It's the Gergoth boss. It's actually a pretty hard boss - I died so many times trying to beat it in Julius Mode because I was at such a low level. Actually, I was barely at level 8 when I fought Gergoth and I leveled up to like 13 or 14 after beating it (after several attempts and strategies)

Yeah he had to be overpowered in AOS because there weren't any other playable characters or (in the most basic sense of the word) story. AOS was basically just a run-through of the castle with you being all powered-up -- you could skip straight to the final boss in AOS and beat him without leveling up at all if you were careful.

Like in the old days, these 3 characters are like when Trevor, Alucard and Sypha Belnades fought agaisnt Dracula in Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse from NES. It just lacked a descendent of Grant. hehehe!
