  • That was the worst lip-syncing ever lol!

  • Dave Coulier Keyboard Player!

  • O man i've been there done that .... I hate catching myself head over heals

  • this song holds special memories for me personally...while I served in the Army.

  • 1:11 He walks just like me when i have to poo like hell

  • THE MONKEY!!!!!! damn, where this music go?

  • The music of this era is real. It's hearbeating, breathing, blood flowing, real! The music videos of the 21st century thus far, with a few possible exceptions, just don't come anywhere near to measuring up to the creative, quality work done by vocalists, musicians, and videographers during the decade of the 1980's. One more great thing about then: Ronald Reagan, a real President, was in the White House!

  • Dude looks like sienfeld

  • @boisnowinthehouse what the fuck does that mean?

  • 80's has one of most best songs on every band!

  • Just found my new favorite song!!!!!

  • the libarian on this video looks like jessica biel lol... i love this song my fav.

  • i love this song its so awesome

  • 2 CUTE 2 B TRUE

  • That´s just what I tell myself everytime I listen and watch Tears for Fears, the 80´s must have been so much fun.... wish I was 25, 25 years ago!!!

  • You said it, Maxx. Fun, pop symphonic joy. Not rage, no pretentious political agenda.

  • Donnie Darko

  • @adultswim303 love it!

  • Listening to Tears for Fears brings back memories of all my teenage years...I love these guys!

  • A very good song by a very good British group !

  • My head is usually over my heels

  • Hmmm. I reminisce the good old days of the 80s, the music of the Tears for Fears is a big part of it. It's a staple of my cassette player.

  • Lol I didn't even know this was from Tears for Fears... Hah Now I love them even more.

  • This was part of the Donnie Darko OST

  • One tends to romanticize about the past but in my opinion the 80's was a great decade for many reasons, sorry it was shitty for auerstad06, too bad!

  • @aryanspan You got that right, Jezz we had the assassination attempts of Reagan, the Pope, Anwar Sadat's murder, Bobby Sands, the first Space Shuttle, our first love...and songs from Tears For Fears that reminds us of things...

  • @Joshmf - those are terrible remarks...why all the negativity?

  • Comment removed

  • Whether you where there or not, the past always looks better. Except maybe the Dark Ages. Anyway, I don't remember the 80s being that great even though I got the nostalgia bug like everyone else.

  • Great F%6$kin song. 57 people are retards.

  • wish the dalorian was real....ide go back to the 80's.......where people got along.

  • @kryptonian541 yes people got along except for that cold war thing

  • @WORMGERM cold war died after the 80's started....so 80's is what it is....the shit you listen to is the 80's!!!!!!

  • sub me

  • You didn't like Nina Blackwood because 20 years ago she was a late thirties coke whore skank!!! Oh, lead singer looks like a long-haired Ferris Bueller.

  • Im only 15, and this is the stuff I listen to everyday and night. I think I was born 20 years too late. And I find certain 80's chicks hot (Maybe with the exception of Nina Blackwood).

  • @maddirose0901 you have better taste than 99% of your peers. Eventually they will catch on, but you can say you've liked the oldies first.

  • look how far we've come from 'I wanna hold your hand' to ' take a dirty picture'....

  • that librarian isn't even remotely attractive.

  • @MissIowaCanada The problem with your statement is your assumption that the mindset was all about sex in the 80's. Unfortunately unlike the current music we get which is all about sex, money, or violence.... Just for a second assume its just a song about some guy trying to ask out a girl, "simple notion right?".

  • I love Tears For Fears. But what I love about this video -- and I just noticed this now -- is that I recognize the location where it was filmed! I have been there! It was filmed in the library at Emmanuel College, at the University of Toronto. It's probably the only time an *actual* monkey ever occupied the place. :)

    Cheers,

    Bruce

  • I didn't know Jerry Springfield had a singing career.

  • @VicariouslyCurious uh, i think you mean Jerry Seinfeld.

  • donnie darkooooo

  • basically, the lead singer is seinfeld

  • wow ive known this song for a while. did not expect him to look like that

  • LOVE THIS SONG!! Even better with the Dave Coulier look alike rockin that synthesizer!!

