  • Great info man,,thanks

  • hey very nice video! Try to get a sm57 for this kind of reviews...

  • dude i have a valve Marshall MA100h ...it have a booster...so i can have a pretty nice heavy metal/ almost thrash distorsion but i need some extra to have that killer palmute sound that im looking for.... if i combine that with a TS-9 i be able to get that thrash metal tone that im looking for ?

I dont want to buy a distorsion pedal. ( i was thinking in a metal muff nano )..but..i feel that its not right with a marshall head...

    what are your recomendations ?

    nice vid

  • I like to put a Demeter Compulator optical compression pedal in front of the tube screamer. It's like magical tone juice. Everything sounds great, and somehow, feels better.

Makes everything simultaneously dirtier, and cleaner.

  • The first seconds made me think it was going to be annoying.

But you're pretty good at explaining stuff.

Hope you do more of these in the future

  • that guitar fits Beelzeboss From Pick of Destiny

  • you're right on with your "setting your amps at 12 oclock as the starting point". I set every amp, usually, the same. Bass 12, mid-9, treble 12, presence 12.

  • your razorback make jealous Lol

  • Haha your so awesome! like a rapper guy, just thats your metal! haha so funny!

  • What settings were you using on the tube screamer for this vid?

  • I think I know what OD pedal I'm getting now :D

  • Nice demo!

  • can this be used as a boost aswell ?

  • this is the only video i've found where someone uses the pedal with heavy distortion.Thank you!!

  • turbo-negro!

  • you need to mic your amp or use a pod, cause youre not getting a very good idea of how any of this sounds, so a mic would be amazing : D

  • Dude, where would you put the pedal if your using a boss multi fx and in the 4 cable way?

  • I want to buy this guy a beer! :)

  • I love your videos and all. theyre super helpful! the only gripe i have is the sound and video quality. broskii get yourself a better camera and i will smile more when i see your vids! :D

  • Great video,thanks very much

  • what is the name of intro music?

  • Hey man...do you run your ISP before or after your TS9? Is there any consensus on this chaining? Gracias!

  • I just purchased an Ibanez tube screamer and it produces some nasty feedback on my vox ad50vt-xl on the dirty channels and I was wondering if the Boss NS-2 would cure this feedback issue or does that only get rid of static from the amp? Thanks

  • will this pedal sound good with regular amp distortion or do u need a distortion pedal to get the full richness of the distortion

  • Dude why did you stop making vids? You were one of the few who did honest gear vids!!!!

  • i have a satchurator and i want a boost for lead work can i use this pedal?? i'm usung a marshall 100dfx amp ( not a tube amp) plzz answer

  • so say i throw this in front of a randall ninja V2, along with a gate. no problems?

  • whats the song at 2:28

  • 日本人の僕ですが、TS-9よりもギターが気になりますww

    素晴らしいギターですねwカッコいいw

  • jealous of your guitar, nice setup

  • I'll stick with my boss metal zone.

  • Quick question Mizike!!!! i'm about to buy an Overdrive pedal, but i'm not sure what to choose i'm looking for a fat sound, Petrucci oriented, but my options to buy are, A TS9 or Zakk wylde Overdrive pedal or a Marshall BluesBreaker2 pedal. Which one would you recommend me?

  • I have a Mt-2 metal zone, and a Crybaby original. Im fairly new to what pedals do so i was wonder if i could incorporate this pedal in what i have?

  • hey what are your settings on the ts-9? and i have the mxr gt-od, would it be better to run it before the pre amp or in the fx loop? great vid btw, sick gear!

  • nice gear dude i love dean but not into their new models if i get another guitar probably going to be dbzs new line

  • you can use that and at solos?kirk hammett does i think....

  • love 2:29 always with you always with me of Uncle Satch!

  • Do they have a overdrive pedal on Meth?

  • @guitarmessiah95 yeah, that little orange boss od pedal, its like a drug lord or something.

  • So before we start our knobs should be at 12 o clock? Where have I heard this before......

  • thanks bro helped alot i have a peavey valve king and its good for heavy rock but im into heaver stuff like metalcore and hopefully it will give it the boost it needs.

  • I have to say...

I watch gear review ALL the time...

Yours are about the most interesting and entertaining.

