  • David was probably one of the most skilled human to have ever lived, were sitting here talking about him thousands of years later.

  • I thought david killed him with his own sword ?

  • @MrScottev he did

  • love the video man

  • Why do they make such a big deal out of it just being a 'stone'? you could kill a tyranasaurs rex with a sling if you hit it in the head.

  • @hempartist420 comon, just like everyone else, even if you saw proof you would still doubt wouldn't you?

  • He's speaking in Spanish

  • those that the history channel interviews when the subject is religion, make me laugh. SHALLOW

  • Very good! You can get this kind of slingshot here: JOCATAPULT.DE

  • Great slinging! On jocatapult.de you can find slingshots from this typ!

  • 2:52 It's a sling, not a sling shot.

  • this shows you how sloppy the history channel is. #1 David only knocked Goliath out with the sling he then killed him with Goliaths own sword. 1 Samuel 17:51. and #2 it was through God David accomplished this feat. but still the sling was bad ass :)

  • David had spend his life killing bears and wolfs as a shepherd with this instrument, so says the Bible, so he definatley had the skill do do this no luck involved.

  • @cheesypasta I know right? The way they talk, if the foremost sling expert of our time can't be that accurate, surly David's shot was a lucky one! Which is tripe. Our expert doesn't have to survive by the skill of his sling. If you have to use this thing to keep from being mauled by wild animals and to catch your dinner, you are going to be way more skilled than a modern person who doesn't depend on it for survival. We are arrogant thinking we know so much more than ancients.

  • @felicianomiko Haha, yeah its like "Here we have the one guy on earth who uses this thing part time while working/studying. Yeah David couldn't have been much better than him!"

  • I am a slinger from Ontario. I built mine with 35 cents worth of twine. I've built my slings with a variety of objects. Hemp or sisal is the very good natural fibre.

I have to comment that his form is perfect. That shot is ridiculously difficult. I can't hit a soda can from 22 feet. We should note that a 9 foot tall man would have a very large forehead.

Bible aside, the roman doctor Celcius wrote a chapter on how to take sling bullets out of the flesh.

  • How could any science be lost if it had been written in the Bible? Is God incompetent?

  • Luis is The Man!

    What a graceful death blow!

    Like poetry in motion!

David was the same and had Gods help in hitting just the right spot... and SPLAT!

  • " David and Goliath " is a true story because the "Bible tells me so"..now I know to non "Christians" that sounds 'funny" but its not "the Bible is a Great Book that I try to follow " Everyday " there is not a " Good Book Like It...if you don't believe these bible story's then you probably " Don't Believe In "God"...."Jesus Christ " he came for you and me " Amen"

  • Job 26:7

    He stretches out the north over empty space;

He hangs the earth on nothing.

  • @havefaith445 You call this science ??????????? What about the scientific remedy in the bible for cleansing a person from Leprosy ? Leviticus 14(sprinkle dead bird's blood on you 7 times).

  • Really?! This is the thing you question scientificly in the bible? Not the ark? Not raising from the dead all the Jews surrounding Jerusalem? Really?!

  • I guess since this is all bible stuff, lets just say god helped him. :)

  • also for proof of giants look at the bones there digging up in india

  • there is plenty of proof of a race of giants just look it up start with the mound builders of ohio

  • I wounder if they export slings? That would be a souvenir I wouldn't mine laying down some money for.

  • yet another example of glorious Hemp or marihuana put to a good use , im sure they all got high and dance after goliath's death.

  • I believe David didn´t kill Goliath with his sling he just stunned him and then lobbed of his head with the giant´s own sword

  • slinging.org

  • Fonermenorqui...Would it be possible to buy a traditional sling like the one you use in this video? I am a slinger myself (not a very good one)....but I would be very proud to own onje of your beautiful Balaeric slings...Please let me know what you can do.......My name is John and I am from Massachusetts, USA

  • Adrenaline won a fight between a little dude and a big dude, a feather became a chicken, and slingshots are indeed cool :)

  • @GronTheMighty 'Sling' is what they are called, friend.

  • @killu19 Aye, but when you use it to throw a stone, that is a slingshot ;))

  • @GronTheMighty Hehe, indeed. But the differences between a sling and slingshot are significant. The slingshot uses rubber straps that hurls a tiny projectile, while a sling uses centrifugal force to hurl bigger stones with deadlier force.

  • Goliath _WAS NOT_ killed with a sling. He was simply knocked out. Then David took Goliath's sword and beheaded him with it. This is a common misconception that can easily be cured by reading the story from the biblical source. Goliath's sword and armor later became trophies that were kept by priests along with other relics that reminded the Israelites of Gods benevolence.

  • @AlienZygote010 im going to agree with you. I have a friend from Tribal South America who was hit by a sling and he was knocked out. The worst that can happen is a major concussion or a depressed skull fracture, but Goliath was wearing a helmet which would have shielded him from both.

  • @AlienZygote010 the stone sunk in his forehead actually, but yes it was the severing of the head that ended it. Also Goliath was not the leader of the army. He was just their champion

  • @twfljeb - Champion warfare was very common amongst all peoples back then, and as late as the middle Iron Age for the Celts. I don't think I stated that Golyat was their leader. He was not.

