  • who is the british commentator

  • @JACOBACKLEY1997 David Hobbs.

  • @BTBattlefronTV he was the worst

  • Sad to say that slick is one of many to have been killed at daytona ....

  • damn look how old that is thas krazy

  • I would love to get digitally remastered DVD's of every single Nascar Cup series only races in 1983 (The year I was born lol)

  • This was 1983 - pe-restrictor plate days. Cars were hitting well over 200 mph in those days; Elliott qualified on the pole at Daytona in '85 at over 210 and at Talladega at over 212 mph. Rusty was just never very good - or lucky - at Daytona and Talladega.

  • He got hospitalized because of this accident, according to Wikipedia.

  • very bad day. 2 flips. 1 fatal.

    R.I.P. Bruce Jacobi

  • I think Rusty had four big flips in his career...this one, one at Bristol in 1988 in practice and the two in '93 at Daytona and Talladega...The Bristol crash is the only one that didn't happen in the infield.

  • Did that Rusty Wallace ever amount to anything?

(Before a bunch of hate is directed my way, I'm being sarcastic)

  • HHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY CCCCCCCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that was big

  • Compared to his later 2 huge rolls, I have to say this one wasn't that bad.

  • loved that old big ass daytona leaderboard

  • Wasnt Slcik Johnson killed at talledega a few years later?

  • Slick was killed in the ARCA 200 at Daytona in 1990

  • no

Slick was killed at Talladega in 1990

  • Actually ECM is correct, Julius "Slick" Johnson did indeed die after a wreck in the 1990 ARCA 200 at Daytona. It was the same race that saw the track worker get hit by a spinning car as well as Ramo Stott flipping wildly down the backstretch.

  • that was at almost the same spot where he fliped 10 years later scaryy

  • ok now it works :)

  • is there audio or is my pc messed up?

  • Glad they tore down that damn scoreboard. It was always in the way!

  • the track used to be around a swamp but theres more build up now.

  • Cripes so this accident came before he flipped at Dega and Daytona

  • I think Rusty might have logged more time upside-down than any other driver in Cup history.

  • He's the only driver to finish the race upside down in the air.

  • Actually Elliott Sadler did that at Talladega a couple years ago too, he had the blowover on the backstretch in '03 and I think it was the next year he flipped again at the finish line but landed on all 4 wheels.

  • The 2nd time Elliot flipped it was in the tri-oval on the last lap and he actually finished 22nd.

  • that was actually the 3rd time sadler flipped, u have 2 count the time in practice at michigan when he rolled 11 times in turn 3

  • I just wish there was better video of the Michigan flip.

  • same, 2 bad they didnt televise practice back then

  • he came back on his wheels before he crossed the flinish line

  • @Jnmcda0 Clint Bowyer finished upside-down and Jimmy Spencer finished a race after going in the air.

  • There wasnt any restiter plates in 1983

  • Wow I don't remember seeing this one. Seems strange that USA network was covering this.

  • How come we never heard of this wreck when he flipped in 93?

  • dont u guys love how the sign gets in the way at the most precose time

  • that was the second bad wreck of the day frist one the man was in a coma for years and end up dying

  • Yeah, that was Bruce Jacobi.

  • Thank you so much for posting this!! ive been looking forever!!

i guess wallace and daytona just dont mix...

  • wallace and restrictor plates dont mix.... did he ever won a RP race?

  • nope

  • @freshgeek89

If I remember right he DID win the Bud Shootout in 1998...but he never won a points-counting race at a plate track. Anyway, this was a few years before the plates...

  • Well, Rusty did win the Bud Shootout in 1998, but it's a non-point race, so, unfortunately, it doesn't count. But he got better at Daytona and Talladega later in his years. If he had still drove for another couple of years, he may have won a restrictor plater race.

  • @wwetnaecw - Well, not that this really counts, but he won a Bud Shootout at Daytona. Not a points race.... but that is the extent of his plate wins. Bummer.....

  • @wwetnaecw he had a few years in the late 90s where he had one of the cars to beat at Daytona, just never could get the win
