The Garden is a classic album. It remains one of the greatest albums of my life, all these years after I first bought it.

Foxx's masterpiece The Garden and The Lord of the Rings, nice meeting. John's sound starts from Romantic and Ossian suggestions: melancholy, pesimism, funeral. Here magic is added. The Lord of the Rings is very optimistic but The Garden as soundtrack is suitable.

I can remember reading an article in a magazine around '81. A member of Ultravox (can't recall who) claimed that John's voice was failing by the time Systems of Romance came along, and this was a bone of contention w/ some of the others. Sorry, just can't buy it! Yes, John often delivered a cold, unconventional vocal approach, and the bottom line is, he was not COMERCIALLY MARKETABLE (Midge WAS), thus John's departure. But he proves here that his vocal talent goes beyond all expectations.

John Foxx! One of my favs no doubt! I also have this song on vinyl and it has been a great time for listening of the great pieces of music like this one which is one of my favs ever and one of the greatest ever in last 30 years if you ask me