Keep Rockin Friend! and God Bless

  • Man, I own an Engl Powerball head, Jackson SL2H, Morley Bad Horsie Steve Vai signature wah and I just want to get a real good lead sound. Could I do that, if I boost my lead channel with the tube screamer? or maxon od808?

  • I have a zakk wylde overdrive but im thinking of getting this or the boss overdrive or super OD what do you think would be the best or should i just keep with the ZW

  • @adamw98 keep it, its slightly better

  • What else do i need beside a noise ISP noise redudion, a ibanez tube screamer TS-9 and a zoom 2.1 effects pedal what other things do i need.

  • Hey man your videos are great. Informative but not boring. You're also a good player :p keep up the good work man!

  • your fucking awesome

  • Im a meatllica fan. i saw that kirk uses this does he put it on a distorded sound and uses the tube screamer? and what should i get for a metallica tone

  • How would this sound with my Vox Pathfinder 15/15R.. Its has more of a vintage hard rock sound when i turn the gain up and i got a Boss DS-1 Distortion Pedal which isnt doin the trick for me it(its not a "heavymetal"" enough sound uno) ...just let me know thanks

  • Motherfuckin' Mizike!

  • Cool dude, you've explained the tube screamer very well, I'm glad you pointed out getting a noise suppressor or gate to kill the sound.

  • the mesa is beast!!!!

  • were you using the distortion of your amp? or distortion pedal? would it sound good if I put this ts9 with a distortion pedal?

  • ok, i have pretty decent distortion for rythme stuff, but i was looking for something to improve the tone of my lead stuff. would this pedal be good to add on for metal solos and all?

  • is that a mesa boogie rectifier solo head or the roadking? i have the roadster i was just curious.

  • is this pedal meant to be used as a gain boost/overdrive or a transtube emulator?

  • setting an overdrive pedal as a boost (distortion really low, volume really high) can it be used to tighten up the sound? like a Mesa dual rectifier for example. they have a really loose sounding distortion. if you would put this pedal infront of it would it tighten up the sound?

  • man i swear i need this pedal

  • so this would be good for playing something lyk Parkway Drive???

  • This would go straight from the guitar to the input jack, not the effects loop, right?

  • @polishedbullet right.

  • do you think the ts9 would sound good with a marshall valvestate and gibson les paul studio for boosting my metal tone?

  • You look tiny behind that huge V guitar.

  • your´re cool, man!

  • I laughed my ass off when I heard his 'clean' xD I sounded like a clean guitar with the tone knob all the way down with old rusty behringer strings

  • The tube screamer makes your amp come alive the best pedal I ever bought!!!

  • This or T-Rex MAB Overdrive for a Vox VT30? :)

  • Great job bro, best vid tutorial I"ve ever seen.

  • how good is this with rock n roll? also like heavy riffs and stuff

  • I use an emg h4, a boss me-50, and a vox hybrid amp. im thinking about getting this to give me a really good bullet for my valentine sound. will this help? also what do you suggest for getting rid of a bit of hum? thanks alot!

  • @Nda228 Noise gate to get rid of the hum, and you could probably get a good bullet sound outta this, i would also suggest looking at a Boss ML-2

  • @dopewithabass aight will do, cheers man

  • Do you run these in front of the amp or in the loop?

  • i bet he uses it in front of the amp

  • @Voraax always use overdrive/distortion in front of the amp never in the loop

  • Sweet vid...good review....looking at getting the ts9 and the crybaby 95q wah....guitar chat - ya, i caught it! Rock on man!

  • you look like a hologram when your holding the pedal!

  • you da man

    mettulz

  • AWESOME! haha=)

  • i love your videos. You totally sold me on the ISP Decimator, and you do great reviews of other pedals.

  • What do u mean?

  • great review, i have all the knobs on mine set a 12 o'clock and it sounds great

  • I have searched, and searched... AND searched.... and I've finally found someone who knows how to explain and help other guitarists find the gear that suits them. Thank you bro! You have a new subscriber!!

  • Great review bro! It's time to put my TS9 into action.

  • Great review! ibanez should pay you if they already dont, cause you have just about sold me it.

  • i dont think ill need this. all its doing is adding mids. i can do that with my eq

  • if anyone knows, i have a vox vt50 which is kind of a hybrid with a tube for pre-amp. would this pedal still be a good addition?

