  • Too much talk of the idiot who jumped on stage and too little talk of Alan Wilson on slide guitar!!!!

  • These guys are rocking so hard they need a neck brace! This is hard driving and timeless. Great post!

  • He should knocked him in the face

  • Marvelous Canned Heat. Bob Hite and Al Wilson did a marvelous job :-)

  • y isntthis on itunes???????

  • Love the way the bassist put his cigaret between those snares

  • @MrRuebn I think it's a joint. Either way, still hip :P

  • chickenskin .Bob hite was such a nice friendly person showed love to the intruder

Babsanfredrik in Sweden The feeling of the sixties

  • So GREAT Babsanfredrik in Sweden

  • Big HUgs!

  • This is one of the best live performances I've even seen. I missed that generation (i'm 25) but me and a lot of my friends love this.

  • This is so good!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 people have absolutely no freakin concept!

  • what a rush this must';ve been back then.

  • how can you not bang your head to this?

  • GREAT MUSIC

  • Oh my goodness!! One of the only truly awesome songs in history, everytime I listen I just have to dance and punch the air, this song is filled with so much energy that it is infectious and bursts out of you. It is simply too good for words.

  • The sound quality is awesome!! Sounds better than on my Woodstock album!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the awesome Harvey Mandel 3:38

  • Einfach immer wieder genial!!!

  • the sound quality is diff from the movie. wtf

  • Fucking Epic. The end.

  • any tabs?

  • Today, people just cannot climb the stage and sing with the band without some guards get them away!

  • Marvelous live show from Canned Heat at Woodstock festival. Wish I could see the video from the cameraman at the left part of the scene.

  • only the good die young!

  • This is probably the best thing I've ever seen before

  • bass play has a joint held by his strings

    i love it.

  • the original hed bangers!

  • I think Larry Taylor plays for Tom Waits now

  • I bought a pair of red jeans because of this.......and old blue converse...it's the Canned Heat!...........don't forget to boogie!

  • ....32 minutes past the hour

  • I think it's great how the bassist has a joint in the headstock in case of emergency!

  • Larry Taylor had more fun in this segment than anyone had at woodstock

  • The original. The ONE and ONLY CANNED HEAT ! Boogie at it's best !!!

  • IT'S THE CANNED HEAT!!!!!

  • "I said I believe"

  • The greatest time 69 was there for music...

  • such a woodstock these days would be so great

  • Claro que si, con dos cojones el hippie del minuto 1:25!! Se saca el cigarro, se queda arriba, el cantante evita que se o lleven! Increible!

  • brilliant

  • I love how the cameraman is right there on stage with the band. You get a feel of what it was like to preform for the crowd. Wish I was there = )

  • What a band, here at their best. The Bear, Blind Owl, Fito, the mole...

  • It's the fucking CANNED HEAT for sure.....and" DON'T FORGET TO BOOGIE!'

  • the best

  • It's da canned Heat

  • Well aaaalright!! Man, this song just gets me going so much I end up jumping all over to the beat. I am so glad that this was recorded so everyone can keep on boogieing!

  • The Mole was the original head banger

  • Hey lets get down to Venice and BOOGIE!!!!

  • It don't get much better than this.

  • Larry Taylor is the man. And Bob Hite is the man.

  • I'm not altogether sure that the kid,who invaded the stage, had good intentions, he seems to push Bob Hite away by the throat at 1:28, and seems to be waving to some one in the crowd, then nicks a packet of cigs out of his front pocket, I've seen folk do things like that at gigs, and, they're usually taking the piss, "The Bear" however, has full control of the situation, so it all ends peacefully

  • @Wolfspiderxl The "kid" didn't have a bad bone in his body. Everyone who knew him, knew that! I think he was maybe a little wasted and totally excited about being on stage with a band he loved at the time. I seem to recall a smile on his face the entire time and if Bob had felt at all threatened he would have had him thrown off.

  • @SAMMYBUC well more power to Bob , for his big-heartedness.

  • @Wolfspiderxl Absolutely, I agree. I had to write to you, the "kid" was my dad...lol. A good guy too.

  • @SAMMYBUC I stand corrected on that one.

  • @SAMMYBUC

what a touching story...people were always good then...or the like-minded anyway

so here's to your dad and here's to the bear

  • if someone went on a stage now, they'd be arested. no security at woodstock, the police there got high, why'd things have to change

  • Marvelous live show from Canned Heat with Bob Hite and Al Wilson. They did a good job.

  • the world never changes. at least it doesn't in 100 years.

  • Talk about guys who do NOT look like rock stars (more like road apples). IGotta love 'em.

  • @pdshane

alan and bob were always bigger than life and respected even more so...they were the ultimate musicians. we never used the term rock star for serious musicians....in my and my friend's world anyway. the term was used more so in the top 40 world.

