great but federer did his at 156 mph! fastest serve ever! unlike the so called karlovich serve which u cant even spot the ball, n the uploader says 156 bulshit to THAT!
@EikeiNDc yes i do but you dont have a clue what you are talking about, i'm a top tennis player have played for years, i bet your a waste of space, dent is nothing as well
@kelman221 u could but being a table tennis player i cant play both so fyi: tabletennis is the fastest ball sport and people who play it dont get Parkinson's disease
Ok I have a question. I thought you were meant to take a little off the serve so you could follow it in and be ready for the volley? Yet here is Taylor slamming it in 147 and still managing to get to the service box. Amazing.
american player prefer to use their big muscle instead of their brain, thats the reason why andy roddick is the only legacy for american tennis and we knew andy performance went down hill.
@abiyobiyo Sampras, Agassi, Chang? Or on the women's side - Williams sisters, Davenport? The US has been very well represented in tennis over the years and I'm sure there's plenty of other players from before I started getting into tennis that I've neglected to name that contribute to the great American legacy.
Also, Dent uses a serve volley style. One of the few players on the pro tour that do so consistently. It's not a 'no-brainer' style of play. It requires incredible reflexes and know-how.
@abiyobiyo I think Mardy Fish is more of a thinking player with his tactics and it now ranked inside the top 10 and has made several finals this year.
Not trying to be an ass here but I think every Grand Slam tournament he was in....whenever he was down in a match he would default due to injury. Either this guy had some serious atheletic issues and was never fully healthy or he just never wanted the true loss on his record. Tugh player though when he was on his game.
It's too bad he might retire. I love watching his serve and volley but he doesn't have the mobility he used too along with a little bit too much weight to carry around. Back problems are bad and I'm amazed that he was even able to come back at the level he is now. I hope Taylor can stick around the tour for a while longer!
First, it's the US Open, so speed would never be in KPH. Us Americans are kinda afraid of that kilo-metre thingy. :)
Second, 147 was short lived. Maybe right off racquet gun caught it at 147 (ball straight at gun). Energy was immediately converted to spin - Anaconda mentions arc. correct.
I serve 120-130's so I know timing... that serve wasn't a 147. At best 120 by time of return.
@napaoldblue and where did you play in college or pro? doubt it. yes i played in college and I was clocked at 131 and that was much faster so quit acting like you know what you're talking about.
@onebadmoto just caught this. Sorry. I played for Cal. I was clocked at SAP, where were you clocked, the country diner? Wish the view was from the receiver's POV, would get a better feeling for speed. I'm just drawing my conclusion from experience and the split-step. My hitting partner had one of the top ten fastest serves in the ATP in the day.
@onebadmoto well that was actually just at a club. why would that matter. If you know anything, you would understand that placement, speed, spin and misdirection are much more important to a competitive player. Really 130 or 150 doesn't matter, unless u use it properly.
I remember watching this match. Talk about old school playing, S&V on almost every point.

Lol dent is the coolest. doesnt know where he is serving but gets the job done.

@DunkinDonutful Funny. That's his game: bomb serve and great first volley. If he doesn't get one or both though he is totally f#cked on the point.

@millionairejh you can not muscle a 147 mph serve. muscle serves go 90mph tops

The sound of a top-of-the-line first serve is so sick. It sounds like a gunshot. The fastest I've seen live was like 146 or 147 by Karlovic.

He gets some serious arc on his service motion, however the 147 is nice, but did you see how unnaccurate it was.

How'd you say? I can see the top left screen which records the serve at 193 kph.

@nkrm015 I think that's 123 mph, not 193 kph. Then his next serve you can clearly see 147

actually the speedometer said 147 and whoever he was play broke their racquet dent is in the white
calebbonds09 2 years ago
actually he was playing navarro. He didn't break his racket. navarro uses a different racket for serving and returning.
joedragon88 2 years ago
wait... so it was so fast it broke his racket?

It didn't break his racquet. Ivan Navarro uses one racquet for serving and one for recieving. It sounds weird, but it's true!