  • love your guitar

  • Hey Mizike, is that the Boss NS-1 at the beginning of your pedal setup? And is that the oversize cab you're playing through? Re Tube Screamer: I'll usually turn the drive all the way down and the tone to 6-ish, works well for death metal @ Bb. :)

  • Dude u got Mesa Dual/Triple Rectifier?

  • i do! triple all the way!

  • i dont know about that pedal, but i'll take that amp

  • must steal...that..PEDAL....and the BEANIE!!!!!!!

  • You need more COWBELL!!!!!!!

  • I've got a crate quarter-stack. Non-tube. How do you think it would sound with it? Thanks.

  • depends on how you set it...

  • @brownhog72

hodie, i was wondering what your settings on your triple rec were, thanks

  • @cfhDIMEBAGcfh

    like crap

  • yeah, you're probably right.. haha. but I just got a b-52 at-100 half stack and that thing is more worthy of a pedal.

  • @cfhDIMEBAGcfh not good - crate builds shit heads/stacks/combos. save your money and get a good set up first.

  • a boss blues driver works good too

  • i have a peavey valve king and i want alot of gain if i turn on distortion and then turn on a tube screamer will i get a lot of feedback because i do not want feedback.

    good vid

  • You will if you don't tweak it properly.

  • Yeah your settings are probably "wrong."

Put the Level all the way to the max, Drive down all the way to 0, and mess around with the Tone knob.

    That should work.

  • noisegate my friend

  • @garbear2321 That's what noise gates are for.

  • @garbear2321 dude if you don't want feed get some kind of noise suppressor it cuts feedback way down

  • @smittyg117 ya i left that comment 10 months ago and i have both the tube screamer and the noise supressor

  • @garbear2321 noise suppressor.

  • You're awesome dude.

  • will the ts9 tube screamer sound the same with a distortion pedal without a tubed amp head thanks

  • No sir, it will not.

  • I just bought mine. Adds sooo much to the gain structure of my amp.

  • Hey buddy,

    I really liked your review!

Nice job. Way better than most I've seen.

    Chizzle

  • hey bro im rockin a spider 3 amp but its not a crisp heavy metal sound im lookin for i have to go to a tube amp right? i tried to metal core pedal not doin it whats a good tube amp for me around a grand or what should i do thank man for the help

  • Check out used Marshall TSL/DSLs, Mesa Nomad 100, or Peavy 6505s...

  • Hey what is the difference between Marshall TSL's and DSL's? Can't really tell.

  • one is a dual channel, the other is a triple channel.

  • Is the extra channel worth it? I have a choice of getting both used

  • Depends on the options "you" need

  • how much do those cost

  • $99.95

  • Spider lll Amps are not meant to get along with Pedals. you should have read this on the manual

Get a Peavey or a decent marshall

  • you could opt for a rack too. you could get a marshall 9200 or 9100 (dave mustaine, iron maiden, judas priest use them.) then get a good preamp like a jmp-1 or an engl whatever you like on ebay. I got a jmp-1 preamp and a 9200 for under a grand on ebay. you can hardwire it to your combo instead of getting a cab so you don't waste your spider

  • As far as pushing the distortion channel harder, how would this compare to the Boss Super Overdrive?

  • Dunno, never played a Boss OD

  • Boss overdrive/distortion pedals sound gritty, not very pleasant. If you ship them to Robert Keeley however, he'll mod them into some of the most versatile pedals around. Monte Allum does it also but he just ships parts and you mod it.

  • Have you heard about dbz guitars? Dean Zelinsky left dean to start that company. They look dope

  • yeah, they are nice

  • could u mention some Mesa/boogies in my price range? any Mesa, cuz I dunno how to find em. And also any Peavey in that range worth to check out.?

So sorry for troubling you with ALL my damn questions but I need to know some I can check out today

  • Look at the Mesa Nomad 100. Pretty good amp at a good price

  • OK, lol xD, I see, 2 bad Masa's are really expensive, so any mesa is good for the music style I mentioned?, even tho if the mesa is a 10watt amp it's still better than for example the valveking ? If you get my point:P

  • I like Mesa's...I'm not very big on other amps. My bias.

