IMO, it isn't ethical to make money from health care. NOTE by this I mean direct patient focused NOT development and research. It is not moral to make money from direct health care.
The US system is terrible, it is not unless you are outside of the system that you see its faults.
No system is perfect but I struggle to think of a case in Australia besides, direct doctor incompetence where a lady with cancer isn't told the results of her scans due to cost of treatment.
The only reason Fox covers the Tea Party so much is because the Republicans are not in power. If G W Bush was still president, the Tea Party would be all over CNN, and the Dems would be giving it's full support.
These things are happening because of the DEMOCRATS AND THE REPUBLICANS!
Yes. Instead of supporting two noisy political parties, support a single party that's even noisier.
Don't think that voting independent would be an automatic solution. That's just plain silly. You can easily have corruption be bred outside of the two main parties.
Yes, but what is the word Obama keeps using, "competition"?
That is what we need..
In the Presidential elections, if you are either the dem or rep candidate, you already have a 50/50 shot of winning.
We need to increase competition in our politics, to represent the more varied views our country holds, instead of our only options being extreme left or extreme right.
We do not need Health Care reform, we need political reform!
"We do not need Health Care reform, we need political reform!"
Well, we need both. There's neither one problem in this country nor is there a panacea that could solve everything.
Party politics in general is a load of shit. People should never vote for the person based on their party or lack thereof. Vote for the person instead. Don't vote Republican, Democrat, or Independent; vote for the person.
so theres protesters, protesting helping this lady above. thats like mice protesting a fence to protect them from snakes. Republican mice, protesting NOT being eaten by snakes, not being eaten by a snake is socialism, or something. so crazy...
Friday I got a letter from my pension fund. because of the worldwide rescission bla bla 2%. In it is a code to a website so that I can see which stocks I've invested in. I don´t want shares in bomb factories ETC.
It turns out I hold shares in the Blue Cross which means that every time a BC-BS insured American is denied treatment I earn money. In DK we have Universal Health care and I am making money from sick Americans who is denied treatment. Isen´t it a wonderful world we are living in.
I'm one of the Americans caught up in this shit storm. Luckily my illness is not life threatening but it's something that requires constant care.
I'd like to get my own place, get married to my girlfriend, start living this so called "American Dream" that Republicans cling to, but the health care system as it currently stands is keeping me trapped in a cage.
The directors of health "care" companies are criminals, pure and simple. Congress people who back them are criminals as well. They are killing people.
i made a video awhile back about this, healthcare for profit is wrong. even if you npay the high premiums they charge they can still deny you coverage.
it's time to call on the politicians that are supposed to be working for us and string them up, tar and feathers is a good idea too....
This is what bugs me about all the zombies that invaded Washington this past weekend - their efforts are so misdirected by Beck and his paymasters. They should be clawing at the doors of the health insurance and drug companies. Instead they're blaming their problems on this administration.
the very same zombies probably had no problem with the invasion of iraq (which was illegal) and all the money spent on it. that money could have given americans the healthcare they need. depending on the source you look at it's nee anywhere between 1 -3 trillion dollars already....
Thank goodness indeed for the NHS. Even the most conservative reactionary person in Britain would do everything to preserve this wonderful service to us all.
Fortunately I do have very good health insurance provided by the company I work for, but a serious illness could still eat up all my savings after the cutoff is reached.
It is not unregulated. It is one of the most heavily regulated sectors in the US, both at the state and the Federal level. There are the kind of regulations that raise the price for everyone and the kind of regulations that make it very difficult for new players to enter the market and compete. The health insurance sector is a government backed cartel.

First, FOX is a right wing news source.
Second the Tea Party is an Independent movement.

Profit and health care can never coexist. Take profiteering out. I don't care how they do it, just do it.

That's sick. It's all around the world, in the Netherlands it's becoming worse as well. (in banking and insurance).
Talented managers they are called and if we don't pay them their 'deserved' multimilions a year, they can leave to work somewhere else.

I gather that the lies about the UK NHS by the right wing in the US have managed to bring the left and right in the UK together to support the NHS.
At least some good has come out of it.

WTF is it legal to withhold someone's own medical records in the US?
The NHS may not be the best, and it has its faults, but I wouldn't trade it for the US system.

The US medical insurance system is - guess what? - largely unregulated. That's how they've been getting away with murder - lierally - for years.