  • great live show at Woodstock with Bob Hite and Al Wilson. Great Canned Heat.

  • "Oh! we like it low down"....we sure do Bob......Canned Heat...BEAUTIFUL

  • 3:40 Harvey Mandel in action. men he is still around playing!

  • BonSamBond this song got two titles: "Leaving this Town" and "A Change is Gonna Come"

  • great but I don't find the tabs and the sheet music!

Does it really call "Leaving this town" ? Sorry but I'm Italian and I don't speak English very well! :)

  • hmmm.... look up some classic blues licks/ rythyms on guitar

  • hey!

  • isnt' this, or the beggining at least, "a change is gonna come"?

could be wrong. peace, love, music.

  • Canned Heat and Mountain and perhaps Jefferson Airplane...Santana were the only truly great performers at Woodstock and they were ALL but for Santana left out of the original movie of the event....what a ripoff! Thanks goodness for the Director's Cut

  • hendrix.

  • amen

  • The greatest band and the best singer ever

  • Right on brother

  • Happy New Year Brother! Love from London UK

  • Great performance...too bad these guys couldn't manage their drug use, lotta people had fun in the 60s..& got high, but are still around today, better than ever.

  • THIS IS IT

  • I loved Canned heat, but fito couldn't play drums for shit.

  • thats the beauty of it though. haha

  • in a good way!

  • wtf?? fito was beast. what are you hearing?

  • @gittahfiend you have no idea

  • @gittahfiend

you don't seem to have any idea what you're talking about

  • yes I do ,because I'm not "inept"

  • What a CLASS ACT Bear was! When that kid jumped on-stage, Bear physically puts his arm across and prevents the bouncer from kicking this obviously high fan from being tossed off-stage. Granted the kid overstays his welcome, and dilutes the performance, but that's shows just how much heart the big fella had!

  • those were the sixties

  • You said it man

  • @mikey60077 It's indicative of what people are like once they get on stage though, having been saved from getting his ass kicked, he had the brass-neck to take bear's cigs from his pocket and light up.

  • @clean3 nah. thats just love for one another

  • @silentsniperrr People on stage are a nightmare; they either want to sing as well - which they can't or they'd be there in the first place - or be your long lost friend.

  • You know that there was no security at all during Woodstock? It's a pretty amazing fact but it is due to the original amount of people awaited, aproximatly 40 000, instead of 400 000. The guy was probably just a technician that wanted to prevent any problems. Still it is great of him to keep the "stoner" on stage ;)

  • That was cool-the Bear just waves the guy off like "GTFO!". The kid even swipes a cigarette.

  • Oh man this is the joint!

  • Al Wilson....3rd September 1970.

  • ikravchik is spot on and let's go back and whip those camera men's arse.......but hey, it's 40 years on.....and I'd rather have this than nothing at all.....boogie ikravchik

  • Canned Heat absolutely rocked it! However like most thing's back in the day something had to give,-their performance is awesome but I want to smack the camera man unconscious. Ok... if you are that high, please let somebody else operate the camera. This guy is filming the drummer while the guitarist plays a solo ... geez.

They filmed '' The song remains the same" in a similar half assed manner.

  • great job from Canned Heat with Al Wilson and Bob "The Bear". We will always remember you.

  • this just makes me feel happy :)

  • Perfect.....

  • The best thing on You Tube........PERFECT

  • These guys ROCKED...

Too bad Janis Joplin couldn't have been backed by Canned Heat....

  • You know, speaking of Janis, I've always wondered what would've happened if Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin ever got together and did an album, tour, whatever. I mean, they both had very similar voices, and I think it would've been perfect.

  • the 60's were the best!

  • and he was so wrong:P all what changed is that rock has been converted to commericialism and blues has been changed in to alcohol

  • Blues has always been in and around alcohol. Some of the oldest, best, and most original guys from the delta were all about playing all night and drinking liquor. So...that really hasn't changed at all...do the research.

  • i have to laugh! i don't drink often, but of course, i'm drinking now. guess i totally understand why i am drawn to this music when i've had about 5 or 6 beers!

  • Rocksteady82: this is real and genuine Canned Heat stuff. You can find this footage inside "Woodstock" dvd. both titles are ok

  • Great bass lesson, he braces his palm against the curve of the body for stability.

  • I felt like running up there and giving him a big hug!!!

  • All I can say is Thank God this moment in time was preserved on film- the world is a better place with this music in it !

  • @doogleandalix Man - You can say that again---and again--and then some!!

  • is this a cover song or canned heat's song? if canned heat's song, which album?

and what is this song's name? A Change is Gonna Come or I'm Leaving This Town???

  • i think its a old blues song maybe robert johnson or something. i dont know but the lyrick is kind of robert johnson, but i dont know.