  • I got a very good instrument, it's the amp I need. I have an ESP LTD M-1000 Deluxe, I just want some reccomendations on amps in that price range that I can test out(that I should take a look at/consider), I'm going to a music store tomorrow, it's far away from my home so I want you to reccomend some that I should check out at least :P thanks..

  • By instrument I meant amp as well...it is an instrument too you know. Stick with Mesa...you can't go wrong with those...

  • I've taken a look at the Peavey valveking 112, and Peavey Bandit, and if you would reccomend the Valveking head instead of combo, what cabinet should I use which isnt overpriced:P ?

  • it reaally all depends on your taste. I would get the best instrument that you can afford.

  • I got a question I hope you can answer on:

I would really like an amplifier which can master Heavey Metal(Metallica), and smooth distortion like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Petrucci, and OK clean sound, my budget is not that good, around: 500$-650$ Please reccomend as many GOOD ones as you can, I will be forever thankful :=)

  • Look at the Carvin Legacy amps by Steve vai...in your price range and it is a great amp

  • How about a review on the MJM Phantom. I heard it's as good if not better than a tube screamer and a bag of chips

  • What guitar is that and what's and estimated price?

  • USA Dean Razorback, I paid $1700 on ebay used.

  • Damn. Nice though, thought Dean Razor's had a bad sound? (guess not)

    Like the vid BTW.

  • tell me what that pad holding all the effect pedals is called and tel me about it!!

  • It is a sliding drawer...look on musicians friend for the reversible sliding drawer...

  • great review man!

    nice tips too!

    thanks!

  • hehehehe this guy is a fucking lunatic LOL

  • 2:55 hear the difference when using it with distortion.

  • Comment removed

  • This is a great review, why are people posting bullshit?

  • People do it all the time. I ignore it for the most part. Thanks and stay tuned for more reviews.

  • dude wtf ever since i switched to tube its hard for me to pinch. i even put an sd-1 for a boost and still cant get them like i used to. any tips?

  • You need to dial in the right amount of gain, but you also need to work on your hand technique. That is the biggest part of it. Also, make sure you are using the bridge pickup. Add a little wah as well.

  • right amount of gain? im using a mesa dual rec. of course im using the bridge. im thinking about trying emgs see if it makes a difference

  • it's in your hands tghen bro...keep workin at it.

  • dude FUCK THAT haha i can pinch good

  • good for you bro...

  • Well if you pinching is anything like your grammar, I doubt it XP.

And you may be able to do a good pinch on your old gear, but with the new gear you either need to change your pinching slightly, or adjust your settings. Like Mizike said, you need the right amount of gain.

  • What are the settings on ur tube screamer? I am getting a lot of feed back on mine.

  • All knobs at 12 o clock. I also use a noise reducer right behind it to control feedback.

  • If I were you I would set the level backa bit to about 11 'o clock the gain high and tone about 12 'O Clock

  • Tight gear man, I'm probably gonna build a tube screamer copy

  • I play metal, and i have a mesa mark 4 and a boss sd overdrive, only distortion i like on mesa is on lead channel and it's awesome, but i need boost for solo, i cant hear the difference with boss sd, so i thought i could get this pedal, but will it help, and i dont really need much more distortion for boost, it just has to be louder, any1 has any suggestions pls :)

  • You can use the solo mode on your amp to get more volume...

  • I have 3 channels, 3rd has the most distortion, 1st two don't have enough for my taste, so i have 1 clean 1 distortion, and i need something for boost for solos, i cant6 hear the difference with sd boss overdrive, and i see hammett uses ts9 for boost and he has mesa amp

  • Well, try a TS9, I love mine. Also, try the T-rex MAB overdrive...it is awesome too

  • awesome review, love your style. keep it up! subSCRIZIBED lol

  • haha "an overdrive on steroids"

  • this video is good as balls

  • i prefer distortion pure from the amp

  • Good review! I've seen the tube screamer used 2 ways 1)some people just love the tone and make it a part of their "sound" ie set it and leave it on or 2)others use it to kick their amp up a little bit when it comes time for their solo- find the setting they want, turn the screamer on for solo, turn the screamer off when solo is done.

Nice demo of what it can sound like! Love that Dean.

  • man, I dont have a valve amp but I wanna know if this pedal works good without it hehe. Thanks