  • thumbs up if you think this song is bad ass

  • @nckhrtmn Are you really so pathetic that you have to come to YouTube for your daily ego boost?

  • Maxx, I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • classic, however, vids out of sync.

  • I can't emphasize enough how great the 1980's were. I'm glad I grew up during the 80's, such a phenomenal time. If I could only go back to the 80's the age I am now.......

  • wonderful! x

  • so sweet man, it makes me want to go and talk to my crush, and tell her how i feel, you know what i mean.

  • The ending is probably where Spielberg got the idea for the whole age progression thing he used in "Saving Private Ryan."

  • DONNIE DARKO

  • found it on donnie darko and asked my dad what it was, its brilliants<3

  • Whats so great about this song and video is that The band put them selfs in a real situation. No home boy rap b.s. fake band today would write such a humbling song. Let alone potray them selfs as average humans.....Tears 4 Fears have real talent. thats why they didnt have to fake it all up. The 80s when it was about the music not the image...

  • this song was in donnie darko!

  • DONNIE DARKO

  • Pqp, que som! nostalgia pura dos anos 80!

Um abraço aos nostálgicos da época

    André Anlub

  • This track adds so much to Donnie Darko... Ah.... I'll never tire of it... ;¬)

  • I hate it that the Rouge Traders used that melody in one of their songs made for radio... leave the 80's ALONE and write your own fuckn songs!!! and that goes for all you stupid rap artists ripping off old white 80's tunes just so you have a decent catchy chorus!!!!

  • lol 1:12 i'm a robot -___-

  • i didn't know colin quinn played keyboard

  • I just wish today's generation could appreciate good music like this......

  • My favorite song. Period.

    Juan

  • this is my shit. if your girl or man is upset hit her/him up with this jam and lip sync it close to their ear. they will melt!

  • This is such a truly great happy song! Funny how time flew! 25 years

  • It's the new TGIF

  • This video was made 25 years ago. "Funny how time flies..."

  • Isn't that the guy from Two And A Half Men?

  • 1980 was 30 years ago... =(

  • wish i could , just go back...... :D i my life was so simple then.

  • That keyboardist thinks he's sooo cool playin with 1 finger lol... and i didnt know Rebecca De Mornay played the SEXY librarian... she could straighten out my LONGFELLOW any day of the week and twice on sundays

  • I wish I was born in the 70's so I could have enjoyed the 80's.

  • @elisionguitarist

Yeah, I was lucky enough. ;)

  • @elisionguitarist I know T_T I often think the same thing.

  • @elisionguitarist I wish I had been born in the forties so I could have witnessed the evolution of music from the 50's to the 90's. Everything after that seems to suck.

  • The innocence that came with these early MTV videos might be dated but remains charming to this day. They all seemed to have a short story, not just a herd of shaking asses and pricey cars riding next to each other. This is 4:16 of greatness, one of the best keyboard-driven songs of the era.

  • @Maxx61 Well, I was ALIVE for MTV but had to watch it at other people's homes, we had no PAY TV. So, I miss most of this still. We need an MTV devoid of anything other then promo video, however, promotion of artists needs to encompass more then what's charting on the pop side of things. Basically the way it was centered around ROCK mainly is the way to go

  • I love this song and this video...LOL, Roland is just TOO cute, and it's kind of sad he tries so hard to get the librarian to notice him and she's just ehh...but is it me or has anybody else noticed that in their videos and live performances, Roland seems to have trouble looking straight ahead at the camera? Always off to the sides.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 HAHA yes she is just ehhhh at best, could have had a hotter girl in the video to make it justified!

  • live on the 80's the time when music was more than just a way to make money an to get teenage girls to sleep with you

  • This would make a great political campaign song.

  • 55 people sucks!!

  • @terzomat heres a 56th!

  • Someone should make a donnie darko montage to this so i can watch it stoned, i would but, im stoned and i cant be assed even if i wasnt stoned, fuck it. p.s im just writing this comment cause i want attention and im a geek.

  • YEHEY! THIS IS THE DYNAMIC DUO CALLED TEARS FOR FEARS!!!!!

  • another gem found in donnie darko

  • This song is just true beauty.