  • what is this song name? somebody say "leaving this town", somebody say "a change is gonna come"

    and which album?

  • Within this Song the bear could also sing "I believe I dust my broom" Sounds quite similar...

  • I'd rather be a hippie than be the richest man in the world

  • I just did the 69th rating...awesome

  • not rly!

  • whos that guy at 1:25 that hugs the singer

  • some roadie that was with them for like 5 years and then he just like left. And then he found out they were playing at woodstock and he was already there.

  • I thought that guy was unknown to them and just went through the crowd and security to the stage. whats a roadie?

  • just some hippie who's stoned out of his gourd

  • I've been listenin to the Heat since I was five (me dad's a livid fan) and this is the shit. The only bans that has been a constant factor in my life is Canned Heat. Btw Mandel is good, but he can't reach Henry Vestine...

  • To each his own , I guess , but for me , Harvey had Vestine beat by a mile .

Harvey is amazing - and he is one of the reasons this is some of the best Heat ever !

  • Looks like the "Mole" is in pretty good form...yes!

  • well... and i think the bass player is awesome. he really feels the music and it's quite hard for me to sit still when i see him:)

    best music ever...

  • It's da Canned Heat.......Boogie Woogie.BLUES kings...PLAY ON.

  • i think you can go get fucked

  • Harvey "the snake" Mandel at 3:40 on

  • hell ya :)

  • lol man check out the guy came in just for a cig

  • where will u ever see such a performance ever in this world nowdays ?

    Nowhere thats where!

  • Why dont you stop complaining and make good music for us. make change.

  • Give me some time , and i'll contact u

  • cool, im looking forward to it.

  • exactly

  • I always thought it too that they had too little recognition, but Hell they played Woodstock, and they are still listened to 40 years later. That's pretty damned good.

  • I took acid and tripped out to this video.. These dudes are highly spiritual ^_^

  • You've got it!!! ; )

  • GREAT SONG!

  • He looks like a insaine 18 weeler driver!! (00)

  • only if only i could have experienced this..of course i could look on the bright side and realize if i had experienced this i'd be even older than i am already.

  • I love it, he pushes the bouncer away and lights a smoke for the stragling fan haha. Very cool. Very cool.

  • Bob Hite is just too cool and a total belter.

He makes having a bit of gerth seem hip.

  • they sure do

  • great performance, they deserved a lot more recognition

  • That was SO COOL!! Great post! :)

    ~Peace~

  • Henry vestine is fuckin amazing! Listen to him on bullfrog blues live at monterey.

  • Yes, he is! But, you do know that this is Harvey Mandel on lead guitar, making his 3rd gig w/ the Heat...

  • Alan, man. god damn. what a bad ass

  • i think hes the only white guy that realy had the blues

  • To ntitek: Thanks so much for posting. Canned Heat was one of the most underrated bands of the 1960s. They should have been tremendously famous. God, I love this vid to this day. Just awesome. Peace.

  • Canned Heat is great...and this is an awesome performance. ntitek, thanks for posting...and FanOfJanis thanks for sharing. I didn't want it to end.

  • bobs the main man

  • Rock + Blues = Canned Heat's BOOGIE!

  • Norman Wagner a member of canned heat was my moms GOOD friend he died a little while ago i called him my uncle all the time he was THE niciest man ever i am so sad about his death.....tragic

  • God, man, that is SO cool ... and SO sad ... all at the same time. Glad you have the memories of him and the band. Tragic, for sure. Peace.

  • 1969: white guys playing the BLUES. Awesome

  • AWESOME¡¡¡.

  • i know this is probablly going to be an imposiable question to awesure. but what was that guy talking about to the singer when the guitar solo was happening?

  • Magnifico y pletorico Oso

    Más videos de los Canned

More videos of Canned please (with Scott-hill and Tony de la Barreda too)

(I prefer Henry that Hervey, sorry)

  • I luv the "friend" -- def one of the coolest Woodstock clips

  • Awsome video!

  • I love it that you could be like 350 lbs with a hairy beard and filthy long hair and still get naked hippie chicks to do it with you. 1969 was amazing.

  • It's not the little red rooster but it's "Leaving this town". Probably the best song from Woodstock and my favourite one from Canned Heat :) .

  • they're awesome. don't say "best." there is no best. just different. they rock. the new hendrix woodstock dvd rocks. it all rocks. get into the black crowes. godbless.

  • Oh yeah , this is easily my favorite performance on the Woodstock DVD .

That video is what prompted me to search out all the Canned Heat music of that era on vinyl and CD that exists .

There is just so much raw enegry and passion and obvious love of the music that permeated from this performance .

  • haha well icant afford all the cd's and vynal..but iv definatley been gettin as much of these guy as i can since i saw this...have u heard this guitar solo omg!
