Song became a hit in Philly ca 1961 when the Geator Jerry Blavat started to play it. He used to introduce it as by Rene & Ray, the West Coast Two. It was a big slow dance at record hops here, and finally, it's popularity caused Dick Clark to play it a few times. Should have been much bigger. Great duo, probably inspired by Robert & Johnny.
