  • What other power supply has a 100% modular design and lifetime warranty like this?

    Preferably 1000-1200 watt range.

  • @Bigwil254 I know that your comment is 3 month's old but let's see the X4 1050W PSU and the X4 1200Wpsu.....

  • OMG Rodney, do you have to have to the full intro every-time, you should just make a video with all that stuff and just mention it in these videos with an annotations GGGOOODDDD

  • I asked why that my youtube email is blocked out?

what to do to fix it

  • what kind of cacitors fose this come from ??? China?????

    I tryed to email you

  • if you have to order 2 6 pin graphic connectors and 4 Sata modular connections and 4 ATA mudular connections. its got a 50 partions to do to get permition to order these parts

cooleermaster got the worst customer service price on each connector sill be 50.00 to 70.00 per one connector they ship one at a time. zi like to know if I can find other brandn mae usch as Ultra or other brand names that got Japanese Capacitors suck asa 750watt and 850 watt with removiale modular andI like to email

  • I do agree that Japanse Capacitors are the best. I try my bestr to look for it however when doing this online looking lots of version from many many many brand names. that inforamtion is not provided.

I do have one from Coolermaster. I lost some module connectors and I have to make the order for them.

the service on Coolermaster realy stinks!!!! its fucked up stinks

    this is stupid

  • Hello what other Power supply brand names that uses Japanese Capacitors I realy like to know. and still got the removable modulars for the connectors

  • will 2 1200w power supplys support the evga sr-2 motherboard while running 4 way sli

  • @beney119 you should better get the 1600W edition than 2 of those...

and you can still get a lot of more Wattage

  • @beney119

SLI GTX480 with NO overclock pulls 1600W

    its fucking stupid!

im going to get SLI GTX490 when they come out :)

  • Ultra is one of the best PSU's on the market today. The only other Power supply i would say come close to the #1 spot with Ultra would be Corsair and OCZ. Just my opinion

  • OCZ are crap, Ultra are crap too, i see nothing but people complaining that the X3 series failing, the best currently (in order of best,1st being best) Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax, Antec, Thermaltake ect ect

  • @MartinGod3992 Corsair rebrands seasonic PSU's. Their newest line is just a mix of Rebranded PC Power and Cooling and Seasonic psu's.

Corsair is not the best they are just the most prestigious.

  • @WARFOX101

ULTRA are about #10 sorry, they're cheap, low end psu's built for people not realizing this is the most important component in your computer.they have very poor ratings and arent efficient either until recently so should be avoided like a chick with HERPES!!!!

the BEST psu's BUT not in order :

SILVERSTONE, ENERMAX, ANTEC, CORSAIR, PC POWER AND COOLING, COOLERMASTER ,THERMALTAKE,BFG

then OCZ,ULTRA,SWITCHING,DEER,ORION and all the low end, poor efficiency models and makes

  • @utooberblooper You forgot Seasonic, they are probably the best PSU maker to date. There newest line of PSU's was re branded by Corsair and will be released very soon. Seasonics PSU's are getting some of the best reviews I've ever seen.

  • Rodney, I think you should use your products for at least a month before reviewing them. I owned few different models of Ultra power supply, all of them started smoking after 2 to 4 weeks of regular use. I wasn't even overclocking. RMA'd few times and same thing. I never bothered with Ultra products ever again. My opinion is that you SHOULD NEVER buy store brand products. Like Ultra from TigerDirect (Systemax) and Insignia from Best Buy.

  • @njaffar how is that possible? it is maybe something wrong because these are amazing my friend has them and been working for a good 2 months so far no problems

  • @3DGAMEMAN

    You are Monter

  • the 850w is impossible to find.

  • shit...these would be brilliant in a LANbox. small form factor, complete modularity, and considerable power. I WANT IT!!!! I just wish they had stuck with the flat, "flexforce" cables that came with the X3

  • ı mean i7 920 or the i7 860

  • i7 860 is faster

  • The socket 1156 I7 860 is known to be a little faster in some benchmarks and has been overclocked to 6.0GHz....But i would still go with the socket1366 I7 920 just because it is said the socket 1366 boards will be supporting the new 6 core Gulftowns when they come out later this year.

  • @WARFOX101 Can be overclock the i7 870 to 6.0 Ghz? If you're drunk, at least invite me a drink =)

  • Didn't even know these existed, sweet, thx, 5/5

  • They look pretty darn nice!

  • on 3 6+2 pins? my corsair 750 has 4 6+2 pins, but then again its not modular but i have a haf 932....

  • how much is the value of this source

  • Rodney, I think you're the man who was able to make capacitor makers to "up" their standards, or at least come in par with with the Japanese brand capacitors, I started to hear people over the counter on computer stores asking if the psu's they're buying have Japanese capacitors, and the sales guy would either scratch his head or go on the phone to ask for more information, which is really nice though, we get the benefit of having quality products with no extra charge.

