I'm not sure if it's possible to miss someone you've never met, spoke to or realize he/she was alive during his/her lifetime but fuck science, I miss you Elliott, I really do.
this instantly made me cry. it's different for some reason...i don't know what it is, but he seems to really fucking mean it, like...more than usual. and i can't stop watching it. i want to give him the biggest, warmest hug in history.
So I don't get it. Another link ( watch?v=JBJlkIfOz64 ) claims their video is Elliott playing "Say Yes" at Redfest on 9/19/03, but this one and that one are clearly different versions, and it has nothing to do with camera angles.
Wow, this may sound weird, but he looks really sad in this video. I can't help but to believe that this is because he is sober. He had a horrible drug problem, and drugs make deppression worse(except for weed =) ), but it's almost as if he was happier on them.
@purpledrohaze777 How can you say he looks sad after seeing his face at 1:07 and when he finishes the song? I think he just looks like he's trying to concentrate :/
this was the first time he played a show without being on anything. he was already off drugs, but this was the first time he performed completely sober (as in no drinking).
i used to think that, but then i changed my view on it, i think of it this way; the people who dont know him dont deserve to listen to him, and its something u have that the rest of the morons in the world dont have. this makes me feel privileged and greatful i descovered him, .and there's no point in showing other people, as their ethier ungreatful, or kill it , if hes for them, they will find him on their own, my opinion
Liking Elliott Smith doesn't put you on some pedestal above everyone else. My friend got me into Elliott a few years back, am I not worthy of liking him or what?
:( I wish there was more....... It's strange because it barely looks like him until he smiles and some of those downward looks and then you just know it's him.
very true. he was clean in a lot of ways, esp. during this show. he usually took Adderal as a performance enhancer but this was his first show where he didn't do that. he cut out a lot of things near the end of his life. i would say he was too hard on himself but it's still amazing that he did that.
I'm not very good at wording things, so here's the quote by Liam Gowing. "On September 19, in Salt Lake City, he played his first show in years without supplementing his prescribed dose of Adderall or drinking any alcohol. The day after the gig, Smith was elated about the triumph of performing sober."
people who went to this whow said that him seemed really happy. i like to think that, in certain way, elliott passed away happy and with his heart and mind clean. i miss you, e.

@evanisovich This is most definitely Redfest. The other link is at the Henry Fonda Theater in LA, 2/1/03 or 1/31/03.

he seems either tired or on his way to being trashed-
either way he is always entertaining and a good performer!

i was about to post something similar but then you described it swell. Music should be discovered not force fed to you by mainstream outlets

is there more to this show? (video). is this the one from Sept. 19 '03, just from a different angle?
eitheror6903 3 years ago
the one that you think is from "september 19 '03 from a different angle" is actually from henry fonda.

So you're assuming that he was on drugs all his past shows?
thesuzies 3 years ago
No. And depends what you mean by drugs. Drugs and meds are two different things.
eitheror6903 3 years ago
pharmacutical pills are drugs so yes he has been on drugs in all of his past show aha
