sure sure... perform more of that training and you gonna fell your back... and if you get old enough you are going to know if bad weather comes... if you get old enough.
You don't need big muscles for internal martial arts but a strong body is vital for good health (the forgotten aspect of true martial arts) and for withstanding damage in a fight.
the are no problems with traditonal martial arts styles. it is the fact that the person does not take it upon themselfs to turn their body also into a weapon by weight training and cardio training.
Dear Vyvial, Awesome training. I am not intending this reply to be of offense, I hope that it is not. Regarding your training for Wing Chun, and by all means i am not reiterating that this is what wing chun training is of course, i can sense that you have incorporated a lot of neuromuscular work along with the concepts of GPP, SPP Renegade training concepts to the art of Wing Chun. To what extent does it help? Very sorry to disturb. I hope you can forgive me. Thanks a lot
The problem of traditional arts is pretty much about conditioning.only Muay thay and kyokushin conserved visibly a "hard work" to build a strong body, stamina and also bones empowerment.Other traditionals systems "forgot" their proper and different conditioning and results are bullshit from western and brazilian styles. Now the world is the opposite. The sports men have conditioning (and too much roids,to be right)and martial artists play the ballet..SO...good stuff.
you sir, are fucking beastly!! Tons of impressive stuff on here but my favorite was the one arm snatch with the 135 pound barbell, that's just flat out insane!
I train in what I wear daily in order to bring my training closer to real world applicable. If I can't lift in jeans, then that strength doesn't help me at work or in life.
wow.. I can't believe that's you dude. I remember watching a small interview with you from the Fist of the North Star Volume, and you were a lot skinnier. It's good to see a lot of wing chun, wing tsun, or wing chuan people getting into power lifting.
Wow, that's great! Are there any books you can recommend on this type of training? Is it save to learn those lifts without the supervision of a trainer?
its safe without a trainer as long as you know the basic movements and do them properly and bulid up to it. dont just throw a couple of plates on an olypmic bar and go for it...
This isn't what we are saying is a "correct" way to train nor do we believe that we have a great strength or peak form... it's just a way to show how we train and what can be accomplished by my fat ass with a lot of hard work.
i was answering a quetion someone else asked, but i posted it instead of replying. you have a good trainig method here... explosive power and balance with moderate weight for the style of training.
can you please tell me what kind of traning i need to do for martial arts - like how many sets - lots or few - in genral you dont have to go in to detail - thanks from advence
Sorry but that is way too general of a question to answer here. What is is your art? What are your goals? (GPP conditioning, base strength, Sport Specific)
When I pick a certain amount of reps and load range I will follow this guide:
i want to train for martial arts - in big what i ask is : should i train (largley) : endurance - mass - power i just want to know in big what the trainings tend to be - i just starting my traning and ill read about it more - i just want to know the direction .
Generic answer: you want to start from a base of strength and power in a GPP (General Physical Preparedness) and move into a SSP (Sport Specific Preparedness) with Muscular Endurance and then work into Mental Toughness. You shouldn't need mass training but if you are starting from an untrained condition, then you will gain mass from any of these workouts.
You don't need to learn SC if you weight train like this. Just rely on brute strength and you can "knock everyone around". What's the point? I'm sure MY did not teach this crap and mentality! Whole bunch of hicks in Texas.
Wow, very intelligent. This type of training is performance enhancement for any sports or martial arts and you are right, we didn't learn power cleans from Sigung Moy Yat. However this type of training was a large part of the shaolin temple training 100's of years ago using stones barbells padlocks etc.....
Just because a person does strength training, does not mean they must only use brute force. It means that person has more strength to apply selectively, when needed, in so many ways. If you don't want to use brute force, then you simply don't. The mind rules the muscle, not the other way around.
That is awesome training! I love the pinch plate snatches. Are those done with 135 pounds?

Dinosaur Training is a great book. Also Renegade Training books are also good.
I would say that it isn't safe to learn the quick lifts without supervision but it can be done.

When I pick a certain amount of reps and load range I will follow this guide:
Strength focus: 80-90% 1rm 1-2 reps
Power Focus: > = 85% 1rm 3-5 reps
Mass Focus: 65-85% 1rm 6-12 reps
Endurance (muscular): < = 65% 12+ reps
Endurance (cardio): < = 40% 25+ reps
Endurance (mental): < = 30$ 30+ reps