  • @salsalani haha yes he is persistent.. maybe that means ALL MOTHERBOARD TRAYS WILL BE REMOVABLE!

  • The green lights arn't the only selling point, but when all the power suppleis are so closely related in stats, the lights put it above the competion even if it's $20 more.

  • I'd consider this power supply more if I wasn't mesmorized by the green lightso n the XFX 850 Power Supply

  • ı was wondering should ı get a i7 920 or i7 750

  • if going with an x58 i7 computer either get the 920 or the xeon processor with equal stats. Xeon is the same except it has slightly better casing, which improves cooling a few degrees.

  • that would be on your needs which is not our concern

  • Corsair makes much better quality PSUs.

  • Maybe, but Corsiar seems to be the most expensive brand in everything they make. I think they're just the same as everyone else, but with some extra cost for brand name.

  • Thanks people for your replies

  • Ultra rocks

  • review? or advertisement! you decide!

  • Who is he quoting in reference to the Japanese Capacitors?

  • "What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan."

    -Marty McFly

  • lol, back to the future

  • i have the ultra x3, 1000-watt, what are the main differences?

The 100% modular(ity?ness?) is pretty sweet. Its easy to keep cables organized.

  • 100% kickass. called it

  • i was wondering do you sell your product's and if you do how mutch you want for this power supply

and how you get your product

  • hello ppl, i am wondering if i run SLI, what should be the min power supplies watt .... just say if i have a budget constraints. thanks.

  • well i cant really say because different model card uses different amount of power.... but i can roughly say atleast 600W

  • Don't only pay attention to watts rating. Of greater significance is the amps/rail, and also the total amps capability of the 12 volt rails combined. The amps rating determines how much current can be supplied to your vid cards--any cards specs will give you a minimum requirement for the amps it requires. Not sure how that works for SLI--but probably you should assume 2 cards need twice or near to twice the amps as one.

  • i wish you get to show us what's inside these psus rodney :D

  • that usually voids warranty

  • i know. but it's not like rodney will be using that warranty anyway. he's reviewing it, come on :D

  • might break his contract for reviewing the item

  • it's in the contract?

what about those reviews that open it?

  • Well I'm not 100% sure, but I'm assuming Rodney gets these things for free since he's a well known reviewer. Others probably but the items themselves and in that case they can do whatever they want with it.

That's what I'm thinking, don't quote me on it though. :P

  • Any info on effiency? 80+, 80+ Bronze, Silver, or Gold?

  • 80+ he says... nothing else...

  • *bronze

  • Tiger Direct reviewed these, they said they were getting 85% efficiency under typical (60%) load.

  • Yeah I read a review in Driverheaven. Typical efficiency is quite good, but at 100% load it struggles to stay above 80%. Very handy for LAN-boxes though, because of it's compact size and 100% modularity.

  • he said bronze.

  • Yes, but the 80+ test weighs efficiency under typical load more than efficiency under peak load. 80+ bronze only means that this power supply has an efficiency above 85% under typical load (60%). How much the efficiency drops at peak load depends on different PSUs, not necessarily the 80+ award.

  • the power supply looked good, but those readings were way off what they should be.

there shouldn't be that much variation in the voltages.

  • They weren't that far out.

  • yeah but power supplies have to be really accurate. i think more than 0.03V for each voltage reading is pushing it..

  • those voltages are perfectley fine...

on all the rails (exept for the 12v) you should be within 5% of what it should be.

for the 12v the margin is 10%.

so on the 5v you shouldn't deviate more then 0.25v. for the 3v it would be 0.165v.

    so these voltages are perfect.

  • Windows 7 ftw

  • 100% kickass?

    seriously?

I mean it's made by ultra.....

  • lol @ "have a listen to the fan" .. *click* .. *silence*

    very detailed review! 5* =)

  • Thanks for the tips, I had never thought of all of those factors before!

  • 3DGAMEMAN Thanks for talking loud in all of your videos, it really helps on some laptops that don't have very loud built in speakers (i hate toshiba for that)

  • Hmmm... interesting rating! I am thinkin of getting the 850W model, but I was amazed to find a product that has only 80+ Certificate and no japanese capacitors to be rated "100% kickass". Sounds like a solid argument to me for buying one :)

  • I hope i can get these too in belgium. These PSUs seem to be very awesome since they are completely modular.

    What pricerange will they have?

  • rodney i think u wrote elite wrong.. u wrote EVGA eleet.

  • 100% modular is cool but whats the point of having a modular 24pin??? to replace it with shorter/longer one?

  • no.o.. its just to be completely modular.. u cant use other extension for the 24pin that is included to another one u find on the shop. this coz the included cable is made for that reason.. in fact it also has labels on the connector to tell u which part goes to psu and other to motherboard

  • Just to be able to say "100% modular"

  • what compasters does it use

if they don't use one form Japan

  • i guess chinese? XD

  • chinese a lot cheep made stuff comes from China

  • yea ^^

  • I can't find any of Ultra's PSU's on newegg. I couldn't even find info on these PSU's on Ultra's own website, they have a link to it but absolutely nothing after you click on it. at least from what I saw. I would love to be able to include one of them in a future build, but can't find anywhere to buy them =(

  • I think they have them on tigerdirect

  • TigerDirect or CompUSA have them, Ultra is made by Systemax who owns CompUSA and TigerDirect.

