  • I thought it sounded really cool. Everyone thinks they are an expert music critic these days.. as soon as they see amazing technique they mindlessly go into NO FEELING mode.

  • playing looks cool.... but it dosent sound cool.

  • "More of a show of technique than an actual piece." <--- That doesn't make any sense to me. This dude's technique is great and that's just the level of playing that he is at. He makes music to express himself through harmonies and melodies and it's not an "actual piece"?? Just because his notes travel through more than one octave at a fast speed doesn't mean it's "not" music or expressive. I never understood people who think harmonized arpeggios aren't expressive musically. Fuckin retarted!

  • The sweep at 0:12 sounds like some kinda lydian, or some b5 sweep I know. Suchhh a cool sound! This is great. Could also be seen as a minor sus arpeggio, but either way. Amazing technique and cool sounds.

  • ummm.... what the fuck just happened?

  • And this guy has it..... I felt like I had to point that out for some people so there is no missunderstanding.... =)

  • A good guitarist hears when there is feeling, soul, dynamics and so on. regardless if it's fast or slow. It exists in both..

  • Can you play wonderwall?

  • guthrie wins

  • i've heard a lot of gottyboy vid and music...yes he is a great shredder indeed.....but his"music" has no any message.....any feeling...nothing..he play like a robot

  • great solo! that guitar is scalloped isnt it?

  • why do you have to speed up the video??? you're fast we know that......

  • this is cool, but it's more of a show of technique than an actual piece

  • awesome. got to get the album when it comes out.

  • All you haters out there nit picking, you are all ridiculous morons who wish they could play as smooth and as fluid as this guy. Am certain you don't have 1/100 of the talent this guy does. Do you notice how easy this is for him? The fluidity? If you don't have something good to say. With all due respect. Scram.

  • All of these are so overplayed. Everyone knows that Gotty can play fast, this is just not charming at all...

  • time.....

  • skills

  • crazy chromatic end run!

  • Man You Rock×

  • Damn...

    I give up.

  • cazzo!!! sei troppo grande!!!!!

  • great guitar player...

  • "Jjust because some put more effort in speed doesn't make them less musical! "

If you concentrate on showing off speed/technique instead of phrasing you get less musicality. Much more interesting to the ear to hear rests, phrases, than constant notes. Alex Hutchings, Jimmy Bruno, and Pat Metheny are good examples of phrasing supported by great technique. Even this guys Guitar Idol entry is better than this vid.

  • Fuck You all. If you are really good at guitar you can feel the feel in this peace.

  • Exactly...you NEED to be a guitarist to appreciate this or else it's just bunch of notes. i.e. chicks don't really dig it!!

Personnaly I play guitar too, but choose to put more effort on the music rather than technique.

If you focus more on the music you can become artist, if you focus more on technique you can become an instructor!..your choice

  • ur absolutely fuckin rightt dude but this is cool tho u gotta admit

i wish i could go to gc and start playin this shit ud have everyone in there like WTF??!

  • again, you would be doing it for your own ego, showing off, trying to prove something.... Not exactly the makings of an artist!

    But to each their own!

  • w/e dude it would be fun i dont give a fuck have some fun once in a while.

  • making MUSIC IS fun!!!!....spitting notes out at babbling speed---boring finger exercise!

Don't get me wrong though, you CAN have fast solos that is very musical (ex: EVH), just need to balance the speed with note choice that's all!

  • all im saying is have some fun and love what u do.

and chill out dude lol all i said was that it would be fun to play like this at gc.. i know making music is fun its what i love to do. i guess im just saying it would be fun to play like that because i dont have the chops dan has so i dont know what its like to be able to play that way.

and what might sound like a finger exercise to u might sound completely different to someone else. we all have different opinions and tastes.

  • @vracan IMO the whole showing off thing isnt very artistic...but the way I see it, if people want to play for those reasons...its ok aslong as they have fun!!!thats what its all about anyway!!

  • You're right at the end it is about fun!...and everyone has different idea what fun is to them, so I say play and let play!

  • ur gay, so be gay..

  • @andymcguitar this aint no show-off man... that's the way to play these fusion legato licks .... otherwise it'd be harder than it actually is

    peace out bro

  • @MakeMeBadKornPorn i wasnt insinuating that gottyboy was just showing off. I love his playing. I was replying to someone elses comment

  • @andymcguitar yeah man too late when i noticed it lol

    sorry for that :P

  • @andymcguitar btw i checked out your videos.. they're cool you can also stop by my channel i got some metal/fusion covers goin on there :D

  • @vracan hey dude i read your comment... this fusion style is also pretty musical since it has it's roots on jazz music, it's not just a random choice of notes... it has a whole of theory behind it since it aplies, modes and intervals which makes music, more versatil and less cliché, you know more interesting and unconventional :d peace out dude!

  • MakeMeBadKornPorn,

Yes I understand, but I did'nt say it's a bunch of random notes, it only sounds like bunch of random notes--to the average listener- who happen to be non-musicians!

Don't get me wrong, I think this dude danielle is phenomenal- but I'm a musician too, so it's biased!

Let's face it though, you must all agree that Daniele has put more focus on technique rather than "music" for this piece.

And that's all I'm trying to say!

  • no feling in this video, pure technical, but he is great guitar player

  • yeah..I'm totally agree..

  • Yup, you're totally right. Pointless playing without any idea what to play... But he's great technique, indeed.

  • How can you say that technique excludes feeling? That's just ignorant. Typical trash talk but in a sofisticated way by adding, "great techinique tho'".

