Half of Season 9 is about the Project Freelancer, the other half is about Church living in his own memories( the Epsilon Unit ). So Agent Maine technically hasn't become the Meta yet. It talks about how he got shot in the throat by simulation troopers.

Also the voice of the pilot is the same as the lady from command who directs Agent Washington in Reconstruction.

Season 9 does not take place before season 1 it starts off after the reds get the warthog (they modify it to shoot rockets) but its different (donut was giving orders to simmons)

@nastypalmo No, at the point of the trailer AI's weren't made yet. Tex was a byproduct of creating the Alpha (Church) so she wouldn't come along until after Maine recovers from his "accident"

@nastypalmo I can see how you would infer that but I know it is not because in Season 1 she was still a Freelancer. That means that she was never a Pilot like in Season 9, which now in Episode 3 you can see that this character is in fact a Pilot and nothing more. If Tex was a Freelancer she would be going out on missions, not Piloting a Pelican as an ODST.

@1337Ninja3000 Nope, people don't seem to understand that Tex is an AI created as a byproduct of creating Church. She doesn't exist at this point in the story. When they create Church, that is when you can worry about Tex

@KevinPlaysGames Tex was a real person and a real Freelancer. She died later on in her real life and then was created as an AI by the Director because she was the only person he ever loved. She then died a lot more like from Donut, The Meta, and that explosion. All those were because she was designed after a failure so she never reached her goals. The other commenter claimed the Pilot was Tex while she was both dead, and still a Freelancer at that point.

@nastypalmo She is definitely the 'number one' freelancer and Agent Carolina. IN 'The Twins', episode 2, you can just see the bottom of her state name which, when matched up correctly, spells Carolina.

Wanted to go ahead and say director church and alpha church is not the same alpha church is the one we know and he was based off of the director. So actually that is what Church would look like. And btw he had no sunglasses. :)

The pilot was Tex you can tell because of the part were she told the guy in anchor 9 that there was not going to be a go around plus she can still take over bodies like church

@Gamermike118 hmm.. INTERESTING observation I never thought of it like that. That would be really cool but I think Tex is in her Freelancer state where she is just full on warrior doing missions and things. I doubt she would waste her time transporting the fallen ones (based on her personality)

the meta was shot in the throat in the trailer and that is probably the reason why he cannot talk and the trailer itself was set before season 8 apart from the scene with Church and Cabose and Tucker hiding behind the rock because cabose has the mark 5 helmet and Tucker had his sword

Half of the series is about the Freelancers before the RvB story began and the other half is about Epsilon Church's adventures inside of the recovery unit while he is looking for Tex. If you watch carefully you'll see all of the original characters in their Reach forms (aside from Lopez whole will undoubtably be there)

I hate to break it to you but the season 9 trailer isn't about the events after season 8 finale. It's a flashback, the trailer is at least. It seems to explain the metas lack of speech, and york's bad eye. Then again I may be wrong and if i am i apologizes ahead of time.

You are absolutely right because it talks about before Red vs Blue there was Project Freelancer and Director Church is still a semi young man. However, part of the series will be about Epsilon Church's adventures inside of the recovery unit looking for Tex and that will be after Revelation