  • @AlienZygote010 i didnt say you said that. Thats what the video said

  • Comment removed

  • i wish i had a sling like that

  • @lpcenter52 - there is a video on yt that shows you how to make one

  • It's simple to make a sling out of nothing but 10 feet of cordage. I make them all the time and they are pretty good.

  • Is an amazing documentary and independent of the biblical beliefs of each individual, we must not forget that behind the story and part of unreality that comes with the passage of time there is always a real part. Is shown as a person can actually die from the momentum of a stone. Is also true that it depends on who cast the stone. A very interesting story. My congratulations.

  • The reason why sling-shots were outdated at some point is because you could not create a large group of slingers. Propelling the missiles takes too much space. This is why archery was always the more efficient tactic.

  • Buen vídeo !!! Saludos desde Alcoy (Alicante) yo también tiro con honda.

  • If David had been practising kill shots on wolfs and bears.. it would have honed his skill into power and accuracy.. practice on a head sized target.. to get good..

  • @redrik09 - i couldn't agree more. as an outdoorsman, i know that even with a firearm you get one - just one - chance to take out a wild predator. the survival of his family and anyone his father served depended on his skill with that sling. i am sure that the talents of such people in antiquity goes well beyond that of mere hobbyists today.

  • 0:53 smote I like that word...

  • I wanna try to hunt with the sling

  • lol one of the very few things the bible was right about

  • these are so fun and easy to make, soo powerful too; in combat they can completely be lodged in an enemies' body romans even had a surgical tool to remove projectiles from wounds, might even have more energy than some firearms cartridges like the old .44-40 of the american west.

  • Does anyone know what kind of braid he used to make the sling? You can see the close-up at the 6:43 mark.

  • @Silverinator check out my channel.. ancient hunting weapons.. there is a guy making a braided sling..

  • Yet we haven't found any giant remaines, fossils or skeletons...

    Weird

  • @TheEVILutionist yes they have.

  • @XGailoftheblackArtX No we haven't... It's called photoshop buddy! Worth 1000 is the site most of those images were posted. Point me to a peer reviewed paper!?

  • @XGailoftheblackArtX No we haven't... It's called photoshop buddy! Worth 1000 is the site most of those images were posted. Point me to a peer reviewed paper!? I dare ya

  • @TheEVILutionist No no I'm talking about people like Ella Ewing or Anna Swan, they were giants.

  • @XGailoftheblackArtX You seem to be mistaking hormone issues with a race of giants... They are not the same thng what so ever. Random hormonal growth doesn't constitute a race...It is biblical allegory for the religious triumphing over impossible odds with gods help. It is nonsense with NO evdience. Tripe of the highest degree

  • This is one of the best slinging films on the net.

  • It seems likely that the philistines came the agean area. Some have suggested create, others troy or the mycenaeans (greek). It would make sense as these nations did have champions as seen in the illaid with hector and achilles. Also there was a major upheaval around 1100 bc and all these nations around the agean suffered and scattered. Which would fit in nicely as historians estimate sauls reign at 1020 bc.Which would tie in nicely with this notion.

  • I always knew goliath was greek. I mean ive heard very credible stories about this. Other stories about the sea fearing people, stating goliath came from sicily is not very credible. In this periode the pelasgians flew from the northern tribes that again merged into greece, pushing the older ones literally into the sea.

Btw... I find it quite ironic, that the weapon of the jewish king of old times, is now the weapon the from the west supported israelis face on poor palestinian children.

  • Amazing. Thanks for posting.

  • Don't you think that God helped him with accuracy...the Bible says that David was 'truly blessed'.

  • david didn't kill goliath with the sling, he merely knocked goliath out then proceeded to take goliath's sword and stab him with it. He then cut off goliath's head and brought it back to jerusalem.

  • Excellent.! David at that time probably had far more opportunities to use his sling than a modern man. Goliath probably did have the pituitary gland disorder of Gigantism. Perchance it was one of those 'lucky hits' I just love investigative science!

  • People with gigantism have serious health issues. The larger ones can't even walk right and usually die in their 30's. A giant wouldn't be a good warrior.

  • Yes you are right gigantism does create health issues. It can gave a human limited vision causing eventualy blindness. But a giant warror would have a massive psychological impact on the oppossing army.

  • How is this "lost science of the Bible"? The art of slinging has never been lost, nor is it "Biblical science".

  • i think that there is ONE thing that they didnt quite take into account.. the fact that goliath, in proportion to his larger size, would in theory have had slightly thicker skullbones, how much this is over what they suggested was the necessary lethal force, im not sure.

  • Perhaps, I have thought of that too. But anyway, I don't think a thicker skull would make much of a difference if you take a sling shot in the face.

  • The Bible says the earth seats upon pillars.

    And that it is flat.

And that the sun orbits the earth.

    And that bats are birds.

And that insects have 4 legs.

And that humans are made of dirt.

And that man was made before plants and animals,

while woman was made AFTER the animals.

