You do know the Joker was played by two people right? Ledger and that other guy that was in a few scenes. Ledger died while the movie was still in production so they could bring back the other guy to make an appearance kinda like Cyllian Murphy as Scarecrow in The Dark Knight but I think between villains like Bane, Catwomen, and possibly Dr. Hugo Strange I think adding one more villain to the movie might make Christian Bale freak out again. We shall see in summer 2012

thank god, that Riddler wasn't in the 3rd film because Christopher Nolan is aiming the batman movies to be realistic, i mean.....C'MON! does Riddler has the sense of realism to you. The more I think about it the more I speculate about how The Dark Knight Rises would be with The Joker. The Joker is Batman's ultimate villian and I'm sure Nolen had intended that The Joker was going out with a bang in the last film, but ofcourse now we know that won't happen. The Dark Knight rises is doomed to not be as good as The Dark Knight, but I can still keep my fingers crossed.

I did not say that the role of the joker could only be played by Heath Ledger, what I meant to say was that it will be wierd watching someone else play that role.

1. Many actors could potray the joker just as well, if not better than, Heath Ledger. I think Jude Law would make a fantastic joker. Don't rule out the joker, because some idiot actor took a drug overdose.
2. The problem with the last batman was that everyone, including me, wanted to see it for the Joker. It was in essence the joker show. Aaron Ecks did OK as 2 face, and could work in a third film, but the biggest problem the second movie had was too many set pieces. (Cont)

What I think could happen with the joker is remember nickelsons joker? How he had the surgery and all that? Well the joker could be walking around all bandaged up and not getting a full face veiw because of the scars.
They could feature the joker in small parts of the story to support the new script with the riddler or whoever they decide on, therefore the recast is more subtle and could still stay true to heaths brilliant performance.

(continued) Two Face an the Scarecrow had in the past two movies. Where he could be pulling off stunts like in the Saw movies... putting Batman in death traps. But in terms of writing a villain to parallel Batman's persona the way the Joker and Ra's could, I don't think we have a villain. As big a fan of the Riddler as I am, I really don't see how they can write him into a movie being as threatening as say, Ra's Al Ghul, or the Joker. After reading a few Question and Answer articles from Nolan, it seems that the next Batman movie is going to be the conclusion.
It will leave off shortly after Dark Knight, The city thinks Batman is a villain. The real villain of the movie will be someone who wins the hearts of the city but masks his true ambitions. So he with the help of the police try and find Batman's identity.

I haven't really thought about whether Nolan did intend to bring Joker into the third film. I mean no offense in saying this, but having Joker being in the third film as Nolan's intention seems more of a personal speculation? (But if you do have evidence, please do so). Recasting the Joker seems bad (for me personally) becuz Ledger set it in stone and doesn't seem to be Nolan's style to bring back villains (even if Joker is still alive). Just my speculation. Seeing a new plot as a final is fun.
Inception and X-Men 3 were both awesome and the Joker shouldn't be recasted. Rachel Dawes was a good example of why recasting sucks. In order to resolve the Joker issue they could just put the Joker's sidekick in in his place.

Kelsey Grammar was perfect as Beast, but they lost Night Crawler, gave Angel like 10 minutes of screen-time and switched directors. It was not as good as it should have been. Same thing for Wolverine Origins, it deviated from the comic origins, Gambit had an accent that disappeared, and the whole intro was rushed

according to imdb, batman 3 will be released in 2012 and joseph gordon-levitt is rumored to be the riddler, if this is the case hopefully it will come together better than jim carey's abortion of the character...gordon-levitt is a good actor so it will be interesting to see where he takes the character, also apprently written and directed by christopher nolan so should be in for an epic one...

1. Many actors could potray the joker just as well, if not better than, Heath Ledger. I think Jude Law would make a fantastic joker. Don't rule out the joker, because some idiot actor took a drug overdose.
2. The problem with the last batman was that everyone, including me, wanted to see it for the Joker. It was in essence the joker show. Aaron Ecks did OK as 2 face, and could work in a third film, but the biggest problem the second movie had was too many set pieces. (Cont)

I think Nolan shouldn't recast the Joker unless he is 120% sure that the actor, whoever he is, can definitley match up to Ledger's standards. Otherwise, give some other villans more screen time. Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy would be cool!

What I think could happen with the joker is remember nickelsons joker? How he had the surgery and all that? Well the joker could be walking around all bandaged up and not getting a full face veiw because of the scars.
They could feature the joker in small parts of the story to support the new script with the riddler or whoever they decide on, therefore the recast is more subtle and could still stay true to heaths brilliant performance.

(continued) Two Face an the Scarecrow had in the past two movies. Where he could be pulling off stunts like in the Saw movies... putting Batman in death traps. But in terms of writing a villain to parallel Batman's persona the way the Joker and Ra's could, I don't think we have a villain. We could have the Black Mask as the next Mob Boss, causing the ruckus to make Batman return from hiding, and perhaps introduce Talia or Catwoman going in a different direction of villains to impact Batman. As big a fan of the Riddler as I am, I really don't see how they can write him into a movie being as threatening as say, Ra's Al Ghul, or the Joker. Ra's Al Ghul was bent on immortality and world domination, Joker was a psychopathic murder bent on chaos and manipulation. The Riddler, I can't see being so much of a threat to Gotham with any legit motive. He robbed banks and pulled capers for the sheer challenge of being able to get away with it. He'd be more suited for a smaller role like

I really like Harley but what's the point of having her with no Joker? As much as we want to hang on to Heath's Joker, the truth of the matter is, he's dead. To take The Joker out of all The Dark Knight sequels just because of this seems unfair, don't you think? I mean don't you want to see The Joker again?
Also as fun as Joker and Harley are, they really shouldn't make too big an appearance in the 3rd Batman. Else they would steal the spotlight from all the other villains waiting there turn.

Recast the joker with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) and give him a small cameo, have the Riddler "helping" the police find out who Batman is, have Talia Al Ghul hunting Batman as well, introduce Selina Kyle (but maybe not yet as Catwoman) and hint at Robin at the end (Circus invite maybe).

It will leave off shortly after Dark Knight, The city thinks Batman is a villain. The real villain of the movie will be someone who wins the hearts of the city but masks his true ambitions. So he with the help of the police try and find Batman's identity.

I haven't really thought about whether Nolan did intend to bring Joker into the third film. I mean no offense in saying this, but having Joker being in the third film as Nolan's intention seems more of a personal speculation? (But if you do have evidence, please do so). Recasting the Joker seems bad (for me personally) becuz Ledger set it in stone and doesn't seem to be Nolan's style to bring back villains (even if Joker is still alive). Just my speculation. Seeing a new plot as a final is fun.

Inception and X-Men 3 were both awesome and the Joker shouldn't be recasted. Rachel Dawes was a good example of why recasting sucks. In order to resolve the Joker issue they could just put the Joker's sidekick in in his place.

Kelsey Grammar was perfect as Beast, but they lost Night Crawler, gave Angel like 10 minutes of screen-time and switched directors. It was not as good as it should have been. Same thing for Wolverine Origins, it deviated from the comic origins, Gambit had an accent that disappeared, and the whole intro was rushed

according to imdb, batman 3 will be released in 2012 and joseph gordon-levitt is rumored to be the riddler, if this is the case hopefully it will come together better than jim carey's abortion of the character...gordon-levitt is a good actor so it will be interesting to see where he takes the character, also apprently written and directed by christopher nolan so should be in for an epic one...

I think they should open with batman being chased by the police as they try and hunt him down making it harder then usual for him. Then introduce a new villian where gothem needs batman to save the day yet again!
