  • To ANYONE that thinks Mr. Patton isn't a vocal bad ass, please youtube the "God Hates a Coward" video from Tomahawk. And then tell me who in their RIGHT MIND would have EVER came up with the idea to use a respirator for vocal effect. Yeah...the answers nobody. The man will stop at nothing to make music that much different. And for that, we true FNM fans love him!

  • @drunknmunky4614 shutup douche

  • mike patton took vocals to the next level, he sees music in a different way, no vocalist is as versatile, insane but at the same time so professional, and he doesnt get the publicity he deserves but he keeps on writing masterpieces out of pure, geniune love for music

  • The outro. Genius.

  • Hey, 1992/1993 rocks!

  • I could easily say that Angel Dust is the best album that I've personally ever heard. I can listen to everything on it without wanting to change the songs. Aside from that, his other projects are amazing, like Mr. Bungle.

  • @MySanitarium Mr. Bungle wasn't a Mike Patton project - it was his first band, and his main priority; although everything he does is his priority. But, the ONLY reason Patton joined FNM in the first place, was to promote Mr.Bungle.

  • I jizz myself everytime I hear this!

  • This is my favorite song of the album. Faith No More RULES!!

  • One word PATTON ! XO

  • Brilliant album, all songs classics!

  • Mike Patton is for alternative/heavy music, what Mikael Åkerfeldt is for Death-Metal.... One of the definitively best vocalists ever....

  • @mandrillen87 Uh, not really. I love Mikael Åkerfeldt as much as the next guy but Patton destroys Mikael. Patton's vocal range far exceeds that of Mikael or any vocalist alive and I'm sure Mikael would be the first to tell you that.

  • @CornadaTV

We obviosly both like Mikael Åkerfeldt and Patton... Let's agree they're both great... That beeing said, ididn't say that Mikael is the better vocalist, I stated that Mikael Is for Death metal what Patton is for Alternative... Saying that they are the absolutly best of their respective genres... :) I would never say that Mikael is a better overall singer.. But i think him to be the best death metal singer... PEACE :)

  • I know it's a banal thing to say but Mike Patton IS a genius.

I still struggle to believe Angel Dust came out in 1992. It's not that it's ahead of it's time, it's that no one has caught up with it yet.

I hope Mike feels that we appreciate this.

  • bordin is the shit. he can play as evocotive as patton sings. a perfect combo like elvis costello and pete thomas.

  • I think Mike Bordin play this song using single bass drum paddle.

  • @arisaffandy Yes cause he never used double pedal when he was playing for FNM..

This 4-Note figure is no problem to play with one foot (double pedal would be gay).

Mike Bordin has an excellent Single Foot Technique..

FAITH NO MORE - ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS EVER

  • I thought this song was about George Bush...

  • I HIDE MY DIRTY MINUTES UNDER MY DIRTY MATRESS AND NOW ITS MAKING ME ITCH!!!!!

  • no top comments about the fact this song is about lobbing semen? Interesting, internet, very interesting...

  • great video.

  • Type "Ranj Catch 22" if you wanna hear a cool song!

  • and he was like what,, 21 when this was recorded ? it's amazing. Opera of our time

  • it's like dirty Italian/American metal opera

  • mike patton is one hell of a hell.

  • Amazing. Mike 1991-2003 was a god vocally.

  • @creativenameisnotava Why just until 2003?

  • The 14 people who gave this song a thumbs down need to have their heads smashed repeatedly into the pavement during the playing of this brilliant , way before its time, song.

  • Joey Belladonna...hahahahaha. Thats why he started out doing Journey and Steve Perry (yes,Oh SHerry). Anthrax may have peaked when he was in the band but his voice was always the weak point...thats why they shitcanned him for John Bush.Joey never even contributed to one song...he was just a hired gun. They would have gone farther with a better lead singer in the 80's...the music was already good enough.John Connelly should have stayed.

  • @netrioter The reason Anthrax didn't go bigger than they were already, was not Joey, it was their anti-image. While Slayer and Metallica were all serious like hell, dressed in black and leather, Anthrax sang about Judge Dredd and played with shorts and hoodies, having fun onstage with songs like "I'm The Man", not taking themselves serious at all. That was a turnoff for the regular metal fans. And Joey Belladonna was fun and totally alright in this context. They actually downgraded with Bush.

  • yeah but Joey should have at least tried to contribute to the songwriting...the album they do get serious on(Persistence of Time)...Joey couldnt handle it,didnt want to be involved and wanted out.I dunno,I dig the original Joey years of course but his higher ranges kinda annoy me 25 years later...like Overkill did on their first 3-4 albums...they kicked complete ass but Bobby Ellesworth's high voice was violating.Early Rush...Geddy Lee had that shriek...like at the end of Cygnus X-1.lol

  • @netrioter I know what you mean. It's true they sound annoying now but I guess in the 80's those high pitched vocals were trendy. Actually there were two main types of vocal cliches back then in my opinion - the already mentioned high ranged type and the screaming/talking type of Motorhead/Venom/Slayer/early Metallica. That's why bands like FNM became so significant by opening the door for a variety of new sounds in heavy music :) Thrash metal was going nowhere already in the late 80's...

