I WAS THERE THAT NIGHT. I was there every night...year after year of heartache. Still we returned hopeful. This night appeared as though the spurs would blow it again. Trailing the entire game, with only nine seconds left, Sean Elliot, who we later find out is severely sick and desperately needing a kidney transplant, not only hits the near impossible shot, but pushes back at the tide, and gives the spurs the momentum to redeem themselves forever.MONSTROUS ROAR and not a dry eye in the building
yea this guy was a freak athlete and he could shoot to. Im a New York Knicks fan and a huge one at that but I gotta show respect. I always hated the spurs but I always liked this guys game. Over 10,000 points in a career, NBA champion, 2x all star and he is the all time leader in 3 pointers made in spurs history, at least when he retired he was.
actually the defender was going backwards and Sean's foot was never in a position on Vlade's thigh to gain upward motion....that was purely his bounce from being in the zone at that particular moment.
one of the dunks that's actually written in my memory, I just love how it seems he goes for a layup then finds himself eye level with the rim, so what else to do except dunk it
but he did not hop on Divac! the touch did not help Elliott rise up or give him a boost in any way. plus it barely looked like he touched him anyway. it was sean's hops.
Sean was one of the best college players ever. Not as great in the NBA. But in college he dominated, especially when the pressure was on. He's the best thing to ever come out of Tucson!
i remember tha miracle shot he hit against Portland

I remember that game & especially that dunk, recorded on a VHS I said to myself...
"wow, wait a minute, Let me freeze this replay because I think this guy's just done something special there". Bingo
the most UNDERRATED dunk ever.

And this was when he was at the end of his career, around 2001.
I still remember watching this game. Playoffs 2001 I think against the Kings.
wild95cat 2 years ago
this was CLEARLY against the Lakers and it was YEARS before 2001. more like 94-95 when he returned to the Spurs after a stint with Detroit.

You are exactly right. It was the spring of 1995.

at 11sec you can see a little airtime help from the defender's leg, but he still had to get that high up

That looked like a video game glitch in NBA live or something
misterx2day 3 years ago 11
He had to have gotten a boost because he was in the air longer than Jordan ever was. No one can stay in the air like that off their own jump.

i swear to god that happen to me once, he got a boost from the defensive player and it made him go higher
humble415 4 years ago
I don't see any defensive players even around him except Divac, who was IN FRONT of him. No way he could have gotten a boost, that was all him!

It was a little boost 'cose he accelerated while he touched Vlade

I honestly think that's the first time I've seen him dunk. I always thought of him as a sweet shooter but now I know he was more than that

If you look, I think he kicks off the defender's leg... so he gets a little higher. It's still freakin' crazy.
