do you mind telling me what you used to cover the parts you didn't want to paint, for instance the dreamcast logo on the disc tray lid.

I already took my dreamcast all the way apart and I paint the parts alone but I am new to spray painting and I have some blue painters tape and a razor. I used the tape to cover the little trapezoid thing on the bottom of the disc lid but when I cut around it I ended up cutting into the lid lol.

How do u get it so perfect.

Damn these consoles are fukin epic! Im looking to spray my dreamcast, controllers, vmu's, gun etc... But I've never sprayed anything other than my name on a wall. So any tips advice? Obviously I need metallic paint but should I sand the dreamcast and the other stuff down to the bare plastic first? Should I apply any undercoats? If so what type of paints? Will spray paint be best? And how many coats should I apply? I was thinking sand, undercoat (grey) then spray paint a metallic silver or black?

That depends on alot of factors. How thick your paint is, how much you put on. In my case, I didnt have to do anything as far as that goes.

Thanks. You make it sound too easy. Theres really a ton of stuff involved. The color sanding and buffing is what really makes it shine. Leaves no orange peel that way.

Aha, the sanding and buffing. I am sure those steps are tedious. But lemme tell ya, the results are very worth it! Have a question too, could buffing or sanding remove stubborn scratches/nicks out of glossy plastic?
