@AndySan Have you been enjoying your time in the Navy so far? and Is there anything you Don't like about the Navy?? I really Wanna Join Somthing and I dont want to regret it...
Hi, I've joined the Navy and have enlisted under advanced pay-grade to E-2. I've heard some rumors that in boot-camp, everyone is paid as an E-1 with less than 4 months of service and that they won't receive higher pay until after graduation. Is this true? And if so, will they also catch me up with the E-2 pay I didn't receive while in boot-camp? By the way, my ship-date is March 14th and my contract is for CTI, (hopefully for Russian). Thanks!
@Bigelowsscreen - You should get E-2 pay in boot camp, but if not, then check your LES (the Navy equivilent of a paycheck stub) to see if you got back pay when you graduate.
@xDNRxV3 - I'd go with Marines if you like action and stuff like that. Not to say the Navy doesn't have that, but the Marines have more boots-to-the-ground action than we are IMO.
@AndySan well thanks anyways bud.. i shouldnt really take it too serious now because im only 15 and i still got 3 more years.. maybe next year or when ima sophmore...
@coke0fan - I haven't seen any females getting put down or anything. If something like that happened, it would (and should) get reported and the offenders will go see the old man (aka go to Captain's Mast).
There's too many variables to say which rates get the most shore duty since it's all ultimately based on the needs of the Navy. I'd look on About.com's Navy page, which has A TON of information!
@wenk47 - It mostly depends on how much money I have and what's going on, but most of the time I'm either online at a Starbucks or walking around town. If I need to go someplace out of walking distance, then I take the bus/train. There's really no need to own a car in San Diego, especially since the traffic can get brutal at times.
@lmaolawlzhaha - Yes, I am currently in the US Navy. If you want to learn more about the Navy, search my channel for my N-FAQs playlist (updated every Thursday).
hey andysan, i wonder what do you do during your free time?? do you go to different places in san diego?? do you walk or rent a car?? and can you take college credits while on fleet??
hey you were in the navy? or are in the navy? can you give me any details about being in the navy? i'm going tomorrow to meet with a recruiter and i'm really nervous.
@maximus112292 - I dunno how much it is when the Global feature is activated, but my last bill was about $90 USD. Not bad considering that I have unlimited data and texting and 450 minutes a month of talk time, which if your friends & folks are on Verizon then you don't use those minutes at all. It's great man!!
What Branch would b better for traveling and learning technical skills Marines or Navy??

@DDanko530 - Like anything else out there, there are good days and bad days. It's just how you deal with them.

MrChestypuller1775 2 months ago
@MrChestypuller1775 - Oh! I was wondering if you were just messing with me, haha!!
I'm not too familiar with how the Marines do things so I can't help you there. Best bet is to call up a recruiter and see what the say.

@MrChestypuller1775 If you can qualify as an aviation mechanic, and work on certain fixed wing aircraft, you will be working on a navy ship!!

@KyleIsBestess - Yeah. Well, maybe not immediately after. When you get out of boot camp.

@maniacchris - Yeah, it's possible that the recruiter lumped in the monetary value of the benefits along with the salary to "sweeten the deal".

The recruiter was probably including benefits in addition to the yearly salary.

@maximus112292 - I know Verizon has one. That's why I got the Droid 2 Global, since it can be unlocked for use around the world.
