  • the strongest part of the film.

  • This is seriously one of my favorite bits of animation. The animator for Ariel did a fantastic job subtly letting us see her think (especially at 1:11 when she turns around and taps her wrist... I -love- that!)

  • I know this may sound corny but, This is such a beautiful scene. Unlike This Disney version the original & real story of The little mermaid first written & created my Hans. Christain Andersen is MUCH more sadder than you can even imagine. The real mermaid never got her prince in the end of the original story. Yup. She dies, turning into seafoam & becoming a eathbound angel When her prince marry's another woman of royal blood. Cuz technically the mermaid is only a princess of the sea. Not on land

  • Hi, ¿how did you get this instrumental version? ¿is there an instrumental soundtrack of little mermaid? THansk for uploading the video =D

  • Ohhhh my heart! The Little Mermaid is my favorite animated Disney movie. I was just a tot when I first saw it in the theater, back when my feet just dangled off the chair, but man oh man did it make a lasting impact on me. You could watch the whole movie like this, without dialogue, and the score would still tell the story beautifully. Alan Menken is a musical mastermind who can just reach in and tug at your heart and unhinge your imagination with his melodies.

  • Any way to get this as an MP3? We want to use it in a wedding next weekend. THX!

  • @Danb1123 Who's heart you trying to break? XD I kid, I kid.

Anyways; Itunes sells this song with the rest of the Little Mermaid soundtrack, just buy it individually.

  • This breaks my heart! Now I'm crying :( I know how she feels!

  • aww..feeling ariels pain..I think that we all have felt like this in our lives..and it doesn't have to be marriage :'( ...always loved this scene :] <3

  • Does this song have a name?

  • i agree

  • Absolutely makes me cry...reminds me when i found out my love had gotten married...=*[...felt just like her...

  • This scene absolutely breaks my heart T-T

  • is there maybe a dowload link?

  • i love you so much i just omg chilss

  • I love this track :D

  • Just realized they took this score and created the song : beyond my wildest dreams for broadway :D

  • at 1:35 - 2:00 really made me cry.! the music was great that time! T_T..poor Ariel.. wish i could help! lol.. hahaha...

  • Ariel gets married at age 16?!? WTF... It would be illegal nowadays...

  • Whats the song from one of the little mermaids called.. umm. the one were arial daughter borns or somithing... like at the begening of one of there movies..

  • @hellopinkzebra28 down to the sea

  • 1:19 - 1:27 is my favorite part, haha. You can really feel the tension building there.

  • Poor Ariel

  • That piece of violin music when Ariel cries (at 1:45) is so touching... T_T

  • :'(

  • 2D animation is the best! There is something on 2d animation that you will never ever find with 3D films nowadays. I hope, I really really hope Disney will never turn its back on making 2D films when "TANGLED" gets succesful.

If little mermaid is not yet done in 1989, and they're planning on making it 2010... I WOULD PREFER IT 2D... eventhough 3D films is dominate nowadays.

  • @carloenavarro I am very excited about this Disney's project (The Snow Queen is scheduled to be released in 2013). Because it has some people that worked in other great Disney animations

Written by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King)

Produced by Don Hahn (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King)

Score by Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin)

Btw, The Snow Queen is a fairytale created by the danish Hans Christian Andersen, also the creator of The Little Mermaid!

  • @oopaulorafael I am very excited too on Snow Queen. BUT I became sad whe I found out recently that the project had been shelved again....hmm. My excitement returned when I saw it on the list of the upcoming Disney animated films page on "Wikipedia" ( but no citation, so most likely its not real) .And as of today, its gone of the list.

As far as I know, it was shleved due to story problems. Don't worry, maybe 1 day they will open the project again... like what happened to Beauty and the Beast.

  • @carloenavarro I went to Wikipedia right now at 19:45 GMT and changed from ''Postponed'' to ''2013''.

Btw, you are right indeed, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast were shelved at the 40s. So glad they returned in the Perfect time, the Renaissance Era.

  • @oopaulorafael I remember watching that cartoon (I forget who did it) but Disney might play it off a bit better if they do it

  • @Shadow554 Indeed mate! Beauty and the Beast is a great example of how wonderfully Disney make some changes to the original tale's plot.

About The S. Queen, another thing that excites me is Director: Kevin Lima (Tarzan).

The S. Queen is about the struggle between good and evil as experienced by a little boy and girl named Kay and Gerda.

By the way, the title character is the main antagonist, who kidnaps the boy Kay. Gerda goes for his rescue.

Fortunately, it is planned to be 2D animated!

  • @oopaulorafael Well I know the story....like i said I've seen it. But I'm glad there's a good director that's going to do that. We all know of the bad ones. :) And it better be in 2d cause I'm already tired of this stupid 3d phenomenon.

  • @Shadow554 Indeed!

I think that 3D animation (like the Stampede scene in L. King, Deep Canvas in Tarzan, ballroom dance scene in B. a. t. Beast etc.) and computer effects (like The Transformation scene in B. a. t. Beast) should only help 2D animation.

There are many facial expressions, comedy and drama situations that are only possible in 2D anim.

Btw, the idea of computer-made 2D (or digitally drawn) animation excites me because it makes the work of creating 2D anim. a lot easier.

  • Nice vid. I like Ariel's hair at the moment she starts running away, cuz it kind of made a nice wave ^^

  • Its so easy to tell that she isn't heartbroken about being Ursula's polyp slave for life... she's heartbroken because she thinks Eric loves someone else--someone actually prettier than her, lol.

  • I wish i could run down the stairs that fast!

  • she's so cute, isn't she? x3

  • augh I always get choked up here

  • @Bookworm579 Seriously, me too. Imagine she thinks he's with some other girl and that means she's doomed to go back to Ursula! at least we know how it ends!

  • i love it

  • 1:21, Ursula's getting a kick out of that, I'll bet. She did call him a "catch." I can only imagine what's going on in her head, lol.

  • this bit still breaks my heart, even now lol

  • 1:43 a 2:15 esta parte de la pelicula me hace llorar

  • @TheVideoEdgar Je vous remercie, vous aime de belles personnes!

  • It was okay. But one small part didn't make it in.

  • too bad they don't make cartoons anymore

  • Did anyone else notice that this movie has like 3 songs and the rest are just reprises. The one that Ariel sings on the Beach is just a reprise of Part Of Your World and when Vanessa sing it's a reprise of Poor Unfortunate souls. And in this video when Vanessa grabs that little gold thing you can hear Poor Unfortunate Souls!_!

  • poor ariel :'(

  • thiz is so cute

  • 2:03 <3

  • thanks i search this for so long

  • The tune with Scuttle and Ariel waking up are included in the Broadway song "Beyond My Wildest Dreams"!!! I love the sadness whenever it shows Ariel.

  • 01:23 - sinister chuckle

  • good job

  • It is so sad and so beautiful

  • Beautiful :)

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been searching for this part for so long! I <3 it!

  • very nice!
