  • Hm. I had one of those.

  • @AnneX1133 Me too...5 years ago

  • @AnneX1133 I have been trying to find someone who knows a little more about this....I had head surgery when i was a kid about 10 years ago, massive. But I was never told about any symptoms or side effects after the surgery was COMPLETE.

Do you know of all the side effects after surgery? long term and short term?

  • @AdamTheCosmonaut

I'm confused... you said you had the surgery 10 years ago but you don't know about the side effects? Haven't you experienced them?

Side effects that I encountered were: short term: very tired, very easily confused, extremely uninhibited (somehow I found being rude very funny), bad concentration,...

Long term: still quite easily tired, I still have problems in very crowded places, I get irritated very easily. I still blur out things without thinking about it (but I know

  • @AdamTheCosmonaut

... the difference between being rude and acting normal now), still some concentration problems now,...

My accident is 4.5 years old now.

  • @AnneX1133 ...Well yeah I do have problems....just like that, but I thought that was just how I was normally, I do find myself with short term memory, confusion only when reading, awful concentration, Irritation, I also had this odd thing happen to me to where I would excel in school for months at a time and than drop down significantly enough to fail miserably, on any type subject , I had also wanted to know if chemical imbalance could happen to produce depression?

  • @AdamTheCosmonaut

Wow. Someone who feels the same I have felt. Perhaps your depression is caused by chemical imbalance, I experienced the same. I always thought it was because my brain had to work twice as hard and I was so tired, everything was more difficult + in my case the lack of understanding from my environment. They try, but you can never explain. My math skills dropped to the lowest. Confusion, irritation, concentration are all very normal side effects of this surgery. They suck :)

  • @AdamTheCosmonaut

It is also difficult to not be able to do the things you used to do anymore. I think people have gone depressed for less. Have the doctors not informed you about the side effects you were going to experience? At least I was lucky enough to be prepared..

And I have not taken any medication, because there is no specific kind of medication for this kind of trauma. I just slept anough, avoided crowds,.. tried to make the best of it.

  • @AnneX1133 btw do you take any medication for your side effects or do you just let it be?