  • this song wakes me up in the morning. masterpiece!

  • Why are most of the pictures of Patton only?

  • @borowczyk76 Have you seen what the other guys look like? Patton is hot and one of the most musically talented individuals in the industry.

  • This song is about masturbation, just like "Epic" and "Girls of Porn".

  • I like the organ too. It reminds me of the Mr. Crowly intro. on the Ozzy song.

  • OMFG

The organ in the end. :O

  • @RaindenBird haha, you never know. Patton always had a way with words... oh yeah and the internet is porn heaven haha :L

  • THE BEST SONG FROM ANGEL DUST!

  • the most evil song ever

  • @RaindenBird Could be. I always that it was more metaphorical, and deep. I always interpreted it to mean something like "i do dirty, immoral things and they are haunting me". But i definitely see where you're coming from.

  • 2:58 om nom nom

  • one word ... amazing

  • one of the best Faith no More songs!

  • In terms of the way the video was edited: The lyrics should be listed sooner and using a different kind of animation than this one.

  • Não há nada melhor que Patton,só ele mesmo pode competir com ele.

  • @silviaparreira QUEM SABE UM DIA FARÃO UM CLONE DELE!

    SERIA MUITO BOM.

  • There is NO BETTER VOCALIST THAN MICHAEL ALLAN PATTON! I have spoken, and that is the end of this discussion! Good day :)

  • @drunknmunky4614 i'd add to this list: andy deris of helloween and layne staley of alice in chains

  • @darius9000 Agreed

  • fuk yes

  • fuck

  • This sounds like a final boss song, and the song after that, Midnight Cowboy, is the peaceful end credits.

  • darkest faith no more tune? probably.

  • this song words and everything just right

  • Id like to thank "thelovebite1" for referring "Russian Circles" in his post. I listened to a few of their pieces and they are really Fing good. Thanks mucho!

  • Angel dust was the best fucking heavy metal album in the whole rock and roll heavy metal world. The best songs are on this album. I dont know why FNM didnt become more popular than they did. They had so many amazing songs and each album and each song was so different. from the last. Maybe that was their problem, they had too much diversity. I give them the unofficial grammy award for most origional band that ever existed. I wish they did more in their carreers.. shrugs

  • @dragontooth81 - They were never really properly recognised as they were so far ahead of the musical curve, Mike Patton is a musical visionary :D. All their songs stand up today against current music and if if most of was released for the first time Today it would be a big seller no doubt ;)

  • @dragontooth81 YES.

  • It is okay to not be ready for Angel Dust when you first hear it. Nobody is.

  • I must say, I was skeptical when I saw the word "Jizz". I was looking for something like Heron Blue, but this is good.

  • Love this song.

  • im glad they didnt come out any later, if they came today they woulda been polluted by today's "metal", jizzlobber woulda been a 3minute pile of whiney bullshit. they may have been ahead of their time but that's what made them so fucking amazing

  • good, clean edit. straight pics. well done

  • I do have to say Angel Dust was an acquired taste. "The Real Thing" was my introduction to them, so this was obviously a WTF?????? shock. The more I heard it, however, the more I loved it. Definitely the transition album to Patton's style, and prolly FNM's best album.

  • The anchor to the bridge is my fave..."cruel words sleep above me, mounting and teasing" crazy ass chord changing, almost haunting, but it's awesome.

  • One of the only bands to truly be ahead of their time.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the repentance sound the end. Angels to Dust .

    I'm sorry

  • god i love this fucking band!

  • One of the best bands EVER!!

    \,,/

    Geniality

  • i hide my dirty minutes, under my dirty mattress. and they are making me itch!

    i love this band

  • I think they sampled "For Whom The Bell Tolls" at 5:32. It's kinda tough to hear because its at a way lower volume than the keyboard part, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I tried a google search to confirm it, but I couldn't find anything that would suffice. It makes sense though because they used a shitload of samples on Angel Dust. What do you guys think?

  • @jakeniklas

Hmm its fairly quiet so its hard to tell really but I think it is just an earlier part of the song played again, if you listen from about 10 secs earlier you can hear that part of the song fading out and that drumming sounds like the same drumming from around 3:24, plus if they used a metallica sample it would probably be on wikipedia or something. Anyway I hope that helped, I know it wasn't exactly the clearest explanation but oh well :)

  • @jakeniklas

I'd never have picked it out myself but the drum beat is v similar if not identical; however, I'd say it's their own drumming, not a sample. I checked the CD inlay, and there's no credits to anyone else (except Midnight Cowboy obv.) Still, you have now decided my next video - thanks!

