The Nimbys are on the prowl. Some say they are experiencing flicker. The closest house is over a quarter mile away AND surrounded by trees! Prove it. Its not noise its sound. Prove that it makes more sound than the wind through the trees. Birds? Non-issue. Want to save birds? Bring your cats in, stop driving cars/trucks, tear down tall glass covered buildings. Get over the bird thing. It just proves ignorance.
Things change, those people built near town owned land and unfortunately for them the town can do whatever they with the land, in this case it was a positive move.
It sux!!!! The noise is a killer on windy days. The town is being pressured by the "green" climate pressures and won't listen to those harmed. Various neighborhood groups are starting to form to get something done.
how much noise does it make? Are any houses affected by the flicker? Kill any birds yet? How much electricity are you getting for your $5 million? How many of the people disturbed by this have been compensated? Has the town had to buy any houses yet? Is this like Vinalhaven where people had to move out of their houses or the town bought them out?
It's nice how quickly they erected it I hope we get more in Falmouth (10 could power every house here for .01 -015 KW)
Benefit the local populous (not the national grid) & you won't have opposition like Cape Wind has (no incentive for the locals) & oh the soundtrack's cool :)
Libs wanted them so they got them. Now they are bitching that they make too much noise and are killing birds. *sigh*

This is great! My friend and I are working on a photo project of this specific turbine in Falmouth. Do you know when it's going to start spinning?
