  • Theres 2 models of simon xt.. This guy has one model I have the other.. Are either of em better than the other one?

  • @FlashBang214 The one i have is discontinued..the new version (the one without the Key Pad Cover) is the Simon XT v2. As far as differences..i dont think there are any...if there is any, I couldn't find much info on the net. GE no longer does security as another company purchased that department out from GE. So that makes it even harder to find out info in comparing the two.

  • How do you set no delay?

  • @FlashBang214 Hit the Doors/Windows Button Twice

  • What kind of ADT alarm is that. Does it have a name ?

  • love ur house dude its awsome u think its a one story until u go into a closet looking room wich is really downstairs doesnt look like a basement to me

  • Amazing product.

  • QUICK QUESTION: I dont have a landline, but i have a cell unit provided thru alarm.com Can I still set this up to call thru that cell unit or would that require monthly service?

  • @matthewrebeck I have no clue to be honest...i found a website that GE and alarm.com have partnered up for it to work however it doesn't specify to what model. This Simon XT does have the capability in adding on a Cellular Module (therefor no need for land-line) The part number of this module is 600-1048 and runs about $150 to $250. It may or may not work...i would call alarm.com and explain to them about this Alarm and the Cellular Module..I dont see why it shouldn't work though.

  • you have a nice house pretty big

  • Does anyone have experience with Frontpoint Security?

  • Quick Question. When you are at home and you arm the doors and windows are all the doors and windows instant or does the front door always have a delay? because some GE systems don't arm instant for all zones. The front door seems to always have a delay

  • @GETechHead You get to choose..when you arm your system on the Panel pressing the Doors/Windows button once will have a delay (10 - 30 seconds depending) when you push it AGAIN (Twice) it will arm Instant On.

  • @elninoloco7 ***When i say "Depending" on the delay that all depends on how long you want to have the delay by programming it..i cant remember the range of it...its around 10 to 30 seconds.)

  • @elninoloco7 Excelleeeent loll thanks!

  • wow and ive saw a older one on a other video i only thought there was those two

  • cool

  • is that keypad with pinnacle security?

  • @jman66053 Yes...they have the new Version (this one Version 1.....is now Discontinued and has been replaced by the Version 2)

  • I got everything working on my alarm, I receive the call on my cell as expected but I don't receive the same voice instructions you received.

Also, the panel states "system communication failure". I received the calls which means the communication did not fail. Did you change any setting to avoid this error ??

    Thanks

  • @mustfa100 Very weird...i have never encountered that problem, the only time that happens is if the panel does not communicate to the phone line itself...i would try disconnecting the phone reprogram the phone option settings (and re program your phone numbers) First, test it without connecting to the phone outlet. Then wait about 10 minutes or so, then connect it the the phone line and retry it...if you still get errors, you could have a defective phone module on the panel.

  • If you got no monthly bills meaning no alarm center wont 2 way your system or call 911? so whats the point of having it if no one wont call you and the authorties?

  • how did u connect the alarm panel to the phone? I cant see any visible phone wire from the panel to the phone

  • So Your Not Monitored-

Imagine If a Burglar Breaks In and You dont Answer your Phone

cause your Busy in a Meeting.

    -FYL-

  • @clutchone I'd be screwed but I obviously knew what i was getting myself into when i chose this versus paying monthly....(I just can't afford $20 - $35 a month $240-$420 a year!) Houses has been broken in to while the alarm goes off (Monitored or Not)....its just to scare the bugler....Keep in MIND however, i can still call up ADT, Brinks, etc, and have my CURRENT set-up to be monitored...it has that option available, so when i want get it monitored i already have a system for it.

  • @elninoloco7 You can purchase monitoring for about $9.00 per month from safemart.com. ($15.00 per month for two way voice). This is a no brainer if you have smoke detectors and CO detectors connected to your panel like I do. you would want your system to call for help in those situations if you couldnt, or if u wanted to use features on ya alarm like Duress codes. I too have the Simon XT... the updated panel)

  • This is a great alarm. However, there is a GE Simon XT V2(version 2) out now. This model isn't produced anymore. Check it out at alarm.com. I got mine from a friend who is a dealer. The potential of the Simon XT is unlocked with an alarm.com cellular chip. If someone cuts your phone line then the system won't work. Unless you get the cell chip. It now has an app for my iPhone. They have apps for the droid and blackberry too. Fully interactive with home control such as lighting/homeautomation, t

  • Dose it sounds loud?

  • @XxJulius95 Very LOUD!

  • Damn I love your house man!

  • I think its funny people are trying to trick everyone saying oh you have a internal dialer. I sell alarm systems and know all the capabilities. I think monitored systems are for paranoid people.....

  • Nice house Dude..!

  • hey can you tell me how you got it to call your cell?

