  • I met her :D

  • @Marjorina125 Lucky!!

  • I wish I was still skating... :( If only I didn't become poor...

  • Wonderful performance! I had never seen Sasha Cohen before, she's really one of the best skaters ever and this program is just beautiful

  • I would go lesbian for her

  • What a thrill to watch her skate. Beautiful. Great energy. Always hold on to this performance when we think of Sasha. She's like a gymnast/ballerina on ice with spark.

  • hottie

  • She makes me want to cry!!!!! She's SO good!! I ♥ u Sasha Cohen!!

  • absolutely beautiful

  • er112599 your coach is sasha cohen, and she used to skate at your rink!!!

    amazing i love sasha cohen

  • I love Sasha, she is such hard worker, and it shines in herperformance! And she is so pretty, too. Very graceful, pretty good stamina. I'm no ice skater, but she is just fantastic XD

  • Sasha Cohen is such an amazing skater and her first coach is my coach now she used to skate at my ice rink

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this in 2011.

  • Love 3:04-3:28 :D

  • have been obsessed with this program from day 1 when she performed it!!

  • Anyone notice the extra dark eye shadow she is wearing here to go along with the program "Dark Eyes"?

  • I have her autograph XD <3

  • 32 People Forgot To Press Play :) HaHa

  • i love watching sasha skate!

    shes my inspiration xx

  • the commentator at 3:51-3:54....WTF? hahaha

  • sasha your the best !

  • i love the expression in her eyes, like a lioness or something.

  • I remember seeing her skate this live. Sasha = Amazing performer.

  • Does anyone know the name of this music?

  • @iluvVinnyC "Dark Eyes"

  • Amazing

  • god damnit. i hate it when crowds clap.

  • Es fantastica! me encanta como patina esta mujer :3

  • WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!?!?! FOR 3 MINUTES AND 52 SECONDS I DIDN'T BREATHE. THAT WAS BREATHE-TAKING!!!

    ISN'T SHE PERFECT?

  • 32 people don't appreciate how hard skaters work. Gosh.

  • @Moondancerskater Most of them are Russian.

  • I have watched this so many times today I can't stop I'm mezmoriezed by it !

  • Amazing in the past she had lots of mistakes and falls this was perfection AMAZING:-)

  • I love her last spin!!! it's unbelievable

  • shes breathtaking!!

  • The female announcer annoys the hell out of me.

  • @keithcarlislesmith doesnt she!?

  • I will never forget what I ws thinking while watching this. It was all the crazy mistakes Sasha had made. From falls, pops, a messed up sit spin in 02, messed entrance to a camel spin, falling on footwork and even a messed up spiral at least once. OMG They all flashed in my brain throughout this routine. The sad reason being I knew if she did a clean SP she would make the podium even after the mistakes I knew she'd make in the LP. Because I knew in my heart she would NEVER win an Olympic Gold.

  • What incredible talent!

  • I got chills ;)

  • where is she now?????

  • @11luvsDerek She's still skating ^^ watch?v=J7Ft5q1yraE

  • how did she not win gold?

  • @LoggyWD She fell a couple of times in the Long Program. Still won silver though.

  • I am in looooove with her layback!

  • The relief and joy on her face when she saw 1st place brings tears to my eyes. The best ladies short program at the olympics ever. Perfection.

  • @tinymavy ochi chyornye, dark eyes, russian folk song

  • I could just watch this program over and over! She is amazing!!!

  • what song is this?

  • Perfect skating i can watch this over and over again. It just shows so much personality and like she said "the fire in her eyes". Her spiral sequence was BEAUTIFUL. So much artistry and so captivating. Go Sasha!

  • She has perfect line and position each and every second of the program. Nothing ever looks ugly (think Rachel Flatt) or awkward (think Irina Slutskya) for her. She is the Master.

  • Spettacolare.. non posso crederci! E' fantastica davvero!

  • SHE DID EPICALLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she's wonderful!

  • She is amazing<3

  • lindo

  • magnifica artista e magnifica creatura

  • Sasha is an amazing skater she tries her best and works hard she will do best her skating wish her luck!!! <3 her

  • YEAHH!!! SSASHA I NAMED MY DOG AFTER U!!! not really but her name is Sasha haahaha . Great job!

  • If i Wass A Worldd Famous Figure Skater, I Would Put Livee Musicc

Not Boringg Musicc That makess Half thaa Crowdd Fall Asleep .

  • Her spiral is probably the best spiral in the entire world. Its both flexible, but also strong. I just love watching her do her spirals.

