  • hi,

i am a sysadmin for a company and my employer thinks his network is safe as #$%^ becouse he buys expensive hardware firewalls,,,

so i want to learn to penntest to spot flaws in the money = security theory.

wich would you recommend for a newbie with some cain&able experience .. backtrack or blackbuntu.

i am drawn to BB becouse ubuntu was nice and easy on a newbster like me.

    thankes

  • What is the name of this song??

  • @Clan921

its called Heart of Courage by Two Steps From Hell

  • i have to tell you...i came across your website and i know backtrack...why should somebody go with blackbuntu instead of backtrack and how do you define yourself...and how will you compete or are competing against the new 5th release of BT when you are on your second release :-) haha few good questions here but i think its what everyone should know to make the choice easyer to make other than just knowing its simpler :) thanks for reply :D and good job on the interface haha badass really

  • @Justic3h Blackbuntu is much simpler to use than BT.

Yet you are right, Blackbuntu is still missing many important features for exploitation. I satisfy with BT5 for their upgrades in exploit database and much more network analysis tools.

Blackbuntu is more newbie-like tools, I don't really like its MySQL/MS-SQL database. Plus there is no IDA Pro. Metasm? Seriously? I rather use gdb.

In the end it doesn't matter what tool you use, the most important thing to get the work done.

    username is root

    password is toor

  • @Chang13A if you want to access straight to the GUI, type startx

  • Ahh just wait until the scriptkiddies will get their hands on it. (-;

Just hope some of the things run smoother than BT4

  • @caca4cocopuffs try autoscan :p stik on postgresql and mysql+Msf but its mE

  • So what is the kernel version? does it stay update with ubuntu? If so how do you also update the drivers? I know in ubuntu everytime there is a new kernel update I have to update the version of the kernel into my wireless drivers... I have to test this version of linux out.... But would be grate if you'd answer my questions if not then i guess i do that on my review of it when i download it and test driver it.

  • Awesome! Can't wait till 64 bit is available.

  • Is it possible to install this to a USB?

  • WHAT MUSIC IS THIS?!?!?!?!

  • @Vladyaro Heart of Courage by Two steps from Hell

  • How secure is it?

  • good job i well try it soon

  • Looks really interesting! :) I am definitely gonna check it out!

Btw what music is it in the video? :)

  • Looks much btter than backtrack.

  • @dan08ish yup, It's similar performance, but it's easier to use <<< my concept

  • @mayaseven yeah but simple means i look less like a pro..

  • I think BT5 looks like crap. I still use BT4 for my day to day OS but that is going to change because of outdated repositories. I do like a lot of the tools but I am not really much into pentesting anymore. I am now shifting over to Debian because I don't want to install a "live distro" on my hard disk only to have frozen updates. Oh, and the red is real ugly. Reason I still use BT4 is because of how basic and "linux" it looks. Really love it. BT5 just looks overdone IMO.
