can someone please tell what i do when it says stuff like 15b17? does that mean i hit 15 before 17? or do i just put both fingers on those frets and bend?
I updated the guitar pro's tab of this song that was in Drop D and converted it to Down 1 step and matched the tab in this video to the tab on there. Message me if ya want me to send ya a link or a pdf of it. Happy Shredding All!! Garret
yo man, how come all the links for tabs are different than the ones on screen? like the first fast part of the solo, you have 12 to 15, 12 to 15, were as the tabs to 10 to 13. which way is legit?
@melikespunk12 That's because of the tuning - most tabs you find will have the song tuned in drop D, which will mean you play the solo starting at 10 to 13. But Dime played the song in D-standard which gives you 12 to 15. Both ways are correct really, you're playing the same notes, but 12 to 15 is the way Dime did it. You'll find that the fake echo part is a lot easier in D-standard tuning too
check out my cover of this song and all my other pantera covers, i PROMISE you won't be disappointed!!!! and thank you for doing so!!! subscribe to me too!!!
Wow man, excellent job. I can finally play one of my favorite guitar solos so thank You. It's alot easier for me to keep it in standard tuning so I'm glad You used standard tuning. really great job though dude and thanks for taking the time to put tabs also.
1. It keeps on hitting other strings, do i have to constantly palm mute the other strings?
2. Whenever I bend extensively, my fingernail like literally spereates from the skin, so that the skin under my nail digs into my fingers. Does any1 have a solution for that?
@sbpark95 wen u bend, the hitting strings problem is cuz of this. wen u bend, try to hav the skin of the finger dat ur bending with touch the upper string. this will mute the string but make sure ur fingernail doesnt touch it. and for ur second problem, it mite be a physical problem or ur just trying too hard. try to use a lighter gauge for ur strings but if dat doesnt work out, maybe go to a doctor?
@sbpark95 im only 13 so my fingers arn't full length. what i do when i bend is use the bottom of my fingers (opposite side of finger nail) and try to mute other strings for your other string problem
@sbpark95 For issue #2, use two or three fingers to bend, like if you are bending a 12th fret note, use your ring finger on the 12th to play it, and your middle and index fingers on the 11th and 10th to help with bending.
Can you please work on the Cowboys From Hell Solo?? That would be great and i learned this one up to speed it helped a bunch!!! Like this so It gets to the top!! R.I.P DIME!!

Excellent job, you're a great player, and thank you for producing something infinitely more helpful than any of the tabs on ultimate guitar! I salute you.
@scorpionz44 For good bends and vibrato you need quite thin strings, but you get the best tone from thicker strings, so it's all about finding the right balance
@evilotto77cheese i've heard that the best thing to use for these kinds of songs are Ernie Ball heavy top slinky bottom strings are the best, although i've tried the zakk wylde heavy top slinky bottoms and imho, they were some pretty sick strings, try something like those and you should get a good sound for your bends
For my own guitar, I use Blue Steel strings. They undergo a cryogenic freezing process, and have an incredibly live tone that lasts a long time. However, using standard .09 to .42 strings doesn't give me the "chug" I love. So, I like the thin strings on my first four strings, but use thicker strings on my 5th and 6th strings to give a brutal chug on the low end, and maintain vibrato/bend on high notes. Blue Steel also provide awesome harmonics. I refuse to use any other brand.
@evilotto77cheese id say thts wrong, i mean jst looking at the type of players who use thick strings like 12s and 13s: Jimi Hendrix, SRV and Zakk Wylde it tends to be the ppl who do alot of bends that use thick strings....ultimately thick strings will always sound better BUT thinner strings are easier to play, thts why more technical players such as Dimebag, Steve Vai and Yngwie use them
@scorpionz44 I RECCOMEND HOOKIN UP SOME HEAVY ASS STRINGS, TAKIN A SHOT, AND BEND THOSE FUCKERS LIKE YOU MEAN IT. imsorry but that my goddamn outlook. find w/e string you want.
Dime's solos are FAST, and awesome. He shredded with feeling. I memorized this in about 30 minutes, but I will have to practice this for a few months before I can play it right. Thanks for the lesson. :D

nice vid man im about 1 and half in .. almost got the whole solo down .. but not up to speed i will eventually though.. only problem i have... is a shitty amp so my dean bbolt dosent sound as great and it dosent have a whammy bar witch sucks .. got replace the any part the whammy bar is used with a vibrato but other than that i think i could get this down.. oh and how do u tune 1/4 down ? i dont really understand how he tunes like that ha
@thenoobtech Don't know about the new Korean ones but I have an 06 china one. The koreans are supposed to be better but from what I hear all Dean imports are hit or miss by miles. I got lucky with mine and I love it but there's hundreds of horror stories. Mine is made out of 5 pieces on just the body, another guy had 8. Good guitars other than that, just try it out first.
@countflanders technically your right, but that doesnt mean you cant bend the string so that the note goes to what would technically labeled the 25th fret, whether its there physically or not
@Barnarded The actual song is played in D-standard tuning down 1/4, so you'll be using the exact same frets as I'm using here, but in the correct tuning :)
@Barnarded actually, the way dime tuned it for this song is 1 and 1/4 steps down, not standard or drop d. he's also tuned like this for i'm broken, a new level, 5 minutes alone, and others. for songs that most people think is in standard like mouth for war or cowboys from hell its actually a 1/4 step down than standard, I guess dime does that to give it his own flavor and a little more crunch.

@evilotto77cheese For any of Pantera's stuff, try out Dimebag's signature strings from DR. Fuckin' love how they feel like 10's which they are but bent like 9's!
ehhh... couldn't you use the fine tuners on the tremolo to tune it down a whole step? I usually use the fine tuners when I go to Drop D but I dunno if it works for a whole step....
evilotto77cheese I have to say thank you so much for doing and posting, you saved me hours of figuring it out - you're a fine player, God Bless. Thanks.
actually, the real tuning of this song is 1. tune to c sharp standard. 2. tune up a quarter of a step. im not sure if thats the same as d tuning a quarter of a step but what i did sounds good too
Don't mean to sound like a dick but... the slide part you do it 5 times its only 4 slides and you lead off with your fret hand you should lead off with your picking hand.
man this is played so fast, I'll never be this good at guitar, damn it. if it were ever to me doing the solo I'd do it in some cheap easy way. doing the fake echo is kinda easy