In return I offer you Russian Circles, whose Geneva album reminded me of both FNM and Metallica, so you may find something there to enjoy (if you ha'n't already).

  • 2:55 patton looks freakin' insane

  • this song is like "art-damaged death metal", and the next song on the record is Midnight Cowboy, fuck, how can they do it? it's like watching The Exorcist or The Blair Witch Project and then Titanic or something... the same goes for KFAD and AOTY

  • this is what we call a masterpiece.

  • Something I never notice others bringing up that I've always noticed. There are the screaming bands that all sound the same. Then there is Faith No More. Even though Mike Patton screams , he's got depth and other vocal talents elsewhere. He doesn't only know how to scream, the dude has some awesome vocal abilities as well and can go from singing a pop sounding song right into a thrash metal song. And inside of his screams is still a good vocal tone unlike other screaming thrash metal bands.

  • @hootyhaha you´re right man!

  • @hootyhaha i feel ya, man. patton knows what lines should be screamed and which are to be sung, most bands these days scream every lyric and there's no change or variety in the music. that's what makes FNM so special

  • He also knows how to piss off the guitarist that got him in the band to begin with

    @hootyhaha

  • @bloopthis According to every other band member it was Martin who had the problems.

  • @hootyhaha Well said

  • @hootyhaha

In terms of general vocal ability, thrash is trash =\

  • @hootyhaha "Suprise! Your Dead!" is thrash metal, this is more death metal influenced. Also, if you want a real singer in a thrash band, two words: Joey Belladonna. Now there's a real singer in a thrash band. And I agree with what you say about Patton, just listening to him in this song is like he is putting his soul into his death growls, which is rare. But, for the most part, he screams in all different kind of ways; high-pitched screams, death grunts, raspy and mostly death growls.

  • @BickleBungle1991 He death growls rarely. His high-pitched is more common.

  • Comment removed

  • @BickleBungle1991 I meant in studio.

  • @Tributes2Point1 Well, yeah, I guess. But, he has occasionally. Like I said, Mr Bungle's first recording is strictly death metal. In Bungle's Disco Volante they go back to their death metal roots with Patton growling in the last song. He has in some albums, but his high pitched screams are definitely his main vocals screams other than singing.

  • @BickleBungle1991 Yea, I've got all of the Bungle albums. He does Death Growl in "Merry Go Bye-Bye".

  • @hootyhaha Mike's not the only guy with his own unique screaming style, you know. Even though he's brilliant, I won't deny.

  • @MrVesanique He's got a pretty unique voice that stands out from the rest. Other guys with unique styles can be compared to others. Not Patton.

  • @hootyhaha I don't know, man. I don't see who you could compare Chino Moreno to, for example. Guy used to be a badass unique singer.

  • @MrVesanique I'm actually really bad with names of lead singers. I generally just listen to bands CDs or MP3s. I'll look up that name. Thanks.

  • @hootyhaha Deftones singer, if that helps.

  • @MrVesanique I don't know, i see a pretty direct comparison to Johnathan Davis possible with Chino. At least, if you're talking about when they were both excellent vocalists. (Where as Patton is as great as ever, still...) As a huge fan of all three, I feel that the others just can't compare to Mike's range, though great they may be. (Or were, maybe.)

  • @leadbones Nah man. Don't want to be offensive or whatever, but that's wrong. Chino did sound a bit like Jonathan on Deftones' first record, " Adrenaline ", but even in that record there was a more melodic direction than Davis' (" Fist ", " Fireal ", etc.).

You should check out the albums " White Pony " and " Deftones " (for example), you'd hear his screaming style is pretty unique, and his structures and melodies as well.

  • @MrVesanique yah, the first deftones record, i.e. when they were good. you don't have to tell me man, i have those albums, each more disappointing than the last. I'm not saying chino isn't a good vocalist, he just sounded best on the first album. and also happened to have a very similar style to john on that one. i mean, point taken, but still chino is 1/5000th the singer that patton is. (in my opinion.)

  • @leadbones I just think that's wrong man, but oh well, to each their own.

  • amazing vid, thanks for all the fears.

  • I disagree about the "influenced sooo many". There a far too many who have never heard about Mike Patton. The Melvins have influenced more. Meshuggah has influenced more. Pink floyd... has influenced more.

Patton, he just likes to make music (it's good stuff)

  • @burgermikestir what a retarded staement, who cares

  • The older Patton gets the better looking he gets

  • Mr. Bungle rocks. That is all

  • What's the point of saying "this is one of the most influential bands"? I can only speak of what has personally influenced me. I can't speak for the rest of you, & you sure as hell can't speak for me. Faith no more has been one of the greats in my mind. I find the bands that followed are chintzy & cheap.

