  • Johnny is an amazing singer. He is surely one of my favorites !!

  • He has an unbelievably beautiful voice! I would love to see him in person!

  • I have been a Hank Jr fan for over 35 yrs, This is one of favorite songs. It's hard to call it. Johnny's version is AWESOME. Those who know me, know I just said alot. Johnny is one of the best singers, and NEVER gets the credit he deserves.

  • I owe someone an apology! Johnny was in jail for goat rustling and Tom T did help him start his career but you are right it is Sabinal Texas But he IS Hispanic and from texas and that is what some people call a Tex-Mex . Please accept my apology. The person that informed me apparently did not know the right story!!!!!

  • @MegaFeathers1

Don't worry about it. I was Johnny's original bandleader and he wasn't offended by any remarks unless they were meant with malice. The true story is he was with some friends in Garner State Park and they stole a goat Prize Angora unfortunately) and cooked cabrito. they got busted.John took the rap. He was in his cell singing and a TX Ranger, Joaquin Jackson heard him sing and told Happy Shahan (owner of Alamo Village) about him. Happy hired him and he did a show with Tom T.

  • @mightycujo Give Johnny a Hello from me from Yancey,Texas. Johnny knows where Yancey is. I was a friend of his long time friend Laura Canales. Ive met Johnny a few times but I am sure he doesnt remember me.

  • This song was written by Lamar Morris and Darrell McCall and was a number one hit for Hank Wms Jr. in 1972. It would appear that the Johnny Rodriguez version was released Oct 1983 on Epic Records. Thanks for posting it tguy321.