It just goes on and on.

    A book of bronze-age myth.

  • This is not a Biblical discovery, who are you kidding? Be serious.. just like the Voynich manuscript is a hoax and nothing but just that. You are looking for Biblical Discovery!?! Look into Vonshtain's work!

"Free to Be Me" by Arthur Vonshtain

This is a novel written under the vail of fiction.. but to know if it is read chapter nine. BOOOOOOO!

  • A nice story, fit for kinderfarten.

  • Nicely put!

  • Where can I get one of these slings? I've been looking on Google in the US for weeks and I haven't found one retailer.

  • if you want, give me your e-mail and i will contact you.

  • @fonermenorqui hey contact me as well

  • @fonermenorqui Do you give them free or do you sell them?

  • @mike19145 Just make one, it is dead easy.

  • @mike19145 got to slinging.org and they'll show u how to make simple slings as well as complicated ones.

  • @mike19145 you have to make your own... look in my Chanel for Ancient Weapons .. you will see how..

  • @mike19145 go to slinging.org and read the guides

  • @mike19145 They're easy to make.

  • @mike19145 You make one

  • @mike19145 make one ; ) its not hard made one at ten years old

  • @mike19145 fuckin make one dummy!

  • @mike19145

Just make one. Seriously, making a simple one takes about a half hour (depending on how you make it) and dirt-cheap everyday materials. I've made like seven or eight. After the first couple or so you'll start making some really good ones. Don't waste your money!

  • @mike19145 just make one.. like i did using shoe lace and leather or denim

  • @mike19145 On jocatapult.de you can find very great slingshots from this typ!

  • my Hebrew and Ancient Near East lecturer has a huge problem with people interpreting this story as if David was only a boy, and as if the sling was merely a toy.... it's one of her pet hates. While I believe she may be wrong in making too little of the fact that David was using a sling (i.e. I believe the Biblical authors are making a statement about the simplicity of the weapon against the advanced armory of Goliath) this documentary seems to provide a balanced view..

  • Your lecturer is right David wasnt a boy. Goliath called him a boy because goliath was an older experieced soldier. Other documentries put the sling on par with a crossbow and even a pistol.

  • Those stones they are shooting are amazing! I get all mine from a big field so they aren't near a good. And that sling is beautiful, I wonder how they made it.

  • Si quereis os lo puedo resumir... ?

    Fatástico vídeo!!

  • Indeed, David was blessed! In my own personal video demonstration of a roughly fist sized rock through a plywood Goliath cutout, one can readily ascertain that the sling is formidable. In my video, if I had released the stone merely 1/100th of a second later, the rock would have gone over Goliath's head entirely. Such narrow release timing requirements involve more than skill alone.

    Blessings in Yeshua

  • @Techstuf "And he said, the things which are impossible with men are possible with God" (Luke 18:27).

David, much like the other inspired authors of the Bible & God's unfolding plan, was blessed indeed =) Our awesome Lord made a promise with his children, saying "seek and you shall find". The proof of God's existence & his mighty plan is ready to be found, with much more than one factual example, as the scientific, historic & prophetic validity of the Bible continues to grow. Take Care Bro!

  • David was:

    (a)skilled

    (b)lucky

    (c) blessed

    answer is c

  • @shane360xx Totally dude! The fact that this feat is humanly possible doesn't make the story anymore believe able. God doesn't need man's skills to perform His will-only mans willingness. Look Jonah, Daniel, Moses, Abraham, Israel, and countless other examples.

  • Excellent demonstration. The History Channel's episode is fair and balanced. It is refreshing to see a fair investigation which resists temptation to denigrate the Biblical record. Props to Luis.....his skills are formidable!

  • I must agree with you completely.

No, I am not agreeing with Techstuf because I am a Christian, but because as he/she said, it was refreshing.

If you are to disagree with what Techstuf said (which someone DID put a thumbs down to his comment) then I would wonder why. I did not see an unfair investigation, did you?

They did not prove David killed Goliath as the Bible states, only that such a feat is humanly possible.

  • @1InGodWeTrust1 They did approach it in a valid manor. But the fact whether oor not it is humanly possible doesn't change God's soveriegnity in this situation (or any for that matter).

  • @1InGodWeTrust1 I must agree as well, for whether we believe much the same or much different, surely one Truth exists for all that is past, present & future, even eternal.

While bias is often present & quite expected in exposes on the discovery & history channels, with the bias supporting the argument against a Creator, his Creation, or the Divinity of his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, this investigation was fairly voiced & scientifically validated. Thanks for the post foner! God Bless Friends =)

  • Please, just post things related with the video.

Don't discuss if the bibble and jesus exist and things like that, because the post will be deleted.

    Thank You.

I have a new slinging video coming soon!

  • @fonermenorqui I'm pretty sure that the bible doesn't exist! lol

  • nice 5/5

  • la verdad que si muy buen video espero y si de favor como dice mesonikis si tiene la vercion traducida gracias saludos

  • Magnífico vídeo:

Por favor, ¿no hay ninguna versión traducida al castellano?.

    Un abrazo.

    Gracias