  • great bass line! very supportive

  • I am the son of Curt Smith! Thanks for supporting my dad! Add my gamertag on xbox live is SpecialFrame if you love Tears For Fears

  • @SpecialFrame Roland owns Curt.

  • @Drakaland lol i like them both

  • @SpecialFrame oh yeah?! how do we know? hmp!

  • @SpecialFrame last I checked Curt only had daughters :/

  • Kinkykylw i could not agree more!!

  • Isn't this the library that they used for the scene in Venice in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? I thought I read that somewhere, but I could be wrong.

  • Ghostbusters at 1:23

  • good song but I like the 70s better. I like long hair on men..and that earthy look.

  • coolest band name EVER.

  • Such a good song

  • im a 14 year old boy skateboarder and i think music like this is awesome and the music today sucks.

  • This was filmed in Toronto Canada...yay..lol.

  • I can't watch this properly after seeing the literal version, haha.

  • @TopDog69 So true!! It's made me realize the music video has nothing to do with the song at all lol! Also when I sing along I tend to mix it up with the literal version on accident, damn literal videos!!

  • whats with the monkey?

  • 1:34 Uncle Joey from Full House.

  • @the00nightmare00

    Yea it looks like him.

  • i thought this was jerry seinfeld when i was little

  • donnie darko is awesome! thumbs up if u agree!

  • curt looked like....err...clark kent! with those big eyeglasses

  • i love this song!!! :D

  • @bieberbelieberz91 Check out Billy idol song Eyes Without a Face

  • i love this song, except i first heard it in the movie donnie darko so that's what i think of.

  • sorry guys but this song, along with most of hte 80s sucks dick lol

and that girl couldnt have chosen a worse haircut

  • @fatwadmcskylar you suck dick fat piece of shit 80's rock more than this modern shit, 80's OR DIE!!!

  • @fatwadmcskylar haha....you are probably describing most songs today that literally sucks d**ck even with the videos.

  • @fatwadmcskylar Fuck you modern music these days suck dick all shit like justin bieber or lil wayne also rap sucks dick its lyrics about melted chocolate or some shit like that 80s will always be the best how old are you? 12?

  • a true example of a love song.... now or days people just think of sex and attractiveness when the think of love so u get shite party songs

  • long live the 80's

  • with or without the movie, this song is really COOOOOOOL!

  • @MsPink68 precisely! Yeah!!!

  • 3:01 the lead singer looks like jerry sinfeld in the late 80'!!!

  • Easily the weirdest music video i have ever seen, but a good song lol

  • I'm from Argentina, I have only 13 years, but I see the 80 songs are much better than today, I really like Head Over Heels

  • This song is great

  • It's a funny thing, no other eighties song hits the chord with me quite like this one. The song, the video. I don't know what it is but it's like a time-warp...right back to 1984. Good thing or bad thing I don't know...

  • im 14 and am just starting to get into a lot of 80's music

    can't stand the music today

    thank you Rock Band! =)

  • This is so going to be played at my wedding...god, I wish I was a teen during these times. I'm 21 now, but I love the 80's hardcore

  • This is maybe the most clever music video of all time!

  • @radiohead419 I don't even know where to begin.

  • lol at 2:58 ...that guy looks like Big Ben! He even has the nice looking greased up mullet look going!

  • one of things i liked about tears for fears songs was their ambiguity...i could take whatever i wanted from their lyrics....i don't like songs or poetry that's too direct...

  • So the reason I even heard of this song was because of Donnie Darko x] I absolutly love this song though. (:

  • i love the song!!!!

  • Hahahaa.... BANG? LOL

  • Up until the dave coulier solo at 1:30 the singer looks like hes cumming in his pants the whole time. Still love this song though.

  • @burningcactus Dave Coulier! I was thinking the exact same thing.

  • @burningcactus "cumming in his pants"...LOL!!

  • love this song i was in 5th grade i remember once my dad got me out of school early and we left to lubbock and this song must a played a hundred times all the way to lubbock great times glad to be part of the 80's

  • I didnn't know John Cryer was in this band LOL Jk Love Tears for Fears, spent many a night falling asleep to the Songs from the big chair tape playing on my old eightiees boom box.

