Health Insurance is mostly regulated by the states and federal agencies. The industry is one of the most regulated there is. If someone is denied coverage based on a preexisting condition, it's because govt regulators allow it. Govt regulators also allow insurance monopolies, which prevents competition and drives up costs. They allow them to pick and choose who to insure. Government over site created this mess. Putting more government in our lives is not the answer. Government is the problem.

a regular appointment under my current plan is 6-8 weeks. You can't estimate his cost per visit with out knowing his income and the number of visits per year, so you made up the $450 visit cost to scare people.
Which is the problem with your $500->$450 claim. Some people will have drastically increased healthcare costs, some will have drastically reduced or eliminated healthcare costs. You can't say "He'll only save a little" without the personal details of the patient.

I don't see the Dr. often however some time ago Kaiser Permanente here in CA. had a 6-8 week wait. Anyone can call and ask them...anyway I get around it by calling the nurse in the morning and waiting for a cancellation. I almost always get in on the same day if I call the nurse for cancellations.

I work in health care. All that I see is the left wanting to control MORE and MORE aspects of our lives on a daily basis. Why would Americans want you to control more of our heath care when you can't even keep MediCare and MedicAid under a respectable amount of control and make it work. How about you do some real Health care tort reform and cut costs for production and distribution before you socialize our system and cripple the greatest health care system IN THE WORLD.

MedicAid is for the lower class/poverty stricken citizen who cannot afford private insurance. There is already a public option and it is massively in debt. If you really want to do something with the public option. Lower the salary minimum so that more people can receive it. Creating a social form of medicine is asinine as all that will do is create rationing of health care services as it slowly bankrupts the private industry.
Noone wants to socialize medicine, we're talking about a public, government run health care program that any one can use and that can compete with the private companies who are currently over charging and providing insufficient coverage. If the private health care industry can't keep up with the supposedly horribly inefficient government option then it deserves to die. And by the way, we already ration health care, by keeping low income individuals out of the system and denying coverage.

First, Medicaid and medicare and social security are not failures. If they had been, Regan or Bush Sr. or Bush Jr. would have done away with them. Oh, and the reason for rationing is profit. Believe or not, there are people in charge of health insurance companies who put their money over the well being of the people they insure, just like you apparently put your money before the people they don't. As long as they make big profits off denying care and raising prices and can get away with it because we have no other options, nothing will get better.

The answer to this problem is economics 101. Obama must have missed this course. This is a supply and demand problem. Tort reform will address the supply side of the equation. Tort reform will protect healthcare professionals and result in more access and lower costs and it will eliminate unnecessary tests and treatments. Eliminating free emergency room healthcare to illegal aliens will address the demand side of this issue. How much do 25 million illegal aliens effect costs for the rest of us?

Health Insurance is mostly regulated by the states and federal agencies. The industry is one of the most regulated there is. If someone is denied coverage based on a preexisting condition, it's because govt regulators allow it. Govt regulators also allow insurance monopolies, which prevents competition and drives up costs. They allow them to pick and choose who to insure. Government over site created this mess. Putting more government in our lives is not the answer. Government is the problem.

a regular appointment under my current plan is 6-8 weeks. You can't estimate his cost per visit with out knowing his income and the number of visits per year, so you made up the $450 visit cost to scare people.

Which is the problem with your $500->$450 claim. Some people will have drastically increased healthcare costs, some will have drastically reduced or eliminated healthcare costs. You can't say "He'll only save a little" without the personal details of the patient.

I don't see the Dr. often however some time ago Kaiser Permanente here in CA. had a 6-8 week wait. Anyone can call and ask them...anyway I get around it by calling the nurse in the morning and waiting for a cancellation. I almost always get in on the same day if I call the nurse for cancellations.

I paid into the system for over 40 years and last year I retired. Now all the people who voted for Obama can pay all my medical bills under the "free" health care system. And hopefully soon, I won't have to pay anymore HMO premiums. YOUR money thanks to YOUR Obama will pay it for me. Since I am retired I am out of the loop. It's not the biggest debt in history. By percentage of GDP (all that really counts) the USA was in far worse shape circa 1944/1945. See the wikipedia page on the US public debt or search the web to learn about how the Republican party lies by using (Debt, Spend, Blame) cycles and then blames the democrats for the debt. If health care is so good in those countries, then how come their citizens come here for our health care? No one goes to Taiwan, Canada, Germany, France or Britain. Because America has the highest cancer survival rates in the world. People do travel outside the US for Dental or other medical treatments to save money. It's called medical tourism. A CNN report dated Feb 28, 2008 warns people of the dangers of doing just that. They recommend you avoid the government run public hospitals, (socialist hospitals) and stick with the small private hospitals.

I like PAYGO a lot, I wish it was used more often in government. Although I think healthcare "now" is problematic for PAYGO as there are population bubbles hitting the most expensive years and it's probably less shocking to the economy to take part of that as debt rather than an annual PAYGO scheme. MedicAid is for the lower class/poverty stricken citizen who cannot afford private insurance. There is already a public option and it is massively in debt. If you really want to do something with the public option. Lower the salary minimum so that more people can receive it. Creating a social form of medicine is asinine as all that will do is create rationing of health care services as it slowly bankrupts the private industry.

Tort reform will protect healthcare professionals and result in more access and lower costs and it will eliminate unnecessary tests and treatments. Eliminating free emergency room healthcare to illegal aliens will address the demand side of this issue. How much do 25 million illegal aliens effect costs for the rest of us?
