Where was this song, when I was seeing this guy named Joe. Joe was mean, and abusive. After he was gone, I was happy, and had my right mind. Then he would come back, and I was miserable. He found another victim, and married her. I found out later, he was put in jail for domestic abuse. I'm not surprised. I would have done it as well, but he threatend me. So, glad that has passed. I'm happily married now. God is good!

This song sometimes reminds me of my ex. He's still in my life because our daughter lives with me and while he at times gets on my nerves, I've learned to accept him how he is. I divorced him for a reason, and I no longer resent him for not changing for the better. Acceptance of someone releases a lot of pent up feelings that need to go away. It's healthier that way, and easier to move on.

I just took a long drive to clear my head and listened to the whole Do You Believe Me Now cd. I had not heard True Believer. Wow. Powerful song. Jimmy didn't write it, but he sings the hell out of it and I'm sure he wouldn't sing it if it couldn't relate to it. I heard Jimmy say he stands by all 12 songs. The whole mess of songs are incredible. I needed them just about now. Thank you, Jimmy, for the ones you wrote and for your delivery and purity on all of them. I feel refueled!
I had been listening to Jimmy's songs from both the Sarah Smile and Do You Believe Me Now albums. And, as I think we all should if we are true fans, I went and bought both cd's. Has anyone noticed differences on a few of the songs between what we hear online and what is on his cd's? Stay Gone online is a little different. Slower maybe. Pitch is different. Both are good, but there are definitely differences. I like this version of Stay Gone best. He milks his words more.

I've met Jimmy twice and he is one of the nicest, most down to earth people I have ever encountered. And he can SING! I honestly think he sounds just as good if not better with just his guitar. He is AMAZING. I have been a fan since day 1 and always will be!

This song affects me in a good way, in fact it has helped me gain the strength and the words to say what really needed to be said once to my first husband. It hits me really close to home, My first husband was physically, emotionally abusive to the point of forcing me to break the law. It took 3 months but I finally got the leave I needed, he went to jail for something unrelated to what he was doing to me. I left him after then and I remember writing him a letter sending him this song. Its true

Where was this song, when I was seeing this guy named Joe. Joe was mean, and abusive. After he was gone, I was happy, and had my right mind. Then he would come back, and I was miserable. He found another victim, and married her. I found out later, he was put in jail for domestic abuse. I'm not surprised. I would have done it as well, but he threatend me. So, glad that has passed. I'm happily married now. God is good!

This songs kills me but yet it heals. Going through the big ugly "D." Who would have thought it would be easier to get over someone if they would just stay away and not pretend to still love you. this reminds me of my ex. i was lied to and cheated one many different times and one of them was on my birthday and i got fed up with it and got out while i could but i ended up going back and continued getting lied to, so i left again, i was constantly being treatws like shit and i dealt with it, i gave out chance after chance and nothing changed, but now that iv moved on im the "lair" but i couldnt be any happier that iv moved on and let go.
it was for the best.

@DemmiXxX yeah, it was hard to let go but im glad i did, i couldnt deal with it anymore, it caused way to much pain and misery in my life, i tried so hard to let go so long ago but i couldnt and i finally did when someone who was like a brother to me was there for me through everything and i ended up liking him as more then a brother and now we're dating and i couldnt be any happier. it'll get better, just think of how you dont need that and when you do leave he'll realize what he lost.

I bought this cd when i first seperated from my husband, I listened to it over and over again. Now I'm recently divorced & as much as i would like to stay friends with my ex...it's best for him to "stay gone!" This songs says exactly how I feel.
Beside the fact that Jimmy has an incredible voice, he is so easy on the eyes...& has the most beautiful lips. I like watching this video because of all the close ups of him (*_~)

Love love LOVE this song; and every other song by Jimmy Wayne, but this one is by far my favorite. Truly and amazing artist. I saw him in concert with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bently and i wish he had sang more than the 3 or 4 that he did. Looking forward to hearing more from him! :):)

@skullcandii0o Whilst I don’t know your situation, thinking like that actually cost me my marriage because instead of loving my wife the way I should have and communicating what I felt with her, I simply tried to “prepare myself for the worst” and that led to a break down in every area of our relationship and eventually no relationship. I know what you mean about the relief the song brings, but if you want that relationship look at it intensely before you start thinking it will be lost.

I would be the woman he's describing in the video. I caused the pain and separation to happen, and even though I would like to go back, I can't. So, this is my ex's song to me, and that hurts, but it's a soothing hurt, if that makes sense, meaning it hurts a little less every time I hear it. To KSG, I am sorry. This song sometimes reminds me of my ex. He's still in my life because our daughter lives with me and while he at times gets on my nerves, I've learned to accept him how he is. I divorced him for a reason, and I no longer resent him for not changing for the better. Acceptance of someone releases a lot of pent up feelings that need to go away. It's healthier that way, and easier to move on.

I just took a long drive to clear my head and listened to the whole Do You Believe Me Now cd. I had not heard True Believer. Wow. Powerful song. Jimmy didn't write it, but he sings the hell out of it and I'm sure he wouldn't sing it if it couldn't relate to it. I heard Jimmy say he stands by all 12 songs. The whole mess of songs are incredible. I needed them just about now. Thank you, Jimmy, for the ones you wrote and for your delivery and purity on all of them. I feel refueled!

I had been listening to Jimmy's songs from both the Sarah Smile and Do You Believe Me Now albums. And, as I think we all should if we are true fans, I went and bought both cd's. Has anyone noticed differences on a few of the songs between what we hear online and what is on his cd's? Stay Gone online is a little different. Slower maybe. Pitch is different. Both are good, but there are definitely differences. I like this version of Stay Gone best. He milks his words more.

The version of "Stay Gone" on the album "Do You Believe Me Now" is a re-recording. The original single "Stay Gone" appeared on Wayne's eponymous debut "Jimmy Wayne", released in 2003. It contains the recording of "Stay Gone" featured in this video.
