I love the promo for "It's a Wonderful Life" on Family Channel. Those were the days when it was in the public domain and you could see it all December long on about a dozen different channels.
man i loved the prevue so much i would watch this for hours of the day. 2:02 was one of my favorite reason for watching the prevue guiide so much ^_^_^_^_^_^
oh god, purolator ads REALLY bring back old 80's memories, i remember purolator the most by their envolvement in NASCAR at the time, i think it's known as FRAM now, not sure though.
I love stuff like this! I can remember watching this format of the Prevue guide in around 1992 or so but it was just the electronic scrolling guide and did not have the top video preview portion. It just had music with it.
In the area where I grew up, Prevue Guide existed in that format only until around 1989. My family didn't get a TV tuner box until 1988, and that was the first time I saw the Prevue Guide Channel on Ch. 53, with what was then known as "Continental Cablevision" (Boston area). Around 1989 or '90, they changed the format to include the top video portion, which I hated because it took longer to see the list of channels and programs. But I love seeing stuff like this - a real blast from the past. :)
On December 12, 1988, Elizabeth was three years old. A woman saying, "If Columbo can do it, so can we." at 0:11-0:14. A man talking at 0:21. Another man talking at 2:25. On December 12, 1988, Sam Haskell's younger daughter was one. Do you have a "Prevue Guide" from September 9, 1989?
Thanks for the date update. It's been so long that I forgot. I have some footage from Prevue guide before they cut the screen in half and included video above. I'll post it when I find it.
BET has changed a little bit 1:16.

What other programs were on Nick back in '88, and, to be random, did cable TV and the radio advertise upcoming Rippingtons albums? lol

Comcast Cablevision in NJ didn't get Prevue Guide till 1989 well, at least that's when I discovered it. :-)

Was CBN & the Family Channel about ready to merge? Seemed like saw both CBN & Family Channel promos, but today it's ABC Family.

I do recall that CBN went to the Family Channel. I think it was right around this time. Maybe a year later or so.

This would actually be from 1988. Oh, and I noticed the promo @ 0:02 for Remington Steele on The Family Channel was a CBN promo!