I'm just tired of smashing down on excellent guitar players a.k.a machines just cos they are fast. Or because they have no crazy guitar faces. Who are you to say if they enjoy the music or not. And no idea, hah? I smell jelousy.

Jjust because some put more effort in speed doesn't make them less musical!

  • @toodelsnoodelstin couldn't be more right... ppl should see that it takes a lot of effort and musical knowledge to play this style... and it takes a lot of hard work to build speed, and just cause some players are lazy to build speed they justify themselves by mentioning feeling in playing...

ANYONE CAN BUILD SPEED!! STOP BITCHING AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !

instead of hatin this awesome style and players...

  • @MakeMeBadKornPorn i see there is much effort put into speed and technicality, knowing where notes are etc. i know becuase i myself have been through those long hours of sitting there doing exercise. i can play fast, *not quite this fast :S* but i try not to unless i feel its right. but see just becuase something takes effort doesnt meen its good. imagine the effort it took to kill 6 million jews in the holocaust!!!??? do we admire that? NO!

to me, music is about music and not technical....--->

  • @MakeMeBadKornPorn not technical ability. technical ability to me is just an aid! if i want to write a song or a solo, i dont want a physical boundary (a truly horrible guitar) or to be bounded in the chains of ignorance ie- "sucking" at guitar. so anyways to link this back to your point, if it is technically good it doesnt necessarily mean it sounds nice. now that in itself is subjective and i recognize that in your opion this sounds nice, but imo it doesnt.

  • @MakeMeBadKornPorn oh and for anyone who doesnt think this guy is feelin it, DESCRIBE "FEELING IT"?? yeaaa wtf do u want him to do make some shitty faces? look at 0:09 ?? you have no right to say he isnt feeling it cus you are not him! often times if i am happy i play a little faster without knowing it. thats feeling!!!??? so stfu. i dont even like this but i recognize he is feelin it

  • @toodelsnoodelstin I agree with you, but putting a video on Youtube exposes you to critics, no?

  • @toodelsnoodelstin to all the haters (not toodelsnoodelstin, i dont mean you obv lol) how the fuk can you play guitar without technique?! technique and feeling in music go hand in hand, you cant have one and not the other you just may not enjoy the feeling that a specific musician is giving off. just because people dont like a type of music doesnt mean its crap its just that they cant relate to that kind of feeling.

respect music for what it is, not for what it isnt

  • @toodelsnoodelstin

    right!

  • @toodelsnoodelstin Speed does not equal good music.

  • @toodelsnoodelstin i hear you man! sometimes i feel like most of these people are talking like this to make themselves feel better for not practicing. some also say, ''everyone can learn these techniques'' but not everyone can apply those techniques to make themselves sound better.

  • yeah hes great. u guys are brutal! nice outside stuff, and for 30 seconds i like to see some riffage. watch his blues and you will see that he can phrase like a motherfucker and breaths the riffs

  • oh do shut up.............snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • This was nuts! And Daniel can breathe, watch his other videos

  • you need to breath, not so many notes, try some feeling in the notes, let em ring a bit, its a different style u are playing to.

  • very boring self indulgent crap...he should take lessons from paul gilbert on how to rock

  • and paul should take theorie lessons from daniel, because im bored to listen only pentatonic licks.

  • scarified and technical difficulties arent pentatonic major scale songs...you should dig some more of paul gilbert stuff..his racer x stuff and 2 solo albums...looks like you only heard him from mr big...which was a pop rock band

  • i know its not right what i said, but its laughable that daniel should take lessons.paul knows by far not the theorie daniele knows.

  • Comment removed

  • @guitarman069 lol dude... i mean maybe you don't dig fusion but you can't come and say its self indulgent crap cause it's not...

it's harder than paul gilbert stuff and that's a matter of fact since it applies more tehnique, speed and music theory... and lots of harmony

    well dude peace out

  • oh my lawd, scallopy goodness :o

  • That was BAD ASS.

  • Great Jam.

  • Ok, that was so far from funk fusion. That was sweep picking and tapping, was there any feeling it that?

I know it takes a lot of skill, but if you're going to put funk in the title, play funk

  • that was @ sreamingsymphony, you are great daniele

  • fusion kinda gets annoying...

  • This is more funk rock and this guy likes to shred a lot.

  • SEI UNICO!!!!

  • Where is the funk ? Velocity is not music but silence is !

    Bye.

  • Awesome technique, but has no melody. Speed isn´t everything. Music has to be "musical"!! Some players forgot that!

  • many good licks but no phrasing vocabulary whatsoever. I prefer to listen to a Robben Ford solo than a Shawn Lane's ultrasonic masturbation of the fretboard solo...

  • too bad you can't play none

  • Grande!

  • i wish i was you

  • Insane tapping!!!

  • Great player, but not enough phrasing

  • that because the video is only like 20 seconds long haha

  • @Visualundeath this guy evolv from pure shred to clean shred prhasing check out "Daniele Gottardo - Guitar Sbrego" he can hear guthries influence in him but man hes catching up to guthrie fast.

  • @o0StrayKittY0o Yeah, hes gotten MUCH better!

  • @Visualundeath listen to his actual music and not him demonstrations, he is an excelent musician with brilliant phrasing..

  • damn it... well done mf! jajaja!!

  • haha, its great ^^ Great and fun to watch :)

  • dagliele gotty!

  • bestiale

  • haha insaaaane

  • Cool