  • @tbirch2036 Under Options in menu go to Phone's menu then Phone # you can add up to 4 numbers...

  • Can you tell me how to program it so it can call my cell phone please. And do you have info on getting extra key chin

  • @dlpeace Under Options in menu go to Phone's menu then Phone # you can add up to 4 numbers...as far as Keyfob ... go to google or eBay..in search cut and paste this model: TX-4014-01-2 .. then it'll show up what u need to buy

  • Hi, thanks for the vid. I noticed that this is the same model that alarm.com uses. So you don't need ANY monthly payment service to use this security system at all? It just automatically calls your cell phone from your home phone and that's all there is to it?

  • @Koba1t NO monthly Plans..alls you need is a landline phone line to connect the unit to the wall, program unit (up to 4 numbers) and thats it....the reason why ADT, CPI, etc, charges you monthly is for THEM to call 911 for you.

  • Hey dude, I need some help 'tripping' the door/window sensors. I am having horrible time with these things. I cannot get the sensor to trip. Manual says to remove cover to tamper the device.... no tampering is happening! Others says press the tamper button/switch.. where is that?? Please help man!!!

  • @industrialhed I have sent you a Private Message.

  • Thanks for the video ... Question for you guys ... I installed one of these this weekend in my home ... Whenever I arm Doors and Windows, my Motion Sensors are arming as well ... I suspect it's the fact that I have all Sensors to Group 10 ... What should my Doors/Window be set to and then what should the Motion Sensors be set to? I can't find this information in the Manuals ... Thanks.

  • Do you get it monitored?

  • How do you get the Simon XT to dial your cell phone? I have the same model and programmed the phone numbers, but it won't call my cell. What am I missing?

  • @milchad First obviously make sure that the telephone line is connected both to the unit and the home. Secondly under menu make sure all options are on for the phone menu, Wait for the delay time, for example if its a 15 sec. delay....Dont silence your system before 15 seconds. (u may change time on Delay ,10, 15,20, etc sec)

  • Good deal, I got it working, thanks! One more question, do you have the ability to control the unit off-site (do things like check status, arm or disarm) with your cell phone? If so, how do you do that?

  • @milchad You can...it depends how you have the answer mode under option. I beleive by defult (im not sure). You call your home..then when you hear the FIRST ring HANG UP!...then call your home AGAIN..The simon will detect the incoming call, enter your password..and then u can arm, disarm, check status, etc..from ANY phone in the world.

  • the logo for this thing looks like a swastika

  • i love how its a British voice

  • So the SIMON has an built in voice dialer?

  • yes it does

  • HI did you have any issues with getting the motion detector to work? or program? I did and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks,

  • Cool i have the same one

  • I have that one in my house its pretty pimp but i think im goning to swich to ADT

  • looks cool

  • Oopss My Bad I Just Seen THat you Said You Installed The External Sirens lolz. Why Kinds Do You Have?? And How Many?? If You Don't Mind Me Asking

  • Two (The Control Panal and the Siren in the Basement) its the GE 13-950 External Siren. Both Sirens fill the entire house with sound. I plan on installing another siren outside my garage for my neighbors to hear (well when ia break in is in progress)

  • Oh Ok Sweet!!. Thanks I Should Get One Thats A Loud Bad Boy. I Have Two Indoor Sirens Plus The Keypad One Is An Ademco And THe Other Came With The System All 3 Of Those Together Is No Joke lolz. I'll Be Posting MY System Soon So Keep A Look Out Later.

  • Cool System. I Have The GE NX-4V2. Did You Connect Any Additional Sirens In The Basement Or UpStairs?? Because Thats An Impressive Siren Coming FromThat One Keypad

  • That noise is as annoying as hell.

  • There are no monthly bills?

    How much did it cost?

  • Nope, no monthly bills b/c there is no company that is monitoring the home. Meaning that if the alarm goes off, it will call the number you programmed, in which then you would call the police. In ther words, people who pay ADT, Brinks, CPI, etc. are basically paying them to call 911 for them. Of course there are pros and cons for both option and depends on your needs. The system I have is roughly $500,, but depending on what solutions youre looking for you can get it for about $150 - $200.

  • the speakers to your tv

  • Bose 151.

  • what audio do youhave

  • what do you mean by audio?

  • Motion sensors should not be near the door or control panel

  • where did youbuy this system?

  • ebay...but just google home security alarm systems and there are many online stores that sell them. You can build your own system.

  • ***** 5 stars

  • where is your other siren

  • The other siren is in the Basement within the Utility Room..

  • We dont have this system in AUS, But i would like to know if i could buy one from the US...

  • Im sure you could...ebay? ... or google SIMON XT

  • i have the same system but it came used from craigslist for $25 i cant get it to call me cause it came from pinnical security but still does its job
