Yes the gravestones you see are just markers. The men were dug up and all placed in a mass grave on Last Stand Hill a few years after the battle.
As for the warriors, they took their dead off the field. Efforts have been made to represent the warriors of the battle and today there are 19 markers on the field for known Indian deaths. Their markers are red while the soldier markers are white.

@jamnua That would be as harsh as celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden or something of that magnitude, only reverse-wise. It would break American hearts, and be kinda pointless. Above all, it's not the first time the idea has gone around. Putting C4's up George Washington's nose was another one, but we'd only be seen as terrorists or anything greater than a regular criminal. I was here in 1996. Despite all the white people looking with hatred in their eyes as I walked through the museum and monument, I could not help but feel proud that our people defeated the oppressors at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.

Yes!! The South was avenged at Little Big Horn! The people of the Confederacy also were oppressed by Custer. I'm proud at least that the South gave Oklahoma to the Indians to be an equal State within the CSA! We Southerners had our own racial demons to deal with, but we are gentlemen and kept our word to the Indians. That is why they fought with us against the likes of Custer. Long live Stand Watie!!

No, the South did not. The "gentlemen" of the south moved out the indians around Fort Sumtner, at gunpoint, after they promised the Lenape (Delaware) that they would have this land back. Thats what my tribe gets for backing those losers called the Confederacy.

Sir, I never said that Southerners did not have a hand in Indian removal, but at least later we offered them something the Yanks never did, STATEHOOD! And NO, the South did not "start the war". There were 900 troops ion ships headed for Charleston to INVADE before we fired on Sumter. The Yanks would have invaded us no matter what. They wanted their empire and the South and the Indians were in the way. Like it or not, we're on the same team.

It isn't called the Custer Battlefield anymore. It is now the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. I believe the name change came about in the 1990's.

Yes they are only whites, and the only reason why there is a memorial there is because custer fell there. That memorial isn't there to remember the First Nations who died there and for their sacrifices or the fact that they died for their Nation or because they were defending their Nation. But because of a cowardly man who hid behind his blind eyes and didn't know how give up.

Yes the gravestones you see are just markers. The men were dug up and all placed in a mass grave on Last Stand Hill a few years after the battle.
As for the warriors, they took their dead off the field. Efforts have been made to represent the warriors of the battle and today there are 19 markers on the field for known Indian deaths. Their markers are red while the soldier markers are white.