  • The current crop of skaters don't look anywhere near as good as Sasha did. Rachael Flatt anyone? How's she for artistic impression?

  • I always thought she was under-marked for this program especially in the artistic component score. She should have been clearly in the lead after performing this not just .03 ahead of 2nd.

  • Scott nailed it when he said "and their qualities are so different." Should've been at least a 10 point lead for Sasha. And Yuka Sato was also commented after this program, "darenimo kuraberarenai utsukushisa ga aru," which translates to, "she has beauty (elements of beauty) that cannot be compared to anyone." That's telling it like it is. I'm sorry, but if you had Sasha and any other skater perform an identical program, comparing them side-by-side, it wouldn't be close. Mao would be a distant#2

  • I'm not normally a big fan of Cohen but this was lovely - her and LP was lovely as well - even with the errors.

  • Sasha is fantastic! She is a beautiful, graceful, balletic, and elegant skater. Too bad she never fulfilled her potential, but her personality is real and she is a great role model for any young athlete. =))

  • I love Sasha's skating, she always so inspiring! Her spiral sequence is just WOW. The thing i can't get is why she doesn't go fasting into her double Axel. I watch it so many times and it always looks so tight. Is there a reason for that?

  • フィギュアスケートがSPだけで行わたなら彼女は無敵である。通常世界選手権を一度も勝てない選手はアイスショーに呼ばれないが、彼女は別格のスケーターでその人気は不動のものだ。

  • her spiral sequence always gives me chills

  • Sasha was never one of my favorites, but you have to admit she sold the HELL out of that program!!

  • This is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her moves are so fluent and perfect.

  • My favorite female ice skater! Such grace! Beauty! <3

  • i love the smile on her face when she finishes!! :)

  • What I love about Sasha is that she always skates her heart out. And does her best.

  • One of the BEST EVER!!!!!

  • Sasha was a headcase at times in her career when she had a chance to win but you don't see this kind of skating now. For the most part there's no personality in the sport at the moment. The problem with the asian skaters who have dominated skating the last 5 years is they tend to be rather serious and not extroverted like north american skaters and tend to not show their personality.

  • @dsfddsgh Not show any personality? I dare you to watch anything by Yu-Na Kim, Daisuke Takahashi, Kanako Murakami, etc etc and say they have no personality on the ice :P

  • how can 29 ppl dislike this?????? its better then any of them could ever do!!!

  • i looove this program soo much it is one of my faourites by sasha cohen.

  • конечно не русская,но болела за нее...пусть простит меня ира

  • 1:46, lutz right ?

  • @GIRLSKATER6 No that was a triple flip

  • SUPERB, I love this program, great performance, artistry, musicality and choreography. She is one of the most talented skaters of all time.

  • She quit because she has a huge focus problem. Very talented arguably the best lady single skaters of all time, however she cn not focus. She gets out there and gets into an amazing position, then she starts to day dream about lollypops, and ends up flat on her behind. It truly is sad and unfortunate. She was never a world or Olympic champion. In my opinion it is simply because her mind was somewhere else.

  • @catherinegoldman24 actually she 'quit' because after nearly a decade of GREAT skating she thought she needed a rest and quite rightly so!

  • @catherinegoldman24 she quit, yes because of her focusing problem but also because of how she sees competition really is. i saw a clip of brian orser talking about yuna kim before the olympics and he was talking about the season before the olympics and it was worlds in LA and mao was before her. mao had a perfect program and both yuna and brian were relieved of that because mao was the best and if yuna really wanted this she would have to win over the best.in other words,be better than the best.

  • @VWYL900802 i think this is what sasha is missing. she thinks to much, it's like disecting a program, causing her to doubt her performance. she has the classic trait of a silver medalist has: thinks too much of others, and not her own. thinking of pleasing, not in control. she has that look in her lp that she cant do it, but really to be a champion, one has to arrive to win without doubt. this game, arakawa just won buy default. and much like her shakespeare program, thats a tragety.

  • It's ' Dark Eyes'

  • What's the name of the song please??

    She's just amazing :)

  • I miss Sasha. She is the best. I know she's with Stars on Ice but they never come to the Midwest. Go, Sasha, go!!!

  • this...is...perfection!

  • WHY DID SHE QUIT?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @TheKimmy106 I liked her until I learned she's a thug when it comes to sportsmanship. No class, just nasty.

  • @JNagarya You learned she's a thug? Is this hearsay, or did you learn this firsthand?

  • @faeryquene It was reported in newspapers. They can be found by google.

