  • I wish I could have experienced the Lakota way of life, I am a white man and I tell u this the USA government is the mist corrupt and evil entity on this planet and the USA is still trying to colonize and nation build and wipe out other cultures way of life.

  • @mythic89 Then let your displeasure be known. Earth is sort of at a tipping point right now where we can make the changes to move forward as one whole people or we can stay divided as we are and kill our own planet.

...sounds bad but you must take a stand against your people - those in charge at least.

  • aho. Wanbli Gleshka

  • I too feel we (as a society) need to take another look at the fundamental structures of our society. Do we need debt driven corporate consumerism?? Do we need oil and coal to generate electricity?? or are there cleaner more natural ways? Do we have to dominate and try to control nature? or can we find ways to live more in harmony with nature? Just thoughts I wish everyone would stop and consider!! Think about yore towns water, food, and shelters...are YOU happy? or concern? Just thoughts....

  • I red Luthers standing bear twice but I think he is wrong on the account of the pawnee fight. According to history the last batlle was in 1873 in Nebraska with people of spotted tail. Luther would have been only 5 years old. In his book it is dated in 1875 : he would be 7 years old and still remarkable what he remembers of the massacre canyon fight. as a little boy. If in 1875 another big fight took place then it went unnoticed to the whites but I don't think so. Nice vid though.

  • Thanks for pointing that out. What you say makes perfect sense. I will note for viewers here that many people find discrepancies in the dates that Luther Standing Bear cites and the dates recorded in history. It seems that he gained or lost a few years somewhere, understandable for an adult recalling his or her childhood, but perplexing given the strong oral tradition and memorization skills that he would possess as a Lakota.

  • Thank you for the wonderful and thought provoking vid. Let us remember we are all one people (humans, and even every living thing, in a way). There are many so called races of humans. It is wise to remain mindful of any of them who live closer to nature, more in accord with the rythms and vitality within the miracle of life. We are at present still the minority, but our voices are quite evidently growing more audible. :)

  • wish i could go back in time live with my people then now we have all lost our way and some don't even know what it means to be a sioux how special it is

  • That is why some of us try our best to introduce people to this wonderful way of life, to help each other find our way before its too late. The Sioux were very special.

  • I would be so honoured to live a life in the Lakota way .I am very disheartened with the white way, no culture no heart, no soul.Whites walk with eyes wide shut .I love and appreciate all these videos as i feel closer to the people .Bless you and thank you.

  • thnx...

  • great lakota nation - our time will come again.. more than that - our spirit lives

    wambleeska - standing rock res.

  • What can I do for you in New Zealand?

I am going to prepare my Spanish lesson plans for my school.

If I talk about which countries are in American Continent I want to recognize Sioux Nation, but I need help from their people.

  • Great video, zacuan, thanks for bringing this information out.

  • Wouldn't it be wonderful, if all peoples lived as the Lakota? And, they live this way still, to this day.

I have several friends who are Lakota, all of them still live this way. I am Cherokee, but find myself identifying with the Lakota way of life more.

Thank You for posting this, for others to learn, of the Lakota. I Love all your vids, keep 'em comin'.

  • Whats the difference between the Cherokee and the Lakota and the other native American tribes?

  • WOW..........I'm speechless!!!!!!!!!!

  • I couldn't have said it better gabrielle! Can you imagine if this were the american way of life? Our European ancestors forced their ways on the indians and we know what that has accomplished. Thank you zacuan, for making such thought provoking videos. I hope you will consider uploading them to the LiveVideo community, there are many who would surely appreciate your work. ~Barb