  • @hockey4ever103170 lol! and here i thought it was only ben affleck who had a secret identity in a band. take a look at the cure's "a forest". miss the 80s.

  • This song perfectly captures what it is really like having a crush on someone who does'nt feel the same way or the feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you are around someone who you are madly in love with god a whole generation can relate to this song which makes it so moving. So glad i grew up in the eighties.

  • @MegaOsaro Amen to that!!! 80's or die!

  • lol idk bout you but everytime i listen to this i always get this wierd magical 80's vibe n i always picture donnie darko getting off the bus :P idk why but yeaaa...exspecially when them rythmn comes in its soo cool :D

  • I have seen this video multiple times and never before noticed the monkey with the Red Sox shirt on. LOL

  • Such a amazing song!

  • this song in the movie donnie darko was the worst placed song in the history of songs in the movies.it had no point in the scenes and it even seemed like there shouldnt even be a song where they put this one.in the mid 80's,there was a movie called "pure genius",a much better movie for this song.i suppose only the true 80's crowd would remember that movie though.

  • @jayocular oops i guess i was wrong it was the everybody wants to rule the world song, lol, my bad!

  • @jayocular The movie was actually called, "Real Genius"...it starred Val Kilmer, and it had the song, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World", as its theme song...it came out in 1985...

  • love this song since TFF sang it way back in the 80s!!!! it's THEIRS anyway. so many great music from TFF!!! long live the geniuses!

  • Donnie Darko!

  • This people never heard of Donnie Darko? wow... that's deep, someone needs a little movie culture!

  • @driisfree25 oh yeah? so that more people would go "ooh wow Donnie Darko it's only cool because of Donnie Darko" you want to spread the fanaticism that much eh? Culture? Seems more like a "Cult".

  • Has youtube of random - Donnie Darko lol

    P.S. it's from the film...

  • @Wreckagemaster actually it is from Songs from the Big Chair released in 83. That album became number one, the song had full existence oblivious to Donne Darko. Go ahead and like the film just don't make funny comments it is the movie that made this song cool, or at least a comment here said so.

  • @aCollectorsPiece The album, "Songs from the Big Chair", was released in 1985, actually...it was voted the Album of the Year by Billboard in 1985...

  • @GemCan78 ok, thanks for the correction, was just trying to make a quick point of how the meaning of this song is actually doubly amazing if taken out of the context of any cult-like movie, out of the confines of any box, and is actually strong ON ITS OWN referring to silly comments on how this song sucked until a movie made it cool which is entirely different from saying one discovered the song with the movie. But to say it sucked before the movie is..laughable ,,,you could actually cry.

  • @aCollectorsPiece Don't mention it...I understand your feelings, concerning the song, and the movie...what people don't realize, is that, Tears for Fears stand on their own, as an example of mid-1980's musical excellence...they were the band of the year in 1985...I mean, Bob Geldof was pissed, that they didn't play at LiveAid...

  • love the monkeh ;)

  • Music was SOOO better in the 80's compared to all the shite like Justin Beiber, Chipmunk n Jason Durulo n all the other crap thats played 2day!

  • @kinkykylw Chipmunk? Like Alvin, and the Chipmunks? Because they're originally from the 80s.

  • @nickatwork He some boy from London, he makes truly awful music. Only young and somehow won a MOBO Award, beating Jay-Z, Kanye West and Eminem.

  • @kinkykylw Hey, there are some great bands that are still played today

  • @kinkykylw You're 100% right..The 80s ruled..It had the best music & movies..Today sucks..

  • @kinkykylw The sad thing is when you go to the iTunes Store and you see what the kiddies are apparently downloading these days. The abbreviation "feat." is enough to make me break out in angry hives. No one writes anything anymore, and they certainly can't perform it themselves. I wish iTunes had a feature for "don't show me crap that preteen morons like"

  • Songwriting has been lost to the all too familiar beats, short shorts, and and the appeal for the gathering of 'stuff'. My God.....where did it go....

  • I didn't know Jerry Seinfeld was in Tears For Fears.

  • @r70072 LOOOOOOLLLL!!! Good one.

  • and what is up with the convulsa-walkaway starting at 1:12 ? i find this totally amusing but am trying to understand if that was intended or what?