  • @TheKimmy106 injury :(

  • Best short performance in any Winter Olympic Games - too bad we have to suffer through the commentary and can't just enjoy the performance with the music.. That is why they skate to music, right?

  • Sasha is the shit!

  • I love this short program by Sasha, btw. So much fire and spark! It's a shame that her jumping technique and less than stellar edging always got her in the LP. Putting that aside, it's hard to deny that there was something special about her.

  • If they give gold mental for short program, Sasha Cohen would be the most decorated skater out there.

  • when she is on, nobody can touch her. beautiful skater

  • @alina08rotari I believe it's "Bright Eyes" (Ukranian)

  • @choralreif It is Dark Eyes.

  • @Mr2luvlife I agree!!! Well factually, Tara Lipinski did have a more difficult routine. However Michelle had muchhh more artistry and felt her performance emotionally. Tara was just a better technical skater.

    I LOVE MICHELLE!!!

    AND SASHA!!!

    :D

  • Do skaters even do spirals anymore? Sasha is the queen of spirals.

  • @HowsaBowsaYowsa Yes , we do still do spirals .

  • @HowsaBowsaYowsa

yes, sakters still do, but rather than a spiral sequence, it's scored in the "transitions" portion of the score now...and well, NO ONE can do a spiral sequence like Sasha, especially the fan spiral! :)

  • She's beautiful. She's talented. She's artistic. She's fierce. She's energetic. She's emotional. She's amazing. She's hardworking. She's unbelievable. She's death-defying. She's brave. She's one of a kind. She's my idol... And I love her <3
  • RothdeMan, I miss Michelle, Sasha and Irina as well. All 3 are silver medalist at the Olympic games and imo are better than the ladies who won. Michelle should of won in 1998 with a more complicated program, better spins, layback, footwork and artistry. Irina should of won in 2002. And Sasha had the gold locked in 2006, If not for the falls.

  • 4:00 she said "Fuck Yeah"

  • i can watch this and the malaguena over and over and over again :)

  • @smoggle me too!

  • shes a great young lady!!! and a wondeful skater!!

  • I miss Dick Button Commentary

  • Splendid!

    鮮やか!

  • why didn't she compete in the 2010 winter olympics?

  • @CrazyEggs123456789 She did not make the team.

  • @CrazyEggs123456789 didn't make the team. Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu went instead. First and second in Nationals... I think Sasha placed fourth behind Ashley Wagner.

  • Sasha is the Queen of the ice! Love you Sasha!!!!!!!!

  • What with all the hate? She may not be consistent but she has beautiful artistry. She is able to draw the audience into her performance.

  • she's amazing! Stop saying bad things about her!

  • @Darkina85 But she thinks she is "SO AWESOME" yeah right she's a brat!!! :P

  • @lolmonkey98 In all sports, you have to go into it with a degree of confidence, thinking that you ARE better than everyone else, otherwise you wouldn't compete and you wouldn't want the top spot, the gold medal, the championship rings, the Grand Slams, none of that.

  • ewww teribble

  • Hmm... I wonder how a Silver Medal in the Olympics is "nothing" in other people's opinion...

  • .... SIMPLEMENTE : THE QUEEN .... OVER ICE

  • i hate dick button

  • Великолепно!!!!

  • She should have never left Tarasova. Once she did, she became nothing.

  • OMFG amazing! 5.7/6.0

  • "The Best for Last" says it all.

  • "The Best for Last" says it all.

  • "The Best for Last" says it all.

  • I'm not trying to be rude but because of her posture she reminds me of Donald Duck.....she does have a very nice spiral!

  • @CAllison111 OMG, so sasha is your idiot? sasha is a "falter" on ice. So, I guess you must be a "falter" in life. Very good match huh lol

  • This is by far her best performance ever! Glad she was able to do this in the Olympics.

  • Gave me goosebumps :)

  • Wow. just AMAZING!!! :)

  • That was AMAZING!

She looks so happy after that performance, something she has been waiting to do in a while! (:

    Loved it.

  • @JellyBean1914 but she flutzing, 2-foot the flip, very shaking landing on 2A. She does need to have more speed.

  • I know people are steady badmouthing Sasha's consistency, but I think she is wonderful. I can't think of an American whose technique is superior!

  • @girlcandream I really feel that if she could have gotten over her nerves, she would have been the greatest we had here for sure. When she's on, she's definitely my favorite.

  • @girlcandream but Sasha technique is "inferior" compare to Olympic Champion, Yuna Kim.

  • oh, that brilliant spins! Very well-made program, she is such a great performer! Go Sasha!

  • i can't stop watching her, she's so amazing!

  • Sasha was in Vancouver in competition??

