

  • @BenAliGtor you're grammar is splendid.

  • LOOOOL!! You rule.

  • I respect your response. I too am a Mennonite. I have heard and personally seen too many accounts of fathers beating their kids, incest runs, alcohol abuse, and the world considers them gentle passive people because they ride around in horse and buggies. I realize there are many "kinds" of Mennonites.Take a trip to Mexico, Belize, Bolivia and hang out among the colonies for a while and listen to the stories of abuse, "peaceful" will be the last word you use to describe those Mennonites.

  • Lies lies lies.

The Pope, that killed all these Baptists and others, is protected by the propaganda story. As all stories from the Netherlands are!

  • Beware. Many people associat Mennonites, Amish, German Brothers, Old Believer Orthodox, etc with the break-away Mormons FLDS (mainly due to the plain-style of dress, hardwork, and relative isolation.) So BEWARE: CPS, State Troopers, Federal Govt, and the blood-sucking media will no doubt start targeting on the PEACEFUL, NON-PERVERTED religious people who have separated from sinful society. People HATE those that are happy or that they don't understand and will use the polygamist Mormons as excuse

  • Ahem. I am a mennonite. We don't intermix?

OK, for all of you out there. Mennonite, is not just an ethnicity anymore. You will find Mennonites in china, africa and many other places. These are not white people, they are people of the same beliefs. And as far as white mennos go, I have menno friends who have married different ethnicitis. So please refrain from your ingnorant comments.

  • there are Mennonite communities all of the world with many different races and ethnic types. That statement above is absurd. The point is to separate from the 'world' (the political corruption, violence, sex perversions, sloth, etc) not, like some racist groups, from particular races.

  • All religion is wrong. But the Menonites have a lifestyle which ,in the long run, might prove the only one sustainable. It`s facinating how these people can keep living so undisturbed, by modern society. There is a lot to learn here. They are very peaceful. Peace !!

  • Why not?

They start so many charitable organiizations. They have never "crusaded" and are above all, pacifists.

  • Live peace message in your heart

  • i dont see anything wrong with Mennonites.

You want to see some stuff about actual bad religious ppl? look up Jesus Camp or Westboro Baptist Church on this site and you'll see.

  • wats to hate about them?

  • he's jealous

     What else?

  • i am not jealous and i do not hate any one , i just do not know much about them excuse my ignorance

  • God is love!!

  • I am sorry. God is love!
