this was a nice song and performance at the opening ceremony, but listening to it now, it seems just above average and not on par with any of the memorable songs from previous Games, e.g "One Moment In Time" , "Reach" and "Amigas Para Siempre" .

If you can read the Chinese you can see that the people in the video all come from counties around the world. It is a message that the world should unite as one. Although during the Olympics is the one of very few moments were the world is actually united, this song promotes that people unite not only during the Olympics but everyday. I wish the British luck in London for their Olympics in 2012. Hopefully it wont be until then where the world is once again united by a common goal.

I'm a 'westerner', and I don't believe I'm 'stuck' up(I think that's what you wanted to say, because suck up doesn't make much sense in that context). I fully supported the Olympics being held in Beijing. China is such a wonderful place, rich with history and beauty. Just because it has a communist government doesn't lessen that.
I'd very much appreciate if you didn't sterotype all 'westerners' in one category. It's not fair at all.
I agree, I am a 'westerner'. And by people saying that we are all 'stuck up' is showing how ignorant they are, putting a sterotype over billions of people.
Just shows how incorrect they are, their upbringing and their mind set.
I love the Beijing Olympics. It is one of my favourited olympics, under sydney :P

For once, I hope BBC can drop the political orientation when commenting the Olympics. For ordinary people, we just want to enjoy the game. For once, please all drop our different cultures, political concerns and try to be close and feel the joy of sport together, from which, we may be able to gain some understanding from each other, to feel that people leaving on the other side of the globe may not be so different. You and Me, we are family.
oh if it's London, don't expect something as dramatic as the Chinese's opening day, simply because they have less people. After all, China's opening could be listed as the most dramatic and best opening day of all!

it's similiar to what sarah brightman is singing, but just a little different.
His chinese name is 劉歡 (say liu huan), .some other videos on youtube might have english subs. keep looking ;)
P.S if you know very few chinese words, the song will sound lot better :P
