  • hi i would love to no wat the song is called for this vid it would be a real help thanx.love and light namaste

  • I have the same irrigation system lol

  • Looks good, but you should really be using larger containers - especially if you put other plants in the top. 5 gallon containers are needed for tomatoes.

  • Great video! Thanks so much! And the MUSIC IS WONDERFUL!!! :-)

  • I love this idea.

We have an a covered porch and my dad would always hang hanging flower pots with petunias. The petunias would grow down to the ground and give us a flower wall for privacy.. and it smelled nice too.

I was thinking about trying to hang tomatos and zucchini upside down with running petunias in hanging flower pots, but I heard that tomatos and zucchini will always grow up even if they are upside down.

You seem to be having great success! I guess it is worth a try!

    :)

  • Its Just for fun try it experiment learn and enjoy talk to and or observe your plants daily if possible love and live life

  • I LOVE IT!!! I have a container garden (because I don't have a yard) and I'm running out of floor space. This is a GREAT solution to my problems! You are so right, I'm swooning over those eggplants! I'm gonna start one ASAP!! also rly liked the lettuce, what a great idea for fresh salads! oh goodness! thank you so much and keep up the good work!!!!

  • Upside down cuccumbres and peas..first time I see that..but why not!

  • I just saw a tacky ad on TV, but I like your version better. This is great.

  • Thanks

  • turn up the volume

  • how much better is the yeild upside down??.Ive always wanted to give growing upside down a shot just kinda sketch about the whole idea.

  • nice idea i like it.but your plants look a little small for what they could be. your pots are very small and keep the size down, you should try bigger pots to allow more veg growth to occur so they can flower or fruit more. More soil =bigger plants

  • I thought carrots grow in the ground, what kind of carrots are you growing?

  • baby carrots

  • @TacoAreGood

    the good kind

  • I have had a great deal of fun with all of the verities of tomatoes and yes many like to grow long vines after all tomatoes are a vine plant. If you want it to look just like the ones on the adverts you should try the bush verity you can cut all of the branches off except for the top sections and bury the whole plant body in the dirt of the bucket this makes for a very strong Plant.

  • Always snip the pointer leaf of each Tomatoe branch just below the blossoms this will force the plant to put the growth energy into the fruit and wioll stop the non producing stem from growing.

  • Yep, you're right. The "pointer leaf" are called "suckers" (no joke). Of course, I'm originally from the South and they have 'funny' names for things sometimes. :)

  • What's with the tomatoe reaching for the sky? Isn't that a problem when it gets big?

  • not until now

    never was befor

  • So is this still growing toward the sky? Mine are. I have 6 plants and no control over it. Seems the stems will eventually get weak as it grows creating a strength problem. I must believe this is a problen with all of these. The commercial has 1 big fat stem with 228 thousand big fat red ripe tomatoes and not a bend in the dtem. I have a problem with commercials.

  • What is the plant with purple flowers?

  • Egg Plant !

I dont like to eat them but it is a beautifull Plant And the girls are atracted to the male version

  • @AuronWarrior eggplant

  • Union - I have done tomatoes and green peppers this way for the past couple of years and have been successful. The tomatoes dont get as big as I think they should but I did cherry and romas last year and they were very plentiful. The greenpeppers grew until Nov in VA (close to DC)! I tried the cucumber the 1st year and it produced the weirdest plant -- almost a cross between cuke and cantalope -- VERY STRANGE. Did you cut into your cuke and how was it???

  • My cukes where great try the English cukes and don't get them close to cantaloupes or radiation :>)

  • they shure dry out fast

  • NOT IF YOU USE WATER

  • vermiculli is a good water absorbing product to mix with your organic soil. Use the off -white colored kind. The white colored kind doesn't retain water.

  • is there speaking in this video? Just making sure my speakers/audio is working.

  • Thank you very much for posting this! I have only seen some puny results so far, but this vid gave me some good ideas. May you get lots of tomatoes!

  • ok thanks I removed him or her the net is full of flys

  • Why wouldent I be Kind

  • haha funny.....i see you read the side note

  • sorry the last comment was for bug spray

if you have Vita Mix there is a post on the net under vita mix for natural fertilzer using left over vegies

But the very best fertilzer ever is rabit poo

it wont burn your plants and if you can find some one with one pet rabit you will have all you can use

  • AWESOME!! I'm on the way to Home Depo for buckets and lids right now!! Do your plants get full sun all day??

  • You did a good job with those watering lines!!

  • thanks was very easy much more than watering every day by hand

  • Ok... I request the secret trick to getting them to grow upside down.

  • this plant will not grow upside down unless

you do it very slowly only a little bit of sun each day hang the plant out of the sun until the leaves turn over the bottom of the leaves will sunburn and the plant will die the leaves must turn over befor it can be hung in the sun then it will thrive it is my favorite veggy to look at I love the flowers

  • This is sooooo cool, I am going to try this with my eggpland seedlings... any suggestions on how old the seedlings should be before trying this?

  • I never tried them from seed I always bought starts. but there is a trick to getting them to grow upside down request the secret and I will tell you

  • never tried babys but the should do better than the small adults that I have used

this plant will not grow upside down unless

you do it very slowly only a little bit of sun each day, hang the plant out of the sun in the garage until the leaves turn over the bottom of the leaves will sunburn and the plant will die the leaves must turn over befor it can be hung in the sun then it will thrive it is my favorite veggy to look at I love the flowers

  • Hey, I would like the secret to how to get them to grow upsidedown. I've got some zucchinis that are getting pretty big and need to be planted soon...also, were your zucchini's successful?

  • Zuks get to heavy unless you like the small ones for shredding in salad raw .

Egg plants must be started very slowly, a little sun every other day until the leaves turn over they will sunburn and die be patient it is worth it

  • this plant will not grow upside down unless

  • @mrshdavis no zucs are to heavy and ther stems are to small because the plant grows so fast the wind would just tear them apart

  • beautiful

  • this is amazing

  • This is really nice. Thanks for the inspiration :)

  • i love the way you have irrigated your hanging plants. very clever, and beautiful.

  • I have tried many plant varieties some work great some do not work at all, also remember that in a small encapsulated world a little is good a lot is not necessarily better! I have Killed or shunted a few plants, but I still keep tying new things such as my secret to getting Eggplants to grow upside down. I don't even like this food but what a beautiful plant the flowers the leaves and the fruit are exquisite,

  • I swear women are inexplicitly drawn to the male version of this plant just stand back and watch.

  • I used inexpensive pots that already have a small hole in the bottom I cut out the unwanted plastic the whole was indented up 1/2 of an inch above the bottom of the pot which I believe provides a water reservoir in the bottom of the pot. I used plain potting soil

I used little peat pots that expand when you add water to start my plants, and the diameter of the peat pots fit the whole in the bottom of the hanging pot perfectly.

  • that's really kool that u did it urself w/o buying that new product thing. and i like how u hav flowers @ the top! XD very pretty, good job.

  • great techniques! I'm starting an upside down garden this year for the first time...got any recommendations?
