  • WTF does the video here have to do with the music....

  • Благодарю Вас за комментарий!

мне эта загрузка стоила колоссальных усилий...

  • Magnificent ! Thank you very much for uploading!

  • Круто ! Караян есть Караян !

  • @PogNikita

    а Аббадо есть Аббадо...

  • Meister Leister!

  • you both are right. don't rage to prove it.

  • romkidd By whose measurement or what criterior do you state that the Berlin P.O. is the best orchestra in the world? I have heard this said before. and when I compare recordings with some of the London orchestras it makes my blood boil!! Just listen to the planets under Karajan with the BPO and then compare the same piece with the Royal PO under Sir Charles Groves. Both accoustics, sound quality and dynamics are in a different league to the German effort. Best orchestra Never!!

  • It starts a 2:36 incase anyone wanted to skip the intro

  • Absolutely wonderful!!!!

  • @ca7lendula Does the Berliner Philharmoniker has more instrumentalists than the other great S.O. of the world? It sounds so powerful! I have the DVD of D. Carlo, 1986, Salzburg, Karajan, and the instrumental sweeps are incredible! Thx for this beautiful uploading! BRs - Luiz

  • @lamsalgado If your looking for power, try the London Philharmonic under Sir Adrian Boult. Compare karajans Greig piano concerto with the BPO compared to Boults with the LPO. I,m afraid the German orchestra is left very much in the shade when it comes to power.

  • We're celebrating Strauss' musical genius once more in this magnifcent Don Juan.

  • Claudio Abbado (Italy) conducts the world's best orchestra (Germany), lead by Concertmaster Toru Yasunaga (Japan). That reminds me of those old days when we formed a tripartite alliance. We were all defeated by the Allies, but now we all prosper. God bless our nations!

  • You are absolutely right-it is a worldwide celebration of music and unity of mankind!

  • @romkidd Oh my - I never thought of that before! Perceptive insight!

  • you talk about wars as if you talk about games or sports. i want your countries to be prosper but these musicians have nothing to do with nationalism.

  • @romkidd very true though I must admit I much prefer this most recent and musical form of the allience :)

  • I was in this concert. We waited 6 hours on Silvester 1992 with -15°C to come in to the standing places. It was one of his best concert in Berlin (together with Mussorgsky-Programm): with an unbelievable Till Eulenspiegel, Rosenkavalier Terzetto with Fleming and Argerich and Strauss Burleske for piano and orch. I missed the TV broadcasting so thank you so much for posting it!

  • badass. One of my professors in undergrad played me a tape of a radio broadcast of this program with Till etc.. one of the first times I heard the pieces and fell in love. Doesn't hurt that I am a horn player :)

  • @latraviata69 U r probably a great fan of classics to wait for 6 hours outside at the cold. IMO no man worth waiting for so long. // I've seen Abbado live in Spb, Russia with gmjo - it was brilliant, but I would never torture myself with waitin' like this just to attend his concert.

  • @TheCarnivorousWay orchestral pieces live are totally different than recording. And playing is totally different from listening.

  • @BoeingB17FF Yes, playin' music always differs to listenin' to it ;)

  • Rainer Seegers rules !

  • I could not agree more!!! He's the best!!!