  • @antonialive No, she placed fourth and nationals and didn't qualify to go to Vancouver.

  • @PaintingPaperTowns thanks for your answer, sorry for for Sasha, she has technique, and talent... Antonialive...

  • What I miss about Sasha, Michelle, Irina, Maria, ect...is that they all had their own styles, but above that they all had personality. Something IMO, that is lacking today, among other things.

    This performance was fantastic!

  • @RothdeMan Agreed. And it has everything to do with the new judging system. A free program with requirements?? Seriously? Back then you could do anything you wanted in the long. And even in the short program with requirements, it wasn't as heavy as nowadays and skaters could inject their own personalities and style. I do marvel at Yu-Na Kim's ability to be technically and artistically impressive, but I do wonder sometimes how different of a skater she would be with the 6.0 system.

  • @mariahfan444 I know what you mean, very few skaters have their own style now. Joannie Rochette is one of the few skaters left. That's what i love about her. I too, wish Kim Yu-na would add a style, same with Mao Asada, and Mirai Nagasu. They just look too much alike. The only difference is the technical part. I do think that the new judging system has a big effect. Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Irina Slutshaya, they all grew up with the old judging system and adapted their own style.

  • @strawberrykiwi20a Yu-Na Kim, Mirai Nagasu, and Mao Asada skate NOTHING alike. Yu-Na has this face paste style while Mao is more genuine and expresses herself with her body (beautiful arm movements that very, very few skaters can match) more than anything else. Completely different styles. On the other hand, Mirai still looks a bit juniorish and can be a tad awkward to me at times, so I don't see the point in comparing her to Yu-Na and Mao. Just my opinion though.

  • @pinto89100 It's kind of hard to explain what i mean. I guess it's kinda based on your opinion. I personally can't get into any of their performances. Don't jump at me with criticism but they kinda have boring performances. Someone can't tell that they have "beautiful stunning performances" and then look like beautiful stunning performances to me just because they say that. It's just the way you take it in. To me it all comes in like the same thing.

  • @strawberrykiwi20a I respect your opinion. But even if I didn't find Mao's performances entertaining (Yu-Na and Mirai's performances don't do much for me) I would still acknowledge that they have different styles. If you were to focus on their arm movements alone, or their lines, or their toes; I doubt that they would look anything remotely alike. This whole "everyone looks the same today" has been blown out of proportion imo. That was merely my point.

  • @RothdeMan female single skaters nowadays, especially with the asian skaters, and im sayin this in the most sincere way, have no life. no life = no style. and thats coming from an asian skater.

  • she has like the best smile at the beginning and the end ! =]

  • gosh i love her dress!

  • Absolutely breathtaking! I love her style. Wow! I would love to skate like that!

  • This program just makes me want to push harder and harder to be as amazing as she is. Sasha Cohen is my inspiration for skating. When ever I feel like giving up skating I watch this program and it inspirers me to keep going and going. <3

  • wish you all the best,Sasha!

  • what song is this

  • i love sasha cohen and this is like her best performance ever! it's so sad she didn't make it to the 2010 olympics but she is definetely to good to be forgotten : ) i agree with @cupcakeskate88, she is a figure skating legend : )

  • oh damned it!!!

why couldn´t she perform like this in the LP..... :(

  • @tchachinafan my thoughts exactly! she just never was able to pull of a clean LP.

  • @leo34ap actually she has.... just not at the same time as doing a brilliant short... her 2003 season she won 4 goals in a row... she hit her rachmaninov long program perfectly a lot

  • @Briesmile28 thanks for the info......i will look for the rachmanovov programs. I love watching her.

  • People, let's settle this right now. The ONE skater that started it all (beautiful artistry incprporating dance ballet and genuine ellegance)was OKSANA BAIUL. If it weren't for Oksana, none of the ladie skaters out there would be giving the kind of performances that newgenerations are experiencing now. True, she was never strong in the technical aspect but the beauty of her skating.....breathtaking!!!

  • This performance gives me chills everytime I see it!!! Love Sasha!

  • Sasha Cohen is a figure skating legion. She's just so incredible. She is my inspiration and my favorite skater of all time. ♥

  • where is this music from?

  • @mustlovegeckoes its a Russian folk ong called "dark eyes"

  • I hope Sasha won't be forggoten .Her class ,her grace ,her beauty ,the performance.I still feel it wasn't her time to quit .If I was her I would't care and I'd stay there until I'm fourty ,but I'd win a gold at olympics and at worlds. She's just the best ever and she has to get one of these. All in all she's worked her whole life for it .
