  • that orca is just showing off. What an amazing encounter, awesome.

  • lol wild orcas are probably safer than those murderous bastards at sea world

  • Lucky you. Its illigal to get that close these days.

  • i want to know what time of year or month this was? i want to photograph these whales very much.

  • orcas are not whales they kill whales!

  • as he comes up out of the water his front nose looks like a mini 747.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • I have seen Orcas in B.C. but from a much larger boat. I admire ppl who have the courage to get this close to them. In my wildest dreams I would love to do this, but in reality, I'm way too chicken I think. But it looks incredibly awesome though.

  • uuh das war bestimmt schön! :D Keine Angst gehabt? ^^ wenn man mal bedenkt, dass die Orcas euch für Robben oder ähnliches halten hätten können .. ;)

  • I have to say I think I would have "fell" in the water lol

  • atleast they are not in captivity.

  • i would poo in my pants and scream like a baby with diare

  • i like it when they kill great white sharks...

  • Typo alert: "but not very trip."

Shouldn't that be "but not on every trip."?

  • im guessing the leader of the pod popped his head too see what the fuck all these big colorfull fish are doing floating together, and then was like ahhhhhh its just humans fuck it, but u see how they swam so close, shits scary man ya kno they hunt in packs of 20-30 going after groups of whales and their babies.

  • This is so beautiful and to lovely female orcas what an amazing experience.

  • wanna jump in the water!

  • cool i would also crap my pants

  • @mikemattbrooke LOL me too! I think id say "WOW" then paddle the hell outa there.

  • cool

  • the typo at the end of this video is so bad.

  • my pants would be smelling quite bad at that moment

  • What are thoses green things u deer water when the orca goes past??????

    Just curious!

  • lol from 0:31 it sounds like my old nintendo

  • OMFG!

  • oh sh*t im glad im not going on a kayak im going on a boat this summer 2010 but i would love to get close to an orca though.lol

  • was this in haro?

  • killer whales need to burn in hell!!! humans rule!!! ..well it depends on the human race

  • @ParisHiltonsFanGirl why exactly do they need to burn in hell? thats pretty messed up of you to say...give one good reason really?

  • @ParisHiltonsFanGirl hey what´s wrong with you? what´s make you said that? look... we don´t rule and there are not killers.. "killer whale" is a term used by all thoose who dosen´t real a shit about them... and excuse me but i think that YOU SOULD BE BURN IN HELL if you belive in it

  • Playful creatures....

  • I think I would shit my pants

  • this is my dream.....i luv these animals.....

  • @TheAngela1025 MINE TOO, I JUST LOVE ORCAS! THEY'RE SOOOOOOO LOVELY.....

  • nature is fine without humans interfering. It's never the animals because there is balance in the animal kingdom...lol

  • Awesome.. Is a memoir for a lifetime

  • That was awsome! I want to see an orca!

  • siete dei pazzi ma dei grandi!!!

  • Encounters like this do happen but not

    VERY (?) trip.

    LOL.

    spot the typo.

  • Would love to go on a trip like that..but could you just make my kayak the size of a small battle cruiser please !!

  • i woulda pissed my pants dude

  • If you live by the Puget Sound, they are quite popular. I have seen them a couple of time just be out on my Dad's boat. The salmon source is quite abundant up here. Very nice video though. Once in a life time experience for some

  • the whales: "Be afraid!"

No, kidding :P Im sure they where just curious ^^

If they wasnt looking for food..... :P

Amazing! I have dreamed about seeing wild orcas since I was a child ^^

  • i would love that! but would still be a little scared :-)

  • "Killer" whales is just a nick name, they are actually harmless.

  • oh i know ive studied whales for 7 yrs but i am just naturally cautious. :D i always expect the worse like... a meteorite barely hitting the whale and scaring it and when i swam i was hit with its tail or something ridiculous like that. :)

  • Unless you are a pinniped or baby Gray Whale or fish...

  • I've lived on Friday Harbor, San Juan Island for 19 years, this happens all the time, you can go to certain beaches and see them only 50 yds off the shore...I've gone snorkeling and scuba diving and seals come right up to you, its wild! I Love my home!

  • whoa.. that was like .. dangerous..

  • Seniarth, dangerous maybe, but worth the risk!

  • Man Im so gonna do that next time. I really want to move there.

  • I'd like to do that some day. That looks like it would be fun.

  • You are SO incredibly lucky.

  • lucky

  • That is just amazing, they are def. one of the most amazing and most respected of all marine life...EPIC!!! wish i could have been in your shoes

  • i must say i'm really jealous!!! this is now on my list of things i need to do before i die! kayaking + killer whales = amazing :D

  • lol at 0:17 -- "oh my God" that guy sounded like he was about to piss himself.. lol i know i would

  • that was fricking awsome

  • ohhh fuck no!! amazing to look at.. but far too close... i wouldve shyt my pants right there LOL :D

  • i would have shit my pants and then ran across the water back to shore...that was really really dangerous and too close for comfort...

  • LOL!!!!!! My thoughts exactly.

  • Oh hell no. I'd be on the beach with binoculars, that's as close as I'd need to be. Cool to watch, though. From far away.

  • Yes they are huge, these behemoth's can grow to thirty feet in length 1/2 the size of a sperm whale.

