Actually, it wasn't yours I was referring to. There are no sources I'm aware of for the extensive gesturing the women on either side of you were engaged in. Most sources (and most interpreters of them of whom I'm aware) urge a calm upper torso and a sense of "presence." Waving arms about is not a part of that aesthetic (See I. Brainard's articles on dance aesthetics and Renaissance dance reconstruction in the International Dance Encyclopedia.) Scots ought to know their place, of course, but....
@dellaroux Yes, my hands are a bit overly enthusiastic on the Allemande. But I'm a Highlander, you know, so I'm incorporating a bit of a stately fling. :) Not period correct, I know. But my joy shall not be bridled! HUZZAH!
