beautiful imagery my friend. Question about your XL1. It cannot shoot HD, I am aware of that. At full res is the image quality good? One thing I really hate is the squashed images if you shoot 16:9. If you buy a monitor, does it display in true widescreen?
The quality is really good at full res. You might be able to see if you check out some of my "HD" videos on YouTube. It depends on the lighting, though... it doesn't look great if the shutter is below 150/sec.
Yeah, it plays in true widescreen. It's not just superimposed bars, it's a stretch.
im thinking of getting HV20/30 or XL1s , which should you recommend? ive read thousands of lines of HV20/30 vs XL1s or some other... and i still cant decide!
and you just need the 72mm close up filter and you put it on top of the original lens? and thats it?
It really depends if you want control to learn how to use more pro tools (the XL series) or if you want digital HD. It depends how intense you want to get with cinematography. I've seen great stuff from both.
If you can afford it, I'd say get the XLH1.
Yeah, the filters just screw onto the front of the lens. They are really cheap (they're just like reading glasses, minus the frame and all that).
I should have a comparison of macro lenses vs non-macro on DeviantArt soon.
those 72mm+10 macro closeup filters on ebay are like 5-15dollars lol, am i watching the right thing? and does the 72mm go on the HV30 aswell?
Ofcourse i would buy XLH1 if i could afford it haha :) but im a poor student who lives alone and has to work at the same time and go to school :)
Im just pursuing my dream of becoming a video artist and making short films. So this will be my first camera ever. I havent used any.. well i have but not my own. lol
Yeah, I got 3 macro filters (+1, +4, +10) in a leather case brand new for like $40 including postage.
I don't know about the HV30. If it has lens threads, then yes, but it is unlikely that it would be a 72mm thread (because I'm pretty sure the HV series are smaller). Do a Google search.
It can do anamorphic. It's not really noticeably different, its just not as good quality. I kind of like widescreen on the XL1. It changes the style a lot, but its cool.
It's a little unclear. But I think it is something with that you are trapped in a dark bad place and slowly going insane. And as time goes you start dreaming of a nice happy place, or having a flashback of something good. Maybe your niece has been kidnapped and that's why you are in that dark bad place. And then the flashback is a memory of her. Something like that (if that is what you meant by the symbolism, I realize I might be talking about something completely different)
Ah cool. I'm thinking of starting to make videos again seeing as I have a HD camera now. It's jsut that it records in a format called "AVCHD" and it's rare so nearly no programs or even YouTube recognizes it. Therefore I have to convert it and it fucks up the quality. But I'll figure it out sooner or later :)
everybodys looked at peoples faces close up. this is a little stupid

goodness..how did you it to upload in HD like this?

It's just the export settings. I exported it through Adobe Media Encoder within Premiere Pro as a H.264 file.

i read something that with the twoneil adapter i can use as the achromat this : Opteka 10x 58mm HD² Professional Macro Lens but its with the adapter ,
so without the adapter its : 43-55mm step-up ring --> 55mm Opteka HD 10x --> 55mm Rotateable CPL filter -->55-60mm step up ring
Does this sound like its logical?
janar17 2 years ago
That's just rediculous. I'll search for you.
It's got 43mm threads, so you can get a 43mm macro filter.
Most cameras (digital photography) have a 55mm thread, so you can get a step-up from 43mm-55mm, which will allow you to use a 55mm lens.

Yes thats right! :)
ive been searching more.. and i get it now.
thanks alot for your time :)

can't you switch the aspect ratio on the XL1?
newacepro 2 years ago
Yeah, you can (menu>16:9>on). It's not "true widescreen", though. So you're probably losing some pixels, but it still looks fine.

What a crap. I was almosty fall asleep on 10 seconds.

Well of course you are going to find it boring if you don't understand the complexity.
rhysie21 2 years ago
ooooo, isn't that the theme from some horror movie? Something with a number or something.
darthguy3 2 years ago
It says in the description -- Silent Hill Game and 28 Days Later.
rhysie21 2 years ago
Yeah, but what's the fun of having it told to you when you can try to figure it out yourself?
darthguy3 2 years ago
Hahaha... right.
Did you understand the symbolism in the film? It hasn't yet been revealed.

darthguy3 2 years ago
Yeah, you're pretty much spot on (but its open for interpretation, so it could mean more then just that).
I didn't really intend for it to be symbolic or anything, but about 3/4 of the way in I was like "I could totally do that", and so I did.

I think you can use that with Premiere or Final Cut.
rhysie21 2 years ago
I've tried premiere but it declined it. And final cut I don't have. But I'll figure it out. There's no stopping me :P