  • That's were Free Willy 2 was filmed.

  • that is amazing!!! <3 omg i want to kayak in the san juan islands.

  • I don't think wild Orcas would harm a human unless it was by accident.

  • @cowman1970 they all have different personalities. some are aggressive and some very sweet, but to answer your question? they'll kill you if under the right conditions, and they're stressed or feel mistreated.

  • @cowman1970 i totaly agree! :)

  • @cowman1970 /watch?v=4fkFUkgDpO8 ? :D

  • @frankfurt316 firstly that's a sperm whale not an orca, secondly they were startling it by making loud noises and smashing sticks together and then they caught it in a net to drag it out.. Then you wonder why the whale got agitated..

  • @cotch85 swear, btch?

  • holy shit ive been there!!! i jusr didnt kyakk i just went out ont he boat with my family the island is soo pretty just liek the whales!!!

  • I wish I could see those gorgeous animals up close. Captive orcas would probably be safer, but seeing them wild is to see their true beauty. I hope to someday experience both.

  • seeing them in wild is something you wont forget!Trust me

  • If anything Captive Orcas are more dangerous. But, Orcas don't ever intentionally hurt humans, I don't think they ever have. They eat salmon.

  • a killer whale at sea world killed a trainer

  • Do you blame it, being kept in that tank? But, investigators are now saying, the trainer did something that encouraged the whale to do that

  • like what what did they say? just curious... i also agree they shouldnt be kept in a tank like that i mean to be kept there all ur life? come on would anyone else like to be stuffed in a tank and have to preform for people and not do ur own thing...the whales do look like they have fun but really to live in a tank THE REST OF YOUR LIFE i really want to see a killer whale tho

  • @sunsetsbythesea Actually there are two types of Orcas. Transient and Resident. Transient's diet consist of mammals and shark while Resident Orcas eats fish. A transient will never breed with a resident.

  • @sunsetsbythesea thats what ive been telling people and they dont believe me :-(

  • oh thats amazing! i would love to see them in the wild, also, and love to be able to get that close to them even more! great footage, and thanks for sharing! 5 STARS!!!! I <3 Killer Whales!

  • Looked like the whale had another at his/her side .

    Her offspring maybe?

Good that you were lashed together in a float - thus displaying a grater size as a whole.

A single kayak might have been a nifty snack.

  • Looked like it.

  • it probably is, although the correct way of saying it would be "Looked like the dolphin had another at his/her side" since killer whales are actually part of the dolphin family...just giving my two cents

  • holy fuck thankyou for that

  • @Key2Be

I think there were at least THREE that stayed under the water. You can count the white patches as they go by.

    What an opportunity!

  • I sit comfortably in my chair, watching it on youtube, with a mug of coffe, get of the water, I can zoom closer than that on the screen, do you have an urge to fornificate w. an orca, or even closer in, how bout inside of it?

  • Ahhhh! NICEEEE!!! It's my dream to see orca in the wild !!!

  • well no human incendance as been reported with orcas there two kind orca in the area of san juan island but the one see there are the one that eat only coho salmon been there 2 best way to see them is go at victoria B.C. and one of the many boat trips that head there i have a preferance for a zodiak from the great pacific adventure great guides there. And if your lucky enough cause that the tours are self reglement them self that they cant approch the orca from 100 meters the orca

  • I am so jealous I wish I was there

  • me too

  • What? Im glad I wasn't there. Those whales could have killed them.

  • What an awesome and exciting experience that must've been! Great footage; thanks for sharing!

I was out kayaking this week in Alaska but I didn't get up very close to orcas. We saw them from far away. Luckily though, we did get to see some Dall's porpoises and harbor porpoises up close =]

  • just amazing getting so close to such a massive beast

  • it is huge!!! i would like to see one day a killerwhale

  • Great Video! I've had the pleasure of being around whales for half my life, and know what a rush it is!! Thanks for sharing this footage!

  • ..uh..you guys have seen the footage of an Orca doing a body flop on top of a Korean kayacker in 1997?

  • that was funny, to me it was

  • OK..you are the whale expert...and ya, the orca flop video is bogus...but knowing what you do about orcas...and their diet...and their intel...whould you relly want to be 10 yards away in a kayak??????

  • that is a fake from an an energy drink commercial

  • @surfrdr Looks pretty real to me.

  • did you know that orcas flop on the surface like that to STUN the salmon in the water. It's a hunting tactic.

  • Woow... Cool! :D

    I want that tooo!! (l)

  • Amazing. Here in Canada, we surf and kitesurf with these amazing fellow mammals. I'm just glad that they recognize me and have a 'laugh' or two at the funny guy in the suit trying to be king of the water. Very humbling when they are around.

  • True exhilaration comes from true danger.

    Awesome!

  • The ORCA has 2 babies beside it if you watch carefuly! i would take of my life jacket and jump!!!:P I LOVE ORCA'S!!<3

  • lol at the seagulls

  • i would have jumped out of that kayak and went for a swim

  • All i want to do in life is see wild orcas! Truley amazing. :)

  • Loved it. I only saw the Orcas from a boat this year. Next year....kayaking!

  • that was sweet

  • I would have been crapping myself. AWESOME footage.
