  • how are you doing???

  • Thank you for this... I am still trying to decide what to do:) Hard decision but I do agree with you!!

  • Congrats on your weight loss. I wonder what the ratio of keeping the weight off is for both. Seems with the band being adjustable you can always go in for a fill to get back on track but with bypass you can't

  • I have had BOTH surgeries Ilost 3 stone with lap band then couldnt eat or drink ANYTHING without vomiting so was hospitilses for malnutrition at 27 stone for gods sake

so my band was taken out by one surgeon and rny bypass done AT THE SAME TIME by another sirgeon and what i HAVE LEARNED FOR SURE -is that its not EITHER SURGERY THAT DOES THE WORK ITS ONLY YOURSELF I strictly control my intke mainly protein between 800 and 1000 calories per day whic is way to low but because of the ...(contd)

  • You know you can gain all your weight back from GBS, right? and getting GBS doesn't cure you from being a food addict.

Unfortunately what i see with a lot of gastric bypass patients is that they never learn how to eat or why they were over weight in the first place.

I hope you beat the odds, msl.

  • Wow way to focus on the negative there.

  • You're welcome, hun.

  • Another thing about Lap Bands that most people are unaware of is that in general Lap Bands are not permanent and need to be replaced withing 10 years of the replacement. Who wants to repeat the procedure if you don't have too . Just food for thought for anyone on the fence as to which procedure to choose. ;)

  • I wanted Dr. Enochs to do my Lap-Band surgery but now that I really want the sleeve I have to find another surgeon. I've researched surgeons in the area but I'm not comfortable with their numbers so I may have to travel to charlotte where they have more experience performing VSG. Thanks for sharing!

  • I REGRET having my surgery. I had alot of complications with my RNY. I am 2 months out and lost over 70lbs. I wished I went lapband but my health issues were just not going to let it.

  • Wow your video quality is fantastic!...what kind of camera do you use?

  • I use a FlipVideo to record.

  • Thanks..it's the same camera I use but the quality of your videos are much better for some reason.

  • Ditto. I knew I would have cheated the band, and I didn't want to have to go in for fills. Main reasons for me. My sister had the band. So far, so good for her (8 mos postop she's lost 48 lb with fills & unfills to find a happy medium). But for me, only choice that made sense was RNY (2 yrs out, I'm down over 160 lb, maintaining now over 1 year, and NO complications). I don't regret it for a minute!

  • Well said. I based my decision by exactly the same reasons. I am 10 mo out & have not regretted it.

  • Thanks for posting these videos! I am seeing my surgeon for the first time today and I know he's going to ask me why I want the bypass. I have my reasons... but I wondered if they were valid. They go right along with yours so they can't be unreasonable, right? This was so comforting. Thanks!

  • Great Videos and great observations about the realities of both surgeries. Bottom Line, No FREE passes on either one, That is what I have learned as well! :) Cheers!

  • i def. agree with you and pretty much chose gastric bypass for the same reasons. great video!

  • I completely agree with everything you said here. Pretty much the same thought process I had. Particularly with the fills and port and all that - I move around all the time, so having to go in for continual fills was not going to happen. Great vid!

  • Can you please do a video about your eating habits and exercise routine? I know you do couch to 5k, do you do anything else?

  • Amen! I totally agree on the changing lifestyle habits front - that's the number one thing I'm trying to change. The scale will follow - and I want to come out of the first year with habits that I can effortlessly keep up, not build from scratch. Great videos!

  • My sister has lap-band, lost 50 pounds and then gained it back. I was initially planning to have lap-band, but I decided to have RNY instead because she told me that she wished she's had RNY. I know some people are successful with lapband, but I'm with you- I wouldn't be one of them.

  • This vid really helped a lot. You're the third person today to confirm what I had been thinking as to bypass or band.