  • @937emotion Hey Pink Floyd ain't bad

  • I hide the dirty minutes under MY dirty mattress...no offesne, but when one adds lyrics to the video, helps if they are correct.

  • The original alternative metallers that started it. This was great back in the day, now you can appreciate how influential they are on modern metal.

  • the real thing and angledust; two of the best albums ever!!!!!!

  • I am what I've done....I'm sorry

  • patton and crew... fully underrated. done soooo much, with so little credit.

  • you r great xxx

  • I'm ready to make love to concrete.

  • @xXNuclearWarXx i hope so xxx wolverine xx

  • all scremo fans should watch this

  • love u guys .............

  • Angel Dust was their best album, and one of the best in the 90's. i like all the songs in that album.

  • The first and one of the best live shows I've ever seen....FNM with Helmet in '93. Patton climbed up the wall of theater and fell the fuck down during this song....cracked his head open and finished the show bleeding everywhere. It was great

  • Mike Patton is a god

  • Holy fuck i never knew he was actually saying something at 1:41

  • JIZZLOBBER is a pump for penis...

  • hottest voice ever!

  • Thanks FNM for the best heavy song in rock history.

  • along with "just a man" this is my favorite FNM song

    such a vocal genius

  • just the song of my teen ages

  • if youre a fan of music at all you *should* own Angel Dust. period.

  • @locustkllr

hell yeah man their greatest album ever man

  • @locustkllr why? because a random user on youtube says so?

  • @Hamgammy No. Because it's a masterpiece of an album that is timeless and nearly undefinable as a type- just good music. Here are 5 talented musicians pushing the boundaries of what can be done with their respective instruments and ending up with a product greater than the sum of its parts.

  • @locustkllr and King for a Day!

  • awesome!!!! Arrrrrgh! ;) :D

  • This song makes me really happy. Always puts me in a great mood. Hmmm....

  • Fave band from my teenage angst years, still listen to it on a weekly basis, love the instrumental break down at around the 3 min mark. Turn it up

  • Jim Martin''s guitar heaviness is well represented in this track.

  • What can one say that song is bad ass. To the Bone.

  • FNM invented chords that other bands are still exploring today... and Patton has a gift for finding the perfect discordant note that strikes diagonally across the chord, morphing it into something else completely... These guys are musical pioneers, who pushed the envelope of artistically-acceptable chord structures far into the atonal. The list of bands who owe them a debt of gratitude is very long indeed.

  • @3stringovation Voivod had some very unpredictable chord changes as well, but they weren't nearly as mainstream as FNM.

  • This has to be the best song on Angel dust (considering how good the whole CD is, that's saying something). This song is heavy, creepy (that haunting piano), and gothic (that church style organ at the end) all at the same time. Mike patton's vocal delivery complimented the song perfectly.

  • Everything in this song from "I am what I do" onwards sounds like a terrible, terrible hangover.

Not to say that that's a bad thing!

  • mike patton is jesus...his band is the diciples....fuck off and die everyone else

  • I'm usually not a fan of really heavy metal but this song... blows me away

  • what means Jizzlobber?

  • @Caravagio1974 Jizz=semen, lobber=lover

  • @Tsuta

Jizz=semen lobber = throw like a baseball is "lobbed"

or Silence of the lambs where the guy "lobes" his "jizz" at the chick

  • @Caravagio1974

    Jizz = slang for semen.

Lob is a verb meaning, thank you dictionary()com, to throw (something) slowly in an arc.

Therefore, a jizzlobber would be one who throws semen in a slow arc.

  • @DarkDoorFilms thank you for the in depth exposition lmao!!!!!

  • if mike patton cant do it, it cant be done XD

  • 1:43 -I hide my dirty picture under my dirty matress and makin' me itch......

    soreporn rule!!!!

  • Fucking great guitar tone.

  • 2:27= curb stompin boots!

  • Oh yes he was then, is now, and always will be the MAN

  • None of the new metal bands will ever match up to FNM. FNM could make a sweet soul song for a second, then the next they are tearing it up death metal style!

  • @Nosleeptillrock87 fishbone had that pretty covered at the time too, why didn't any of the new metal bands learn it how to do properly?

  • @Nosleeptillrock87

Coheed and Cambria, in my opinion are in the same boat as FnM, alot of Genre-hopping and vocal flipping! but i do know what you mean.

  • WOW! ;B

  • alxderock Amazing!!!!

  • Amazing yet scary song. Great arrangments and those organs in the end.

  • The darkest, moodiest, heaviest song ever. No contest. Screw all new heavy metal acts, even stuff like Slipknot, Lamb of God, etc. those bands owe a great great debt to Faith No More, even though they sound absolutely nothing like them. the best track off Angel Dust.

  • @leep123321 Especially the creepy piano and organ sounds they had.
