They are both wrong and very simplistic. (The) Science doesn't exist. There are many sciences with different philosophical paradigms. 'Science' is based on certain philosophical assumptions and even the idea of 'Science' is a philosophical paradigm. 'Science' will not end, but the type of scientific thinking will change dramatically. The paradigm revolution of quantum physics is still not implied in most sciences.
I am quite underwhelmed by Horgan's comments. Horgan sounds nearly like an American Evangelical. Is he looking for a new job as a televangelist? His sorry babbling about the mysteries of the brain is almost comical. We already know how the brain works. It is part of classical science. We are now simply working out the "software" part, even if it is hardware in reality. "There will always be some mystery there?" Does he even know how long "always" lasts?

I agree with him. Indeed, we do not know everything yet. However, that is just a matter of time and perseverance.
