  • What kind of bike did you use? I want to do the same. I was thinking a mountain bike but then I can't attach panniers...

  • Cool video, great music. We have riden almost all the trail from McKeesport to Cumberland but we do it in spurts. From where my husband and I live, we sometimes have to drive 2 hours to ride a 20 mile portion of the trail then double back and drive back home. It is all worth it. There is nothing like riding thru the Big Savage Tunnel and going over the viaduct at Salisbury. For an excellent history of the trail I recommend Bill Metzgar's book The Great Allegheny Passage.

  • Hey what size tires are those/what do you recommend for the C&0? 700 x 28c?

  • @TheWWOOF

yes they are Vittoria 700x28c. I'm on my second set of these tires, no complaints.

i think you can ride the GAP trail with pretty thin tires, the trail was perfect condition, but the C&O not as smooth. the 28c was prefect size for me, don't think you need more then that.

  • You two must have stayed at bed and breakfasts and motels. I am a member of Bike Pittsburgh And Rails To Trails. Cross country cyclists should use American Discovery Trail. GAP trail connects to Laurel Highlands hiking trail, Sheepskin Trail and C and O trail. C and O trail Connects to Appalachian Trail, Tuscarora Trail and American Discovery Trail. The hiking possibilities go on and on.

  • Very nice

  • Just like Easy Rider, but on bikes!

  • nice

  • We love it! Best C&O Canal/bike video ever!
