  • love the effects lol - nice tech ;)

  • like a sir

  • Maybe it wouldn't work sooo well in real life but hey! What is better? This or nothing? Personally i think it's very practical

  • As soon as cheesy sound effects were introduced paused left comment how gay this is and left, theres a reason bartisu is nearly dead....were not living in the victorian era anymore -_-

  • This looks so stupid! This would not work in real life terms.

  • Theorically: possible. Realistically: the laughingstock of the whole bar.

  • Tell me a single martial art where you can take on more than 4 opponents all at one.

  • @sousukes7 krav maga or keysi method

  • @sousukes7 It's called sprint.

  • @sousukes7 wing chun

  • this is low class acting

  • I love it. I have a lot of respect for Bartitsu. Most people may think it is useless and only for fops, but unlike most martial arts this is for use in real life situations, not for winning cups at a tournament. Most of the time it is more important that you do something, rather than what you do. One on one these techniques will work fine.

  • yeah this was a "gentlemanly" self defense so that the guy wouldn't get his gloves dirty. C'mon people can't you have some common sense? Lol, but seriously, this is shit

  • How can someone learn how to fight if they never trully fight.

  • Good for movies. Bad for the world.

  • I think the main point of this video was for the man to practice various techniques, not being a real sparring situation. Someone probably saw it and was like CAN WE FILM THIS!?! And he analyzed it for us. If you take the individual techniques, they might work. Just sayin

  • To all the haters: I, too, disassembled the video in about ten seconds, when most of the attackers spent their time derping around in the background. My question to you is what martial art do you practice that qualifies you to make this judgment?

  • All very helpful when your opponent with the knife waits patiently for you to get around to him before attacking you and then drops his knife before you even make contact with his hand. This wouldn't count for beans in an actual fight.

  • what a load of ballsax

  • nice oldscool training! interesting!

  • Sherlock holms would be proud !

  • Having a stick will gain you great distance in a fight like this and as barton wright says in his articles, a simple malica cane will sever a mans jugular vein under his overcoat if in the hands of a trained individual. It sure wouldn't look this pretty but I am sure a trained man would survive the attack.

  • I once witnessed an aikido demonstration on how to protect yourself with a drawn sword against an unarmed person...

Somehow this video reminded me about it...

  • @grozde That needed a demonstration? :)

  • @excelephant

    Apparently, some aikidokas thought so...

  • I would LOVE to see him fight against a KRAV MAGA trained soldier ... NO CHANCE

  • @ZZunknown Two VERY different styles!

  • PMSL....... ilove the Street Fighter 2 sound effects ha ha ha ha

  • 葉問:「我要打十個!!!!」

  • use this as a deception and use ninjutsu

  • in a real life scenario he would be rushed, overwhelmed, and beaten senseless in about ten seconds

  • @GSeward

Quite possibly, but untrained people tend to be afraid of being hit.

  • @it13455 Not if their stupid. A group of people are confidant...

  • @it13455 that and training would give him confidence. Keeping a cool head can really give you an edge

  • @it13455 Right? Not to mention, most trained people tend to be afraid of being hit. And anyone swinging a hard piece of wood towards your head is a scary thing, let alone someone who spends their time rehearsing their ability to hit you in the head with said stick.

  • @GSeward Obviously this man would be beaten down in a real fight, no matter what your training in being attacked by that many people will result in being rushed, overwhelmed, and beaten senseless. Just take it for what it is, a demonstration. Its a fancy show of stage combat and nothing else.

  • @Themightyblunghole

    Not necessarily

Not to try to sound like Mr. Macho man but I've successfully fended off 7 guys in real life.

They were drunk and i was bigger then them which is probably why i was able to pull it off, but the trick of it is to intimidate them and make them feel as though if they were the first one to step up they would die (This was hard to pull of as i was wearing a bath robe at the time)

Feral rage will win every time because scares the hell out of people

  • @s0u113ss First off if what you say is true, that pretty damn impressive, second you are right recently Ive heard of a chap who held off against 5 guys. I guess anything is possible if youre violent enough

  • @GSeward yeah i think Edward William maybe could do it for real

  • @GSeward Jupp!

  • @GSeward Can happen sure, but i have seen one whole rugby team on the drink, not dare attack 1 big bouncer they were cussing out, when he walked into the middle of them and said " ok any of you take your best shot" not one got close to him, too scared of being hit first.

  • @GSeward I'm pretty sure if this was real, he'd go a little more crazy with that stick.

  • @GSeward not if he is robert downy jr ;P

  • @GSeward it's a demonstration dude, chill

  • Kick ass cane fighing!

  • Bartitsu: The original eclectic martial art, like Jeet Kune Do, but from the Edwardian period. Any notions "fair play" or "sportsmanship" seem absent from Bartitsu.:-). Itstead it seems predicated on what works when the odds are stacked against you and you are in danger.A self defence system from the era of London ruffians and Paris garotters! Here is a fine exposition of what to do when attacked mob-handed.
