  • I think this is selfish. There are people who don't want to be helped. Some people cannot be helped.

Maybe because of the way they have been raised, or because of their history.

I had troubles and suicidal thoughts in the past also. I'm just saying I'm also respecting people's decision if they decide they want to kill themselves. No one deserves a shit life if he decides to give it up!

No one deserves to be forced to suffer!

Please think before giving me a reply supported by anger or hatred.

  • @dONALDBLOOD There's no anger or hatred here. We do not believe that people should be forced to stay alive if they are thinking about suicide. Rather, we teach a model that helps caregivers to understand a person's reasons for dying, and any reasons there might be for living. It is ambivalence about suicide that can sometimes help someone make a decision to stay alive, for now.

I hope that makes some sense. Thank you for your thoughts, and best wishes.

  • @GrassrootsCIC Yes it does, thank you for the answer. I support this kind of thinking.

  • I wish my son had seen this video before he took his life May 5, 2010, at the age of 18.. he was a beautiful young man but just could no longer face the difficulties in his life... Thank you for caring about all the people contemplating suicide.... the more we reach out, the more people we can help... hugs to the creators of this video... again, thank you :o)

  • @misscoulter8 Thank you for your comment; we will keep trying to dispel the stigma around suicide to make it easier for any of us to talk openly about it. All the best.

  • I often think of suicide due to the guilt I have to face about my addiction problem and the way I treat others around me under the influence. It'd be nice if somebody actually understood why I use, instead of telling me how horrible I am that I use. I get defensive when I'm attacked about it, then when I sober up, or under the influence of certain chemicles, I often take it into consideration. I've attempted overdose several times, but I don't die. I love my daughter and my family. Please see it

  • @cjstorey6 I hope people around you are able to see the love you have for your family. Thank you for sharing your experience. Best wishes.

  • @victor1eremita If you are in crisis, please have a look at the resources at the top of this page. Best wishes.

  • Amazing Video, my father and both his parents committed suicide. I'm always worrying that I will do it as well. Sometimes I have thoughts, but have never acted on them. No-one in my family will mention the suicides. It is so difficult. I am Alive because I believe there is more to life, and that life is reallyworth living no matter how painful. But I always wonder what will trigger me to do it, as if suicide is waiting to get me........ and then I think my thoughts are crazy.......

  • @6269victoria We are glad you are alive :) Keep on keeping on! We will keep working to dismantle the stigma that stops us from talking about suicide in our families and from telling people if we're struggling with thoughts of suicide.

  • This is such an important message. We all need to understand that Life is for Living. Life is hard, there's no denying that, but it doesn't mean we all have to be miserable. Everyone deserves to be happy and we each have the ability to make it happen. Thank you for this powerful message.

  • I am alive because when I tried to kill myself I saw my parent's faces from my hospital bed.

  • I'm alive only the play video games and I dont have a gun. The games thing may sound dumb to you but not to me I don' want it any other way if I do kill myself I don't want to be in pain by choking myself or anyother way just as painless as possible.

  • Video games and fear of pain can both be reasons for living; it sounds like they are helping you stay alive at the moment. It's not dumb, it is important to you and whatever gives you meaning, you stick with it. There is always hope however small it may seem. Please take care of yourself the best way you can and ask for help if you need it - if you scroll down below the video there are resources that might be able to help you with the stuff that's behind you thinking about suicide. Take care x

  • Is it normal to feel the thought of suicide everyday all day?????? As i function with day to day life that thought of suicide interupts me many times. As with everyone i have problems that never seem to go away and i can't seem to deal with them so i drowned myself in presciption drugs and alchohol. I know it is wrong but it seems to do the trick. I dont think i need to worry about commiting suicide because i know it is wrong. Its just the thought that haunts me.

  • @maxwindsorontario We believe that thoughts of suicide are understandable, complex & personal. Most of us are likely to think about suicide at some time in our life. We also believe that suicide is a preventable death; most of us who think about suicide don't act on those thoughts. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with these problems - as you say, they are part of life, but I hope you can find a way to get some support that can be healthy too. Best wishes to you x

  • If I didn't have teachers in my 10th grade coming out year (full of hate) telling me how things would get better and how much easier college was socially; I don't think I could have made it.

  • This is such an essential message, thank you for making this video and sharing it with us all x

  • This is a good video, and an excellent organisation. They talk about helping people who want to commit suicide, and not belittling them or judging them. Need more like this around, much much more.

  • ima alive because i dont have a gun and btw if i try to talk to my family about it they tell me to shut up :(

  • @halodude178 Sorry to hear how bad you're feeling. Please, please talk to someone else if it's not OK to talk with your family. If you scroll down the page below the video there's a link with lots of resources - websites and helplines. You are not alone x

  • Beautiful and poignant. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Brill! I hope it makes a big difference ... well done, Dave

  • Emailed response to I Am Alive video:

“I am alive because, tonight, a friend posted your I Am Alive video in his FaceBook status.

In that same hour, another friend started a Words With Friends game with me and in two moves played the words 'give' and 'share'. Sounds silly but under the circumstances - Really, what are the odds?

No one knew of my suffering.

Suicide is a taboo subject in the US...thank you for being aware and willing to talk about this. K”