  • Does TigerDirect do business in Canada?

  • Yes, just go to TigerDirectDOTca

  • Of course, go to the site provided above.

  • damn I've been hearing a lot about the Ultra power supplies lately

  • These power supplies look amazing. I can't believe the 1200W model is in the same form factor as the 850W

  • thanks for the informations for how to choose a power supplie : D Awesome!

  • That fan is a hell of a lot quieter than mine.

  • Rodney: You are a bit out of focus :-(

Product: 100% modular is really kickass!

  • This, adjust your focus out the way a little Rodney.

  • They are pretty small, especially the 1200w one. I can imagine the 1600W... :)

  • 100% modular coooool

  • I understand that you have a 1050 watt right now, will you switch to this 1200w for your system Rodney?

  • 1200 watt without being large, nice.

  • What I don't understand, is how people can be confused as to what the word modular means, but they aren't confused at all by all the numbers. Go figure.

  • Rodney is a good lookin guy.

  • It would have been nice if you had gone over how many of and how long each connector is. Also, the 5 minute buyers guide narrative on every PSU review is unnecessary. It would be great if you focused more on the features of the particular PSU you are reviewing, the amps the watts and maybe a checklist for each of the standard features, apfc, Japanese caps, etc. it has instead of explaining the basics of PSU products in general every time. Or better yet just list what is missing if anything.$.02

  • Those are very good PS.s

  • i love the fact that there is only 1 +12v rail, all modular and r some what cheap, great review

  • This might be retarded but, what does modular mean ? is it the size of the PSU ?

  • Modular PSUs is PSUs that have small outputs for the cables, with out having around 5-10 cables that are hardwired to the PSU it self.

  • no it means how the cables are u see in this u can add and take off cables this means modular and there are semi modular power supplies too, there are only some fully modular power supply like this

  • worst english ever?

  • Says the person that said worst instead of worse. Way to go champ.

  • hahaha, you better be trollin HuffPCair

    bahahaha

  • and I'm just helping YOU better your english

btw, did your mum allow you to swear? I think not!

  • Modular is the the detachable connector cables you see in the video so you can use the ones that you need, and put away the others you don't. It increases airflow in your case and reduces the mess.

  • Modular Power Supplies allow you to disconnect or connect certain cables for you setup type (Note the plugs and no wires running directly out of the PSU), to reduce wire cluster.

  • it means you unplug the cables u don't need

  • can the 1200w handle

the same system as u have, but with 2x evga 295 gtx??

  • Yeah it can

  • thnx,,, i more thing,,, what is 80+,, and is there any with gold 80+?

  • 80+ is how effiencent the power supply is the ratings are from high to low

    80+ gold

    80+ silver

    80+ bronze

    80+

the only type i no with 80+ gold is ocz gold series but they cost alot

  • i have the Corsair HX 850W with 80+gold. it has also modular cable-system and is in my opinion excellent. i power 2 4890 and a phenom 955 at 4x4.0GHZ with it. costs around 200$

  • 4X4.0GHZ U DONT MEAN U HAVE 16 GHZ=)) CAUSE IF SO U ARE MISTAKING IF U MEAN 4 CORES THEN OK :d

  • I only buy corsair power supplies. they are just the best :)

i'm very brand-loyal, i guess you could say im a fanboy.

  • LOVE CORSAIR, i have the xms ddr3, h50, and the hx 750 running on my pc. i would have gone with the case they have but i felt it was a bit on the heavy side

  • soo will this be an issue for SLI???

  • corsair has a few with 80+ gold :)

  • ya i had that one and I loved it until I plugged my drives into a bad 12 rail, and it popped some of them, making them spark and smoke... a sad day indeed. I should have left everything as it was. The worst thing was that I first thought I just blew a fuse in the PSU. I've seen it happen on some other power supplies, so I cracked it open, voiding the warranty, only to find there was no fuse to blow!

All said and done, I'd buy another one. The voltage stability on it was amazing.

  • actually it was the HX, 80+ silver. I can't find the 80+ gold one on Newegg.

  • its cuz they fucked it up lol

  • no they fucked it up its silver lol

  • i cant find this Power Supplies @ new egg

  • thats because there really new.

  • Hey Rodeny can you do a review on a Tagan BZ or Pc & Power Cooling Turbo Cool Power Supplies?

  • I am so confident in Rodney, that I 5* every video of his because I KNOW that it will be awesome!

7 minutes later I see that I was right again!

    Kickass review!

  • Nice, do these use Seasonic parts?

  • Comment removed

  • Cool. I gotta get one!

  • People like you are sooo annoying!!! Grow up.

    first arguement!
