The thing I always thought was funny about this game was that the demo that played if you didn't start the game right away had the helicopter shaking and moving back and forth to waste as much fuel as possible lol

26 years ago gamers would have paid for this, because it was $10 in a plastic bag with an A4 photocopied page, like so many other PC DOS games, and there were many worse than this and many better, but 100,000's of DOS gamers bought them!

Stop being a wheenie about the music and bad talking the play and graphics. DUDE in the late 80's 4colors were it at that time for most games. U know know nothing bout cool old school DOS games.

He's comparing this game to things you buy like mario and gradius... but consoles were in a whole different place then PC gaming, there is no way to compare 80s PC games to 80s console games. This was amazing for the PC.

And most games were made by one or two people.. not massive companies we have today.

@zombiehunter96 LOL , cool cool :) Yeah I've noticed a lot of people in their teens and early 20s are into a lot of the old classics, not just in gaming, but in movies and music too.
@sacrednic Hell yeah man. I can't stand today's music. I listen to anything from 20s jazz to (IMHO) some of the best music like the 60s or 70s rock. All my favorite movies are from befor I was born. Some movies from now are good but all the stupid CGI ruins it : /
it is definitely a very simple game, but obviously not easy and i don't think that has to do with it being clumsy. then again nobody's likely to expect *quite* this level of detail of gameplay given how it looks [and that we're looking at this 24 years later].

this is literally the first video game i ever played, and man was i glued to it back then.
landing the chopper was always the hardest part, since you're probably low on fuel (yes you're screwed if you flat run out), there may still be dangers in the vicinity thus preventing any safe landing, and it's the one part of the game to really do carefully, the brief lunar lander moment.
I used to play this game non-stop when I was 4 or 5. My older brother and I used to keep on beating each others scores, I held the belt in the end I think. We actually got pretty good but then again we were probably only ever playing on novice. Ah the memories. thanks for

HOLY SHIT!!! I remember that old game. haha just a few minutes ago I found footage of thexder (old DOS game) these are my two favorite games when I was a kid!!! Awesome stuff!
I loved this game, thx for posting :D! omg, the landing area in mission 2. Such a great graphic ^^ But it had bad crashes on our old 8068 and it was always exciting to reach the next level and hope the PC wasnt crashing :)
cool game man :) remember playing while placing weights on my spacebar and enter button so i was be able shoot and drop bombs without getting tired of pressing those keys :)

This is what I played on my monochrome (2 colors, yellow and black) monitor back when I was a kid, before Scorched Earth came out.
This game was hard, I could never get past the first mountain lol :D
